Located in a small alley, you’ll need to walk down some steps to get to this alley from 豹子灣 (Baoziwan Jetty). The hotel is in the quiet corner of FengHuang Old Town, the popular nightspots and pubs on the other end of the river. Our room is on the 4th floor (entrance and reception are located on the 2nd floor, bizarre) overlooking the river, giving magnificent views during the entire stay. Room is small, but comes equipped with a powerful air conditioning. Bathroom is a bit tricky as it is a step up, and the drainage is not very efficient, if you have the shower running for some time, there’s risk of water overflowing into the room.

Had someone received us at the main plaza after we took the taxi from train station. The inn was within a short walking distance which was great. Our room was at the top floor (stairs but very manageable) and street facing so we could watch the people passing by below which was fun…very clean and comfortable beds. Had a good night rest. We enjoyed staying at least one night to explore the ancient town. A pity the inn doesn’t have laundry set up for guest use but the owner was kind to let us use their washing machine, much appreciated.

This place is actually nice, very clean and inside everything is modern and quite new. No English at all whatsoever, but staff is highly careful and helpful via wechat translations. The location is really great, just right in the scenic area. The view from the room is wow. After a day exploring the city grab a bottle of something from the convenience store and enjoy it on the balcony (very few restaurants have red wine, the bars are just a few and the prices for drinks if you are not a beer person are extremely overpriced). In the evening it is quite noisy from the bars around but around 22:30-23:00 it will get quiet. Also city lights are turned off after midnight. You’ll sleep well. Ask taxi to stop at the Hongqiao gate, then there are few minutes walk. In the scenic area no cars are allowed, streets are paved with rough stones so dragging a heavy luggage can be sketchy. There is no lift, so you’ll do your workout for the day. The old city is nice exploring on foot, so a full day is to be spent here to enjoy everything. Recommend also the Phoenix park nearby the Tourist Center (it’s also the hotel with the same name).

A Mixed Bag in Fenghuang. My stay in Fenghuang offered a blend of excellent hospitality and comfort with some notable drawbacks. On the positive side, the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, which truly enhanced the experience. The room itself was a haven of comfort; the beds and linens were top-notch, and the couch and desk provided a truly comfortable and functional space. The hotel's location was absolutely perfect, placing us right in the vibrant heart of Fenghuang's action. We also enjoyed a cool view from our room. However, there were a few significant points of caution for future travelers. While we could connect to the Wi-Fi, there was no actual data connection, rendering it effectively useless for internet access. A more concerning issue was the pervasive and foul sewer smell that intermittently filled the room, particularly late at night. It wasn't constant, but when it appeared, it was quite strong and unpleasant. Regarding the view, I had assumed from photos that the hotel was directly on the river. In reality, it's set back about a block, meaning you have to look over some dilapidated buildings to see the river. I suspect lower floors might not have any river view at all. Adding to this, as of May 2025, there's a pretty large construction project occurring just a few meters from the front of the balconies, which could impact the ambiance and noise levels for some guests. Overall, if you prioritize comfort, a central location, and friendly service, this hotel has a lot to offer. Just be prepared for potential Wi-Fi issues, the intermittent sewer smell, and manage your expectations regarding the river view and nearby construction.

Great location, river view, beautiful at night. The downside is too noisy from people walking on the ground floor, surrounding bar. Suggest to sealed the window to prevent the noise. Shower is broken hence water not only came out from the faucet its also from the fuse, it should be fixed. Lao ban niang so friendly and they gave 1 free Miao jia dress so you can wear it and take a photo, additional charge for the headband and makeup. Overall is quite good stay as its only for a night

Thanks to our hosts for picking us up from the area car park and helping us with the luggage all the way to the room. Our hotel is located right at the scenic area main bridge. The view is beautiful and our room was clean and nice. The hosts are super friendly and helpful with everything. The pictures I share are taken from our room balcony on the third floor.

The hotel is located on the side of the river, just in front of the tower, which is one of the main sights in Fenghuang. It's close to everything, and very convenient for sightseeing. The downside of being just in the center of everything, is that the river facing rooms are noisy. There's a bar with live music just downside, and a lot of people passing by. But music stops around 11:30pm, so it's not too bad (they have plenty of ear plugs at the reception if needed). And the view from the balcony is great. The room has all the modern amenities (which I was not expecting in an old town, but was very welcome) and is clean. But the best part is the staff, who were super nice and helpful too. They have great advice for visits, can help with all the tickets and bookings needed, efficient, and with good recommendations. Warmly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel downstream of 凤凰古城! The location is slightly away from the main hustle, offering a quiet and peaceful retreat, perfect for relaxing. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, sharing excellent recommendations for exploring the area and even securing us a great deal on a show. The hostel itself was clean, cozy, and full of charm. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a serene and well-managed stay near 凤凰古城!

When we arrived they showed us our room and offered an upgrade to a bigger room. But as we were happy with the original room we just stayed with that option regardless of there being no view from the window. But what we didn’t know was the view we had led directly into another building and every sound from the neigbourbuilding could be heard. It seems like they have children and it was super noisy in the mornings and evenings. We wished we upgraded in the beginning but after we found out we had already unpacked and didn’t want to pack and unpack again. The room itself was just okay. Close to a very pretty bridge but as it is located at the end of the scenic area going to the other side is kind of far. The stay was still pleasant and they lent us an umbrella.

This city is beautiful on the water, but beware of mosquitoes! I personally would stay no more than one night. You pay for the great location - right on the river and by all the hustle and bustle. The party does not stop at 10pm - I swear it was loud outside until 2am and you definitely hear it. The room we chose (with a large patio) was extremely small and cramped. We couldn't enjoy our patio during the summer because there were so many mosquitoes at the door. We left a mosquito-repellant incense at the patio door and that helped a little, but we didn't dare having tea outside like we originally wanted. The hotel also didn't feel secure. Our room was by the back door, which stayed open for most hours of the day. It was very convenient to get to our room, but the open door felt like a safety hazard. They said that they would close it at midnight, but that is too late for my comfort. Service was okay at best. They tried contacting us before we arrived but we don't have a Chinese phone number. Responses through WeChat were a bit slow during some hours, and sometimes the front desk was empty. Perhaps we were just unlucky. The morning we left, the manager lady seemed the most competent and warm, but everyone else was a bit lackluster. The room is old, and the bathroom has rusting metal. Toiletries were at least covered the essentials. No welcome snacks, but at least there were two bottles of water. Is it bad for us to expect more at the price we're paying? Among all the high end hotels we stayed at during our trip at this price point, this was the least impressive by far. The hotel pictures felt misleading on terms of quality and cleanliness.
