Loved the hotel, 1st time to Italy, exceptional Staff and great food, spotlessly clean everywhere, everyone makes you so welcome, 100% will book this hotel again, we booked because of the trip advisor rating and it stands to its reputation, well done to all the staff.

We visited here for a landmark birthday. First time to this part of Italy. From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a very special holiday. The location is stunning set high up above Sorrento amidst forests, lemon and olive groves it just oozes charm and tranquility. Yes there is a busy winding road outside, but slightly downhill but it doesn’t impact. On arrival cases were taken to reception by Bruno and we were given Prosecco and snacks and shown to the lounge to relax. We knew it was a 4pm check in so this was no hardship. Our initial favourable impressions remained throughout our all too brief stay, 7 days. Our room on the third floor had a stunning view over looking Capri, the sound of birdsong and a nearby rooster only added to the charm. The hotel is immaculate in traditional style, not like all those glossy carbon copy ones which have no warmth and character or interest in anything but your wallet. La Solara treat you like a member of family, nothing is too much effort and you feel valued by all. EVERY member of staff is highly trained and excels at what they do . I won’t single any one out because that would be unfair as they are all excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and I did ask some pretty inane questions. We booked a boat trip through the hotel. Well organised, well worth the money. The food is really of a high standard as is the service. I have been to so called five star hotels where it’s felt like school dinners and they want you in and out as quickly as possible. The very opposite happens here. You are allocated a table for dinner, so there is no stampede to bag the best tables, at breakfast you can choose where to sit. It’s waiter service, apart from salad bar. attention to detail matters to them. I particularly loved the breakfast. What a choice! Everything you could wish for and more. Coffee just perfect. The shuttle bus into Sorrento is comfortable, reliable and modern. Sometimes the trip only took 8 minutes. The buzz of this wonderful resort is close by but the tranquility of La Solara is there on your return. It was mixed weather but I still managed to use the pool which is very impressive as is the sunbed area. Plenty of them. No need to rush to put down towels, which are supplied daily. Not far from the hotel, more or less across from it, there is a path which takes you down to a charming cove with a harbour and restaurants. I felt a bit daunted about the trek back up but one of the restaurant owners organised a “taxi” fancy buggy! Straight to the hotel door. Ten Euros very well spent. Would we come back??? In a heartbeat . Easily the best hotel we have ever stayed at and with our advanced years there have been quite a few. La Solara thank you for giving us such a memorable experience. We stayed for 11 nights at the La Solara hotel and despite the iffy weather (an unusual depression over all of Europe) we had the best time. We received a warm welcome (though be prepared for your room not being ready until 1600) and were shown to our room overlooking the sea. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff really make it a special place. There is a network of paths across the Sorrento peninsula which can be accessed from the back of the hotel - the lovely reception staff will give you the local maps. There was plenty of choice at dinner in the evening - the pastas are very good as is the meat and fish cookery, though the veg is a little overcooked for modern British tastes. The Gala dinner on a Sunday was a happy event and we will undoubtedly return to this gem of a hotel again. Thank you

From the location to the food to the staff, we couldn't fault this hotel. We just loved our stay here. Staff at the front reception are friendly and easy to approach. Everyone was a credit to this hotel right down to the cleaners who keep the hotel spotless and the bus drivers who drive the courtesy bus into Sorrento every hour and back again. (not easy on those roads). The restaurant staff and waiters are amazing. The restaurant manager Marcello was a joy to watch at evening meal times. He runs the restaurant with such precision, making sure everyone was seen to. The food presentation and quality was excellent. Just loved it all and didn't want to leave. Will definitely return one day. Molte grazie...

My daughter and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Sorrento. We stayed for a week over the Easter holidays which was a perfect time to visit. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, and its position on the hillside makes it very peaceful. The longer you stay, the less you want to leave as the staff make you feel like it is a home away from home. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, but special mentions would go to the front desk staff as well as Marcello, Giuseppe, Emanuele and Dima in the restaurant and bar. They are very professional, obviously passionate about providing good service, and share their sense of humour which makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. Breakfast is a good spread, but the food at dinner is the real highlight. A choice of 4 options per course, all of which were prepared with real care and tasted delicious. The gala dinner on Sunday was a special experience featuring live piano and a nice opportunity to see and thank the chefs. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and well kept. The decor is traditional Italian which feels very genuine and authentic, in keeping with the local area. Our balcony overlooked the pool and the room was spacious and comfortable. Thanks to the housekeeping staff for keeping our room (212) so clean each day. The shuttle bus was always reliable and so useful for exploring Sorrento with friendly and capable drivers. Sorrento is a great base for exploring the sights such as Pompei, Vesuvius, and the Amalfi Coast. We have already booked our return visit to this hotel for next year, as there is still more to experience in Campania and we can't resist staying here again.

La Solara is a wonderful hotel from the moment you arrive and are greeted with a glass of Prosecco to the moment you leave where they put on a very early breakfast, you are totally spoiled. It is like walking into your Nonas house and being greeted with a hug and looked after. The reception staff are friendly and helpful, book your excursions here , they are reasonably priced and are all well run. Thanks to the man who looks after your luggage from the bus to your room. The housekeepers keep the hotel meticulously clean and your room is serviced daily. The restaurant management and waiting staff run the bars and restaurant like a well oiled machine with their duties carried out to perfection. The food is plentiful with many choices and you cannot fail to get something you like, we particularly enjoyed the gala dinner on the Sunday night, great atmosphere and good idea to celebrate all the restaurant and kitchen staff who do a fantastic job. The pool area is well kept and has magnificent views. The free shuttle bus was a god send to get back and forward to Sorrento and it was always on time. I would say the hotel is more suited to couples and families rather than younger people who are looking for nightlife although there is some evening entertainment on certain nights. One thing to note, the hotel check in is 4pm, due to our early flight we were dropped off by Tui at 12 o’clock, we spent over 4 hours sitting in reception waiting on our room, this was our own fault on hindsight instead of wasting a days holiday we should have either taken the bus to Sorrento for a few hours or have spent the afternoon by the pool however we kept thinking that our room would be ready shortly. If you have an early morning flight arrange to do something after you have dropped your suitcases off. Finally it does not seem fair to single staff members out when they were all so efficient however we must say a special thanks to the barman who helped us when my husband accidentally tipped a table over when squeezing between sofas and smashed all our drinks on the floor, he was very helpful with no fuss at all. Also thanks to Nino and Francesco for their professionalism and friendly faces at dinner and a special thanks to Dima who popped up every where with his infectious smile and giggle he was a pleasure to talk to and looked after us well. We would definitely recommend this hotel, don’t think twice about booking it.
