I have stayed in some great places in the U.S. and a few other countries but this place was the best ever. It had a variety of restaurants and bars. You can experience having a drink at a classic bar with walls full of leather bound books to a casual white sand beach bar on the ocean. The activities offered range from falconry to tennis to golf, skeet shooting, horseback riding and more. My only regret was not knowing how wonderful this place was ahead of time. I would have had to stay a few more days at least.

The Cloister at Sea Island is over-the-top. Certainly big $$$ ticket but they deliver the goods. Exceptional service, immaculate facility, totally attentive staff. While this was my first stay and only for two nights, most of the staff called me by first name! Regret that I wasn't able to take advantage of the amenities, golf, beach, spa, horseback, trails, etc. Foodwise, I only had a light salad from the beach grill snackbar, but it was just perfect and reasonable cost. My assigned room was in one of the main hotel wings and was huge. However, the HVAC fan was a bit noisy, despite the fact that it was a cool, mild night. I mentioned the issue in the morning and was graciously transferred to a beach resort room, where I was able to totally turn off the fan.

Sea Island is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Fun for all age groups. If you are planning a vacation for your family, this is the place for you. Spa, Tennis, Golf, and many other activities. This was our 6th trip to Sea Island and we hope for many more.

Really disappointed by our whole experience. Was recommended by others and while the property is beautiful the service is some of the worst I have encountered ever. I’ve been to several other places like blackberry farms and nemacolin which have similar vibes but they know how to make a great experience we just regretted spending so much money here. On check in the front desk lady pretty much sis sheds your keys bye. Other than making us sign the pet policy again. We had to ask for a map. Most of the shuttle people and door men were pleasant. It was Easter here but my husband told them it was my birthday as well. Not a single person restaurant or even at welcome said happy birthday or even asked if we came for anything. I don’t expect free stuff but I expect good service and experience. I honestly can’t think of any restaurant with good service or food. Skip eating onsite it’s overpriced and below average. We ate at the river bar which was terrible. Tavola which was average mostly due to their dessert which after dining we asked for one to go for later and was told no. Like seriously? I get no to go orders but we just dined here you could have brought it to my table with a to go box and I could have done it myself. It’s the lack of care all around. Did reservations for our beach chairs only because we had our dogs, had to ask for the waters and coolers both days several times. One day never got the snacks which they advertised which wasn’t much but for $120 a day bring what you said. The servers on the beach you wait an hour to come back with drinks. Never got some of our food. I called for a ride to the spa had to call 3 times. Concierge told me food was available at the spa well it is but not in the morning so had zero options for food. We were at the ocean club cloister which was great for privacy with the dogs, view was beautiful but it had zero amenities. No coffee, quick bites, service at the pool was a no. Charged for bike rentals for $2000 a night why aren’t they included? Can’t cancel dinner reservations even 24hrs in advance it’s 72 which is crazy. We wanted to just to leave early instead of breakfast but they said yes but was charged like $300+. They realize once you eat there you won’t want to so they make it impossible to cancel. It was Easter weekend so they had things going on like bingo but no idea how we would know that. They don’t have a list of day activities or anything available. For the cost I won’t come back and frankly they won’t care. Unfortunate as the golf course was amazing and service there was on par. The employees said when the new family took over they don’t want to pay so all the old staff left and it’s a revolving door, well that I could definitely see because majority of the workers were no pleasant. George is the one shuttle driver that was super nice and pleasant. . Felt like the owners don’t want to put money into this place to digitize. Like having a flag at the beach for service with hundreds of people it j

From the staff to the food and location, it absolute gem of a hotel. We spent 4 nights for a conference at the Cloister and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located along the Atlantic offering a warm beach feel with the amenities of a 5 Start Hotel. See you again!

This was our first stay at the Cloister...Having been blessed to stay at many amazing properties around the world, I feel confident in stating that The Cloister is truly a world class experience. Every interaction was made memorable either by the graciousness of the staff, the quality of the food service, the attentiveness of the bartender or the serenity of the environment. I am eager to return.

Someone should mention that it’s a private club and no one is allowed to dine there unless you are a member or guest at the hotel. We planned on having lunch there and checking the place out for our next year’s visit. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to enter the premises.

I escaped with my daughters for a few days of seaside solitude and pampering amidst the beauty of Sea Island. The Cloister was the perfect choice for a lovely getaway vacay. Its grounds are impeccably maintained, and we love all the gorgeous spots to enjoy being outside.
