Hotels near Green Timbers Lake in Surrey

HVAC was primitive. A hard blow or nothing, and the temperature control was balky. No restaurant. Could choose between 4 or 5 bag breakfasts, which could be picked up in the morning. None of the egg versions were appealing (we tried once), so after the first day we had the oatmeal each morning. Heated the instant oatmeal in the microwave. There was no convenient place for a second person to eat. One drawer in the whole room, and it was just deep enough for a Bible and a Book of Morman. We moved out without using our bonus fifth day and took up residence in the Sheraton three blocks away. That was a wonderful stay.

The location was very good and near to all essential places and amenities. The rooms were very clean and service was tailored to customer needs to avoid contact with clients who did not want it. Access to food and entertainment is so close and available. Excellent front desk and customer service.

Stayed here before years ago, and that experience wasn't great, but since it been such a long time, I thought I'd give them another try as the reviews looked good in general. Checking in and checking out front desk staff was friendly and attentive and recognized my Diamond tier status right away. The cookies they have at check-in we're pretty tasty. The property while nothing to write home about, was clean and well kept, and felt safe overall. Parking spots were super narrow, so if you have a bigger car space maybe hard to come by on either side. Lobby and common areas and hallways all looked clean and up-to-date didn't notice any issues at all. Room was clean, and well kept. But the room did have two problems, 1. the bed was hard as a rock, and not very comfortable at all to me. I found the sofa bed (hide a bed) to be more comfortable than the king size regular bed 2. The light fixtures had a mixture of soft White, daylight bulbs making the room look off based on the light coloring. Breakfast had a good selection of the normal fare you'd find out a Comfort Inn cereal oatmeal fruit pastries etc. Warm food included eggs and potatoes, but the eggs were obviously powdered eggs and we're basically inedible I took one bite and couldn't stomach anymore, the potatoes were cold and rubbery, but at least they were edible and were actually real potatoes. Maybe they should have whoever prepares the cookies, be in charge of making breakfast, as the cookies were far superior to anything we had for breakfast there. I ended up with a better breakfast from Tim Hortons next door, while quite a bit less healthy, but at least it was actually hot and real food and had palatable coffee. Overall the hotel looks nice, and maybe suitable for some, for me it was only good for one night, but I probably won't return.

A nice, comfortable hotel. Staff was friendly, easy check-in. The onsite Moxies restaurant was convenient. The amenities, were decent as well. The rooms are clean, comfortable, modern, with very high ceilings. There is really nothing that was negative.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Burnaby location in order to attend a dinner function nearby. We checked into our room and the heater was already on and set at 68 and seemed to be working OK. Shortly after we arrived in the room, a maintenance person knocked on the door to see how the heater was working. That should have clued us in as to what would happen next. A bit later, the unit started to spit out cooler air. I might add that the unit never cycled off and on as it should. I turned the unit up to around 72 to see if that would make a difference but no it did not. We contacted the front desk and within 5 minutes, maintenance came to check. We were told that the heater had to remain at 68, no higher or it wouldn’t work. I have never heard of such a thing. High temperature in Vancouver was mid 40's dipping into the 30's at night. By this time, it was 5:30 and we had to head out the door for the dinner event at 6PM. I wish we would have demanded a different room, because when we returned it was definitely cooler in the room. We were both tired and needed to leave the hotel early in the morning so we decided to “gut it out”. I looked for additional blankets and there were none. I wound up sleeping a total of 2 hours in my coat. This was not a comfortable experience.  I am generously giving this property 2 stars as the room itself was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The front desk clerk kindly gave us a 50% discount for our discomfort which was the best she could do, but when I contacted their HQ was offered a 50% discount off a future stay. Don't think I will take them up on that offer, but thanks anyway.

Advantages: The decoration can be called a 4-star hotel, the traffic location is convenient, quiet, safe, and the front desk service is in place. At this price, it can be said to be cost-effective Disadvantages: no refrigerator, no indoor swimming pool, a few hairs on the bed, in addition, the air conditioner of this hotel is adjusted to 32 degrees and it blows cold air. This is the case twice, and finally complained about the parking lot that the hotel cooperates with, and clearly told the front desk about the license plate I also confirmed that the license plate number is correct. The hotel system entered my license plate number. The parking lot still put a warning on my windshield the next day saying that this is a hotel parking space. Fortunately, there is no ticket or tow away.

Thank you for the opportunity to describe my Inn at the Quay experience. I was booked for a day procedure at Royal Columbian Hospital at 6:00AM on Saturday May 20. Because I was travelling from out of town and had to be driven home (as a requirement of the procedure) I elected to travel by train to Vancouver and then New Westminster on the day before, Friday. On Tuesday May 16 I booked a room at your hotel for the night of the night of Friday May 19 for $389.00 ex-taxes. My plan was to take a cab to the Hospital and then my daughter was then going to drive to town to pick me up and drive me home after the procedure on Saturday. After travelling to New Westminster I had time to kill because I called the Inn at the Quay to see if I could get an early check in but was told that you were very busy and that was not possible. The hospital recommends attending with only your care card for security reasons. For this reason I had my BC Care Card and the credit card I used to book the room in my cellular phone case. During my wanders I lost my phone. Fortunately I had a significant amount of cash so I got a cab immediately and attended at your hotel. I explained my situation to the clerk on the desk and she said that she could not check me in without the credit card I used to book the room. I asked her if you would charge that card with the room price if I had not shown up and she agreed that that was the case. When I asked if she could just charge the card and let me stay she said that the situation was different and was against your policy. I questioned her further and she summoned a person form the back office who agreed that the situation was completely different and actually said “Sorry, we can’t help you.” When I suggested cancelling the credit card transaction and paying in cash that suggestion was also turned down. Reason was lost on these two minions that are trained to be slavishly obedient to your rules and policies. I am sure that if you question these two they will agree that I was polite and courteous throughout our encounter. After several attempts at circumventing their indifference I felt that I should leave before I started to get mad. As a competent, attentive and businesslike hotelier I am sure you are aware of the saturation in your market on any given day. If you harken back to May 19 you will recall that all of the other hotels in New Westminster and as far as Port Coquitlam were completely booked. No matter, I was able to avail myself of a comfortable chair in the admitting lobby of the Royal Columbian Hospital from 4:00PM on Friday until 6:00AM the following morning. Except of course when I had to leave the admitting lobby while the janitors polished the floors. Because the Emergency Room lobby was full I was able to meet some of the interesting local street residents that were outside at 2:30AM. Great location, easy access to a food court downstairs and also the Metropolis mall. Service is great, we requested for some toiletries and they came very fast. Easy to use app to communicate with the staff there, they are very friendly as well! Love the buffet breakfast, waitress was nice. The only downsides are the pools are bit small and not the cleanest we have seen. The gym is small comparing to the size of the hotel.

This is a fine 3.5* hotel, with great service, solid complimentary breakfast, comfortable beds, quiet rooms, small but good fitness room, and attentive housekeeping. Parking is easy. There's lots of restaurants, shops, grocery stores nearby. For price paid, I would come back here again. You're 40 minutes to the heart of Vancouver but the cost differential is huge.
