Great location less than 20 minutes from KHH airport. It is within 8 minutes walking distance from SOGO for those who love to shop department stores.
There are 7-11s ( more than one!) Family Marts and a PX Mart (grocery store) along each road. Very convenient.
The drinks at 7-11 will be cheaper priced than Family Mart and PX Mart and sometimes they will have a BOGO on select items ( I got an extra baby wipe pack by sheer luck).
The Family Mart will have more unique items (ex Kombucha, health teas etc). The food selection for both places will be a bit limited for grab and go eats. Think sweet pastries and snacks. They do have some sandwiches but not super healthy if you are vegetarian.
The hotel has complementary breakfast that starts at 6:30am ends at 10am. It is a buffet the fills up the entire room. There is a wonderful mix of local foods, one Western style pot.
There is a small salad bar, fruit bar, coffee/tea and a small short order cook that will fry up 4 items (eggs, scallion onion omelette, turnip cakes). There is an other side has at least 10 varieties of local foods.
The quality is great! Not too oily, 2 congee pots ( regular and Hong Kong Style). Fruits include what is season (Guava, apples, watermelon) and oranges, bananas.
I will warn you about the late night snack (Dim Sum) buffet. Located on same floor and it starts at 7pm. That is a busy mad house. The line to queue up starts earlier and it will go down the hall to the stairwell.
Lots of tour buses come to this location and tour groups will flood in each week during season. I went during early April for 9 days.
I would go to breakfast at 8 am and skipped the nighttime crush. Restaurants are readily available all around and very affordable.
This hotel comes with complimentary laundry DIY and laundry powder soap. Make sure you write your room number on the dry erase placard and stick it on each machine you use. Otherwise another guest may accidentally throw their items in and use the machine. The dryers are on top so hard to see what’s on the bottom.
There is a free lounge in the lobby that has complimentary ice cream, coffee/tea and jasmine flavored gelatin cups. You can sit there all day if you like and sip on a free espresso or other drink.
This hotel comes with a lot of amenities at a reasonable rate— I will stay here again next time.

This was my third stay at this hotel since its grand opening. I visit Kaohsiung about every six months, and overall the experience has been consistently pleasant. The facilities are well designed and maintained , and the staff are friendly and professional
.
There was one issue during this stay—the shower drainage was clogged, so I had to use the bathtub instead. This is something that ideally shouldn’t happen at all, but the hotel’s response was okay. They came to fix it next morning as it was late.
The soundproofing and AC are excellent. I especially enjoyed the hot spring and the gym, both of which are well equipped and relaxing. I didn’t include the buffet breakfast this time, as I preferred grabbing local drinks, buns, and snacks from the 7‑Eleven or FamilyMart just across the street as well as leaving room for lunch later.
The desserts at the lobby café were delightful, and the Japanese restaurant was absolutely divine. It’s just a pity that I didn’t know the omakase needs to be pre-booked. The restaurant doesn’t reserve seats for hotel guests or ask about this in advance, which was a bit disappointing. The set menu was very nice.
Overall, it’s still a hotel I enjoy staying.

Guest UserThe hotel boasts an excellent location, standing as a standalone building. There are plenty of shopping options nearby. The front desk is on the 20th floor. On the first floor, they take care of your luggage and deliver it directly to your room. The room isn't huge, but the warm tones make it feel cozy and comfortable. I was very pleased with the numerous complimentary amenities. The mini-bar offers a great variety of drinks, which is a thoughtful touch, and the Dyson hairdryer is very practical and convenient. The gym is a bit on the small side. Breakfast was the most satisfying part – the steak was tender and delicious, comparable to renowned steak houses! There's a wide selection of vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms, offering plenty of healthy choices. Overall, the standard is superb. I absolutely recommend it; personally, I think it's much better than Marriott or InterContinental! It's the top choice when visiting Kaohsiung.

Guest UserThe hotel location is convenient, very close to Exit 2 of the subway. The room is clean, and breakfast is decent. It's close to the Kaohsiung Arena, a large shopping mall, and Ruifeng Night Market, making it a top choice for concerts.

Guest UserAbsolutely amazing service. I had delayed flights and a long travel time. I had a concert the same day and just expected to be allowed to drop my bags and check in later. However the staff were so friendly, understood and allowed me to check in early, luckily my room was ready. It meant a lot to me, thank you! Best hotel I have stayed in a while, yummy breakfast and fabulous views.

MZL13We stayed at 2 bed room suite and really enjoyed the view from the big windows. My daughter loves exploring the rooms and looking out of the window. She still talks about going back to Kaohsiung Marriott as she loves the room. We also love how the hotel is connected to a shopping mall with good restaurants, an indoor children playground and a good book store. Breakfast was of good variety and we chose to have breakfast at the main restaurant everyday. Lounge is also nice, although the breakfast variety is less.
My only disappointment would be the kids club as I don't think it is well equipped, in comparison to other 5 stars or 4 stars hotels. It is more like a room with some toys (building blocks and a broken kitchen) and the children fought over the toys.
Overall, we enjoyed the stay and hope to return in the future.

Hotel is relative clean. Stayed in a single room with a semi double bed. Size is decent but didn’t realised it was behind the lifts, could hear the lift moving through out the day.
The shower head position is pretty bad. It’s not on an angle it’s pretty much like spraying directly into your body. It would be great if they could address this.
It’s 15 mins walk from the metro station so not closed.
Also there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Crawled out of the drain

joannalimThe room was clean and the hotel building is still very new. It's right next to Kaohsiung Main Station, you just cross the street after exiting the station and you're there. The staff were friendly and spoke English well.

The room's air conditioning wasn't working properly. Although drinks and alcohol were provided as compensation, the air conditioning equipment still needs improvement to make the room more comfortable.

Never been to this area.
Went only for the E-da theme park, which was honestly speaking quite small. Not spectacular.
1. Ordered hotel ahead. So, didn’t have the chance to check out the environment. After arriving, we found out that the Royal E-da hotel had a lot more amenities, I.e. pool, jacuzzi, arcade room etc.
Back to this skylark hotel.
1. Room was alright, staff were very helpful, was upgraded to the three bed instead of the 2 bed.
2. Cleanliness was alright, didn’t like the 3in1 coffee though.
3. Gym was really big with very limited equipment, or broken equipment which opens at 8am, which wasn’t pleasing for those who have a long day ahead and exercise in the early hours.
4. Breakfast area was really big, vast food selection, but the food was a bit substandard.
5. Went during ***** new year, so there was a lion dance, which was alright.
Don’t really plan on coming back to this area, but would definitely recommend the royal e-da, though the rate is 20% more
