Entering the room I found 2 stink bugs crawling on the wall, which is surprising to find in the dead of winter. Water in the bathroom gives a sulfur smell. Their in-room brochure mentions a nearby sulfur springs as part of their history to explain the smell. Their website did not make a similar effort. Paid extra for a room with a fireplace, fireplace did not work. Cable in all the rooms is shut off, but for some reason the cable works in the bar area. Their website mentions cable reception, so that's a lie. Service is minimal with no apparent staff available past 2:00 PM The breakfast service was pretty good, however solely due to the cook that was on duty. I would have been more forgiving if the owner didn't lie to me that he would give me a partial refund for the problems. Which led to me having to perform a charge back. Owner claimed they were selling the place, which is not an excuse for the poor service.

My boyfriend and I wanted to take a trip to see the foliage last weekend and by the time we booked there wasn't much left in choices as far as hotels. This looked good and had great reviews, but we found out shortly before our trip that they had changed owners. We kept our fingers crossed and hoped for the best. This place is like something out of a 1960's time warp as far as decor but that didn't bother me. What was awful was that the place has sulfur water and it stinks! The room smelled like rotten eggs every time we ran the sink. The young woman downstairs, Lydia, was very nice. We asked her about the water and she said that people actually used to come there for it! Who on earth would want to brush their teeth and bathe in water that smelled that way. Yikes!!! At night we wanted heat and we didn't see any heat source in our room so we called downstairs and told them. We were told someone would be up shortly. No one ever showed up and finally I figured out how to get the baseboard heater which was about 8 inches long, to go on in the bathroom. We left the door open so the room got heated. Most disappointing of all was that we had made a reservation in their German restaurant because we were looking forward to German food. When we got there we were told by the (honest) waitress that they were completely understaffed and that we would probably wait an hour for an onion soup, and we should probably go somewhere else. Unbelievable!!! Obviously this place has a LOT of issues. Had we known we would have stayed elsewhere. Even a trailer on a campground probably would have been nicer. I don't recommend this place for more than one night.

Having checked in on the 13th of October I was in room #25. The floor is a hazard heaving an inch or two. The wave so pronounced that the beds have wooden blocks to level them. To observe the suspended ceiling was no more comforting than to attempt to transverse the floor without tripping. As for the bath, its aroma was disturbing to say the least. Regarding the comments I've seen from others: Room #25 is the only one with which I had any first hand experience. Shame on them for renting it. We will not be back.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet place in the Hudson Valley where we could get away for our 23rd anniversary. Based on their website and reviews, the Bavarian Manor seemed like the right choice. We paid over $300 and drove three + hours from Vermont. The problems started at dinner. A gentleman arrived who had made a reservation based on a specific dish listed on the website as the Friday special. When the waitress told him that wasn't the special this evening, he questioned why it was still on the website. Although she was nothing but polite and professional with us, she was dismissive of this gentleman's complaint, and the chef who came out to talk to him was outright rude- "You can go eat someplace else"- even though the gentleman's complaint was valid and could have been answered with a simple apology, comped meal, etc. This went on for several minutes, interrupting an otherwise quiet dinner. We retired to our room, looking forward to warming up by the fireplace mentioned in the description online. When the fireplace didn't work initially, we followed the directions posted in the room and went down to the front desk. There was no one there, and the bartender my wife spoke to very brusquely informed us that there was not going to be anyone there to help us- no owner, manager, or employees on site other than the restaurant staff. This became a bigger issue between 11 and 2AM when a large party of what we assumed to be drunken guests began loudly celebrating, going up and down the stairs and around the halls at top volume. Based on their conversations they were grabbing drinks from the unattended bar, though we didn't go out in the hallway to check. We woke up from what little sleep we could get to take showers and grab breakfast, only to find that there was no shampoo in the bathroom- a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it meant that on top of not sleeping we also couldn't take showers. When we spoke to the very nice woman who was in charge of the buffet breakfast, she said there were still no hotel employees on site but that she would leave our information and the owner would contact us later that morning. Twenty-four hours have passed and we still have not heard from anyone.

Under new management and it is bad. I stayed here numerous times over the years, the previous owner kept it nice and food was good. Broken locks on doors, drop ceiling tiles literally falling from ceiling, no water purification, previous owner had nice system, the water is sulfur water and it stinks, can’t brush your teeth, can’t shower, can’t drink it. Toilet ran all night chain was broken, no security whatsoever you can literally push the door in! Room came with free breakfast, on the website it says sit down with menu, in which previous owners had and was great, so we get downstairs and it was a ghost town, coffe was instant coffee in a pot to make it look like brewed coffee, eggs were at least 2 days old, dry potatoes and bacon horrible! I went to town to a convenience store and had better food. The front desk clerk was nice but absolutely clueless about anything. What a waste of time and money the new owner obviously has no money to run the place and always promotes his other restaurant down the road. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your hard earned money on this run down establishment. All the positive reviews are from employees or friends.

Quaint place to stay. It definitely is a place that has been around for a very long time and in need of updating, which we heard that the current new owner is working at little by little. Things we liked: the setting away from the hustle and bustle of life in general, the epansive front lawn area with mutiple seating areas and a fire pit; having an in-house restaurant with good foo;, friendly staff; far enough but not too far from home so we did not spend a lot of time traveling, Things that we did not like: no hot water for showers one morning but hot water for an evening shower OR a morning one the next day -- probably too many guests were tapping in to the hot water that morning; limited wifi access; the lake and paths we saw in some of the promo materials was definitely lacking, needing a lot of attention -- smelled sewage down around the lake and so the hoped-for fishing and walking didn't happen; no drinkable water in the restaurant UNLESS you paid for a $7 bottle. (Waitress said the water drinkability was due to the iron in the water.) That's probably the general overview. We hope that the new owner will, bit-by-bit make tne many needed improvements, as if guests don't generally mind it as it currently is, imagine how much more they -- and new guests -- will as word spreads that the place is excelling in hospitality. There would need to be some notable improvements to draw us back again.

Horrible service. Extremely long wait times. Stage was rude and food was disgusting. Manager never came over after requested. Server was atrocious. Don't recommend. Will not be back. Stay away an avoid.

Wonderful hospitality, welcoming owners, great cozy bar and great food at the restaurant. Loved the charming wrap-around porch where we enjoyed a cold beer. The quiet surroundings of the spacious property added to the tranquility. Will come again for sure!

In a nut shell this was a terrible....I booked a family suite I had a queen been in one room and an a joining room with two twin beds in another...What I got was a room with one king bed and found that they had double booked the room I booked...It took over 2 hours to get a hold of someone about the issue not to mention one of the people in my party needs o2 and night and it was suppose to be in the room when we got there...it was not where to be found...I spoke to the hotel a month earlier about that and if the room was double booked they should have said something then.... There was no WIFI so it made it very difficult to try and help myself and find a new place to stay...what a terrible experience....
