"My US dollars were stolen at the hotel! Be careful! It was terrible! A hotel staff member stole them! The US dollars in my bag were missing! And they only took the larger denominations! While it's partly my fault for being careless and not carrying any with me, I stayed at three hotels during my trip to Sri Lanka. The first few were great, and no one stole my money, so I let my guard down on the last two nights. I only discovered the theft when I tried to pay with US dollars at the airport!"

"Four star hotel on the beach was pleasant enough. Reasonable sized room and bed with balcony and hot drink making facilities. Did bother with the food but the pool was lmeasant enough and deep in parts to make swimming easier. Staff were helpful but the Internet in my room was poor, and the plug sockets are mostly some local style and not the usual English ones. I had to unplug a lamp and sleep on the other side of the bed to use the only English style plug. Water pressure is weak in places and no free toothbrush or toothpaste unlike in other similar places we have used."

"Despite arriving well after midnight, we received a warm welcome and quickly settled into the beautiful surroundings. I was immediately pleased that I had requested an extra night at Waterland for our first stay in Sri Lanka. The following morning we woke to monsoonal rain, which continued on and off throughout the day. With the soothing sound of the rain, the comfortable lounge areas, and the tranquil views of the gardens and river, it seemed the perfect excuse to simply relax rather than venture out. We enjoyed drinks and a delicious lunch served in our room while taking in the peaceful atmosphere. Fortunately, the rain eased long enough in the afternoon for us to enjoy a leisurely boat ride along the river. We stayed in the Peacock Suite, which was exceptionally spacious. Downstairs featured a large, comfortable lounge, a generous bedroom with a large double bed overlooking the private pool, and a huge bathroom complete with a rain shower. Upstairs mirrored the downstairs layout, but this lounge offered magnificent views across the river, making it an ideal place to relax. The service was warm and friendly throughout our stay, and the meals were excellent. I can certainly attest to how fresh the food was, having watched the chef through the dining room window in the garden cutting lemongrass for my soup just before it was served. There was plenty to keep guests entertained, including a magnificent vintage billiard table, board games, a good collection of books to borrow, and bicycles available for exploring the area. The friendly American owner was knowledgeable, welcoming, and always happy to chat. As first-time visitors to Sri Lanka, we greatly appreciated his local insights and recommendations. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to participate in one of the cooking classes. However, the outdoor kitchen and riverside dining area, surrounded by flowers and fragrant herbs, looked incredibly inviting. I could easily imagine spending an afternoon learning to prepare traditional Sri Lankan curries and sambals before sitting down to enjoy the delicious meal that followed. Waterland provided the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka—a peaceful, welcoming retreat where it was easy to slow down, relax, and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings."

"We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 in the morning — exhausted, but not without having planned ahead. We had already informed the reservation team about our late check-in at the time of booking, so we expected things to be in order. They were not. When we walked into our room, it was clear that it hadn't been properly prepared. There was no toothpaste, no toothbrush, and the television was switched on, yet the remote was nowhere to be found. But it was the middle of the night, and we were running empty. So we simply took a shower and collapsed into bed, choosing to deal with it all in the morning. The next day, we headed down for breakfast, and to be fair, the food was genuinely good. However, I had to rush back to the room for a meeting, so I asked my wife to bring my meal up. She kindly spoke with the restaurant staff and requested that our selected dishes be sent to the room. To our surprise, they refused, saying they couldn't bring some of the items upstairs. My wife, already a bit worn out from the night before, was understandably upset. Frustrated, she walked away. Somehow, after all of that, they ended up bringing everything to the room anyway. We have stayed at nearly every Jetwing property across the island, and this has been, by far, the most disappointing experience we have ever had."

"Do not book this place, I had a confirmed booking, when I arrived from India, initially the attendant, told me there's no booking, after trying to contact flipkart and clear trip whise customer support is equally pathetic, after some time she checked her mail and said there is booking but no room available, later she gave me a single bed room, which was not yhe toom i booked, the lady was continously demanding me to either tale the room or leave the property. As I was tired and there was no support from flipkart or clear trip, was forced to take the room. The room condition is also poor the ac doesn't work, no kettle, wifi is pathetic namesake only. The fan squeaks. Do not book this place, as it was midnight I really had no option the ans from cleartrip and the property attendant was take the room or cancel the booking was pathetic, Just to save a few bucks please do not fall in the similar mess I am in. Stay clear......."

"Dickman resort is simply fantastic. The hotel itself is beautiful and very stylish. My wife and I stayed in the Mango suite, which has a huge and comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom with rainshower, and always hot water, soap and towels. There is a big fridge, large TV, good A/C, and everything is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is top notch and snacks and drinks provided on request, and at reasonable cost. There is a fantastic pool and sunbeds. Best of all, the guys that work here are so genuinely lovely, friendly and attentive. This has to be up among the best places to stay in Sri Lanka. Do your self a favour and book in. 100% recommend."
