Rooms were terrible, the bar and staff were friendly, breakfast was very good but the rooms took me back to my prison days.

Good value two night stay . Only one gripe the breakfast is like faulty towers and far too early while on a break you don't want breakfast that early on a morning. The room was spacious and clean ,and comfy bed . Plenty of tea coffee in room also great value all round .

Free car park, check in from 2, had quick drink and walk around the town which is on the doorstep. Check in efficient. Yes there was flies in hotel lobby but was pre warned by reading other reviews. Opening the doors to room the hall way is tired and drab. We were given room 10 which had a double and two singles. Did my checks and all was cleaned well. Extra pillows if needed. Tv in room and drinks tray, clean towels. Our room overlooked the car park and we could hear the beer garden but we booked this stay to have meal out and drinks anyways so the noise didn’t bother us as by time we got in 10-30 the bar and beer garden was dead. Price paying for one night stay £55 for what we got was unbelievable value for money for location, breakfast and a cheap night away in a lovely town with plenty of tea rooms, bars & restaurants. Guys if I had paid £100 plus I probably would grumble at decor but £55 for two people in august on a Saturday night. Wow

I stayed here for 4 nights for business and could really only compliment the food and the lady chef who cooked it. The first night I arrived I was quickly told that the kitchen would be closing at 8pm. It was 7.45 so I quickly had to drop my bags and come back down. The room was really tired and in need of a lot of work, such as flaking paint, broken hand rails etc. Room 15 was right next to the entry door and the slamming of the door went on all night, thankfully the hotel moved me to room 3 the next day. Room 3 was a bit better, however the shower didn’t work. Overall the hotel is in a great location, but really needs some work to bring it back to life. It is very basic and cheap for what you get.

Stayed with 3 friends for a night out. The hotel is in an excellent location for all the pubs and restaurants and not far from station, park and river. As others have said, the hotel is a bit tired, and rooms were clean but basic and could do with a little tlc. However not sure what people expect for price as it was £50 for a double including breakfast and free on site parking. Bed was comfy, towels and linens clean and soft, plenty of tea and coffee etc. Bar area was inviting, good deals on drinks and staff were lovely. Breakfast was canny too. If you're looking for a budget stay, in a great location, would recommend.

just been for the bank holiday weekend for 2 nights and seriously for £60 including breakfast for two it was amazing paid much more in other hotels not nearly as good. Yes it is dated but if you just need to get you head down and enjoy the market town would certainly recommend it. The breakfast full english is made to order which is first class with nothing to critise about. We had the carvery on Sunday again for the price could not fault it choice of 3 meats numerous fresh vegetable availalble excellent. Staff are so polite and really friendly cannot recommend it enough if you want cheap and cheerful we will be back thank you.

This hotel is close to the Train Station in Morpeth and central for so much else. We (we being me and my 12 year old daughter) booked very late and didn't arrive until gone 9.00 pm, in desperate need of some tlc on a night when the temperatures were sub zero. The warm greeting we received immediately made us pleased to have booked here. Because it was so last minute, there was a bit of juggling to get us a room that best suited our needs. They did. Our room (12) was very basically decorated and furnished. But it was exactly what we asked if it was possible to get.I suspect the room is getting ready for a refurb and that's why it had no pictures or wee extra touches. We didn't need the wee touches. We were happy with big immaculately clean room, bed each, heating on, powerful shower and tea and coffee facilities in the room. I was really happy to be able to get a warming rum in the cosy bar as a nightcap. Took it to the room, but under different circumstances would have been happy to sit in there of an evening. We slept well. Breakfast was good. The service was welcoming and I genuinely felt they were willing to (and did) go that extra mile to make sure we had everything we wanted. Had to hang around a lot the next day whilst making new arrangements to return home to Scotland. Again we were made to feel welcome as their guests. I went a wee wander into town. I don't know the area at all. Can I recommend that just round the corner is a Tourist Information centre that also has a HUGE gift shop with over 80 outlets selling local arts and crafts. Beautiful place, was so impressed. Back in the hotel I finally had the opportunity to appreciate what a beautiful building with stunning original features the Waterford Lodge is. It does seem to be suffering a bit from. COVID hangover in terms of some work in progress... ....I can only speak from our personal experience which was a positive one, especially the friendly, professional and canny staff.

We booked a couple of nights away through ***********. And booked this hotel due to it being close to the town. What a let down we got there about 4.30. We wasn't taken to our room, just told where it was, the pictures of the rooms looked really nice. We was in room 17, which had the 4 poster bed in it. Looked nice was a bit chilly as the heating wasn't on. Had a drink the radiator started to warm up, so went for a meal in the bar. Food was quite good. But when we went back to the room the radiator was red hot but no heat in the room. Tried the shower, no hot water. Went to tell the staff was told well it's a old building it takes time. Anyway we was taken to room 14, she tried the shower only to find it was broken. Took us to room 16 which was lovely and warm and the shower also worked. The bed was clean and comfortable. Next day hubby was going to have a shower, no hot water at all. Heating engineers were in the building, but after they had been there was no heating, went out for a lovely meal in the town. Room was freezing when we got back ended up in bed by 9.30 just to keep warm. Wish we had seen the reviews as we would not have booked. And since seeing the reviews and seeing they go back at least 10 years, looks like nothing has been done as all what we have said everyone else had also said. Won't be going back. It needs gutting and rebuilding. Would not recommend to anyone. Will also be telling ***********.

This is the worst Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time the meat was tough vegetables awful and the service shocking a young girl more interested in looking at herself in the mirror other member chatting to themselves most of them had to remind them of my sweets which they forgot about the only good thing was the tea I would not go back here and won’t recommend it to anyone
