Firstly, we stayed here for a week at the end of April , which is really just before the season gets going and we think that was good as the weather was lovely without being baking hot, everywhere we went was fairly quiet and the hotel was cheaper then too. The hotel seems to be very popular with young people. We were in a room at the front of the hotel , 3 floors up which gave us a lovely view, the balcony had sun all morning. There are 2 pool areas, one has quite loud ‘music’ playing (trance music it seems) for all day ( and probably much later in the summer) unfortunately there is no getting away from this as it is even at a lesser volume through speakers at the quiet pool area which has an infinity pool , also this ‘music’ is quite loud in the dining room and the lounge area - the only escape from it is in your room. Now, the room - after reading reviews I had concerns about the whole toilet thing, but actually it’s fine, the toilet and shower cubicle are next to each other, and each have opaque glass doors- just don’t put the light on in there and you’ll be fine ( there is a light right outside of them so you can still see). The only thing that is challenging is in the shower cubicle there is nowhere to hang anything, it is possible (just) to hang a towel on the door handle , but nowhere to put any clothes. There is tea making facilities and a fridge. The bed is quite comfortable and clothes hangers are adequate. There is a hair dryer. A small bamboo ladder is on the balcony for hanging of wet clothes. Each day you are left a half litre bottle of water each - that is it. If you require more water you have to BUY it at a cost of 5 euros for what I believe was a 750 ml bottle. If you go out of the hotel and walk left, there are a few general stores, but it is not easy to walk too far as the road right outside is wide and busy and this area of Corfu doesn’t have great pavements. Our trips - first day we got the bus from right outside the hotel to Corfu town, there is a QR code at the bus stop, scan that and it counts down to the next bus. The buses are cheap and reliable. The next day we walked to Kerkyra and back (about 40 mins each way) beautiful . There is not a great deal in Gouvia itself and not a beach worth going too- but we already knew that. We were keen to go to Paleokastritsa beaches and we hit the bus over the road for that, Green buses, Paleokastritsa is across the other side of the island so you get to see the middle as well as the coast. This bus was right on time, was a coach with tinted windows and air conditioning and cruised straight there with no stopping on the way, took you right to the beach, the journey took about 40 minutes and cost 2 euros each. There we did a lovely boat trip to look at some caves and then walked right up the hill a long way to look at the other beaches including the famous La Grotta beach. Another trip was we walked to Danilia village (about 30 minutes or so) really lovely 1930’s village , we
