4-Star Hotels in Taiyuan

Stayed in the hotel in September 2025 for four nights. Room was modern and had an open concept design. Hot water and WiFi worked well, and cleaning was done very well. Buffet had good spread of mainly Shanxi local delicacies. I must especially praise the restaurant service staff, especially 杨杨, for being so accommodating, friendly, and personable. On my first day with breakfast, 杨杨, personally explained the different food options to me and made sure all of my needs were cared for. She was exceptionally bubbly and approachable, and was not only the highlight of the hotel, but gave me one of the best services of any accommodation across the world. Regarding location, the hotel was located around 10-15 minutes by taxi from the main high-speed rail station. The only critique I would note is that the air-conditioning in the room was somewhat weak. Overall, the hotel offered good value for money and excellent service, and I am happy to stay again.

Calling itself a designer hotel, and it truly lives up to its name! The overall environment shows a significant investment and meticulous attention to every single detail, which is a huge step up from the standardized experience of business chains. They also offered complimentary afternoon tea and midnight cocktails, which were amazing to enjoy while overlooking the city of Taiyuan from above. Plus, they included a thoughtful gift bag, complete with aged Shanxi vinegar – the hotel really goes above and beyond!

The front desk staff were welcoming and attentive to our needs. The room was clean, tidy, and well-equipped. The self-service laundry room and dryer on the second floor were incredibly convenient; if you didn't have time to wait, you could leave a note, and they'd deliver your laundry to your room. The breakfast offered a good mix of Western and Chinese options and was quite varied. As a loyal Atour member, I'm consistently impressed!

This hotel is located directly opposite Shanxi University and is very close to the South Station. The service was excellent. We were traveling with elderly parents and children, and the male front desk staff member proactively helped us with our luggage, pushed the wheelchair, and even escorted us to our room. We are extremely grateful for his help. Luggage storage was also very convenient. The ground floor has a cafe, and the hotel rooms are upstairs. The basement features a restaurant, gym, and laundry room, so the facilities are comprehensive. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but passing by, we noticed the breakfast spread looked plentiful and the environment was clean. The room was spacious with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. There was a small dining table and a small sofa, and the mini-fridge had iced water, making for a comfortable stay. The decor style and the ancient architectural paintings on the walls were consistent and stylish. Overall, it offers great value for money. We would definitely choose this hotel again when we visit Taiyuan.

If you have big luggage, nobody will help you at the main door. You need strength to lift and carry a few steps upwards to reach inside the waiting hall. The reception was on the fourth floor. The hotel only occupied from 4th to 8th floor. Breakfast was very simple and less choices. I stayed on the sixth floor and it was very noisy. The room was clean,air filter was provided,hot water supply was adequate. In the month of October, the air conditioning was disabled. You are not able to adjust the temperature. I was told just to switch off the AC and opened the windows to let the cold air in. As a result, the noise from the street also coming in. This was a very bad arrangement.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, while going from Pingyao to Zhangjiajie. We arrived at the train station in the evening, and had to take the train the following morning. The hotel offers pickup and drop-off which was very convenient and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy, with snacks, tea and all the furnitures we could need. The staff was SO helpful: they ordered some food for us (everything on the app was in mandarin and we couldn't understand how to do it ourselves), recommended some local favorites, and delivered it to our room. They also helped us do laundry even though it was late in the evening, so we had clean clothes to continue our trip. All in all, our stay was excellent, and I couldn't recommend the hotel more.

The four front desk staff were very welcoming, and the 8-minute walk to the South Railway Station was very convenient. There are restaurants just steps away, making it suitable for business trips and leisure travel. The breakfast was quite plentiful, and I would stay here again next time.

I just had to leave a review! The location is absolutely perfect! You see it right as you exit Taiyuan West Square Metro Station (Exit B), and it's just a few minutes' walk to Taiyuan Railway Station. It's incredibly convenient for catching trains or meeting up with groups, making business trips or vacations a breeze. The front desk staff, especially the young lady, was fantastic – so welcoming and attentive. Check-in was quick, and they were always ready to help with anything, paying attention to every detail. The room was spotless, no weird smells, and the facilities were new and smart, working perfectly. The soundproofing was excellent; it was incredibly quiet at night, and the mattress was so comfortable that I slept soundly until morning. The breakfast selection was adequate, and the taste was on point. It offers amazing value for money and is a truly reliable choice among mid-to-high-end chains. The only minor regret is that the breakfast variety could be a bit more extensive, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience at all. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Taiyuan!

I stayed at the Vienna South Station branch for three days this time, and overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the experience, so it deserves a detailed review. First, the location is perfect – neither too remote nor too noisy. Getting around is super convenient, whether you're heading to the train station or the main city attractions. There are also plenty of amenities nearby, making it a truly 'just right and hassle-free' spot. In terms of price, it offers excellent value for money. Compared to hotels with similar conditions, the pricing here is very reasonable; it's not overpriced just because of its good location. I definitely felt like I got more than I paid for. As for cleanliness, the room was spotless. The bedding and towels were very clean, and even the corners of the bathroom had no stains or odors. I felt completely at ease staying there. The quietness was also a pleasant surprise. I expected some noise given its proximity to a transportation hub, but the room was very well soundproofed. I slept soundly every night, completely undisturbed by outside noise. Breakfast was a major highlight. The variety was extensive, with both Chinese and Western options. Hot dishes, cold cuts, fruits, bread, coffee, juice... every day I could enjoy a full and nutritious meal, starting the day feeling energized. What I want to praise most is the customer service. From the front desk reception to housekeeping, every staff member was smiling, patient, and meticulous. I had only booked for two days, but because I was so comfortable, I decided to extend my stay by an extra day. The front desk staff promptly helped me with the extension without any fuss or trouble. The whole process was smooth and heartwarming. In summary, the Vienna South Station branch excelled in all aspects: location, price, cleanliness, quietness, breakfast, and service. It turned my 'just booked for two days' into 'proactively extended by one day.' I will definitely choose this place again next time I visit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable, high-value accommodation.

Our first night in Shanxi, and the hotel's location was excellent. Right downstairs, there's a bustling area with a night market that's great for food and exploring. The service was pretty standard – not overly warm, but not cold either, which seems to be the norm for hotels in Shanxi. The room itself was spacious, and the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet, which was nice. However, the smart toilet was a bit of a disaster; the auto-spray feature just sprayed water everywhere every time. There's parking, but it's not under the hotel; it's in a different commercial building's basement about 100 meters away, which was a bit of a hassle dragging luggage to. We drove ourselves, but the traffic in that area is terrible, so we ended up relying on taxis to get around.
