Wilderness Hotel Muotka & Igloos

What an incredible weekend we had. We have no complaints! It was the perfect weekend between relaxing but also enjoying the thrill of snowmobiling and hunting the northern lights. The hotel staff were absolutely amazing. Even though it’s the end of the winter season for them (and they are tired) they still gave us such an amazing experience. Every single guide we had was such a delight. I highly recommend and hope we can come back again one day! The food was amazing as well. I will say, snowshoeing was a little more physical than we anticipated, but was still so fun!! Nothing but a good workout (that we needed after eating all the yummy food) We appreciate the staff and the hotel for allowing us to see such a wonderful place!

We visited Muotka, for 5 days at the end of november 2023, and no matter how much we hype up the resort, it still doesn't feel like we are doing it justice. What a great vacation we had. The accomadation, staff, food, experiences were absolutely top. From check in to check out, the staff in the hotel/restaurant made our stay feel special. The activity staff, were friendly and engaging and the standard and selection of food at breakfast , lunch and dinner was 5 star. We stayed in the aurora cabin with a sauna which was really cozy and the bed really comfy, and were fortunate enough to see the lights which was a huge bonus. We experienced the husky sled ride, which culminated with a much welcomed hot berry drink and a snack. In front of an open fire as it was -21 degrees that day, but this didn't spoil the experience what so ever. Next day we did the snowmobile experience, which was about 4-5hrs in total including a beautiful bowl of salmon soup at the top of 2nd highest hill in the region at the top of a ski slope, which the name escapes me. Guides were great even after we managed to find ourselves parked at the base of a tree in the woods. Ooops. The next day we did a reindeer experience, this was much shorter about 2-3 hrs as we went to the farm by minibus, there is an option to go by snowmobile which is a 5-6 hr ecperience. Again the guides and reindeer owners were great and engaging. There were other experiences avialable, snowshoeing, x-country skiing, aurora hunts at night by minibus or snowmobile. We did not partake in these but spoke to people who did and they all said all of the experiences were great. During the evenings we went for walks on some designated routes, and chilled out, and this was the perfect place to do that. We will deffinitely make plans to come back. Staff hyper nice and friendly Restaurant is well designed with nice cheminey Food ok! Cheif was doing specific dishes for us as we do not eat other than veg and fishes. Walking in the forest was waw Activities are very good, Claudia is very nice :). @even we could not see the northen light. Points to be improved - no wifi at cabin - no free shutlle bus to the town - more reataurants like italian! - cabin aurora room was hyper small no space for clothes, as sauna inside shower is with the toilette ! - no espresso machine inside espetially that we have the high level room with 600 euros per night ! - no toothpaste or tooth brushes nor slippers - it would be nice if they show us a 5 min video about northen light (how it is formed, where and when to find)

Wonderful experience. Staff were friendly, group activities were fabulous and the guides were knowledgeable and helpful. They really look after you with appropriate gear and good safety culture. Rooms were fabulous and great food. Highly recommended.

Very impressed with the hotel! Staff are wonderful and helpful, tours were great and small groups. I had the Aurora cabin and was able to see the lights from my bed! The food was delicious! Definitely would go back.

Ditto what Nicola Morris said, was a pleasure to meet you both. I too was lucky enough to go there for my 60th. We had a private snow shoeing with Lisa, brilliant night as well as the show we had from the lights. Food, location, staff, activities all made an unforgetable experience. Stayed in the Aurora cabin for 4 nights and made good use of our sauna. Watching the lights from our bed was amazing. We also did the snow mobile adventure, reindeer snow mobile, huskies, aurora camp, (saw lights back at the bar, lol). Highly recommend. Lowest temp was minus 32, but we were toastie in the onesie, mittens, socks and boots supplied. Highly recommend. Joe &Corrine

Experience of a lifetime in this wonderful place. The surrounding are spectacular and so beautiful. It’s very peaceful. The log cabin was very cosy and the bed extra comfortable. The fire was definitely a plus! We chose the aurora package and all the activities were amazing! We were very lucky to see the northern light too. Friendly staff and good food too. Would highly recommend!
