When I asked her for nearby food recommendations, she simply replied, 'There are restaurants all down the street behind us.' And when I pressed for specific recommendations, she just told me to 'look it up online myself.' I'm not sure what her issue was.
However, on the second day, the male staff members I encountered were incredibly enthusiastic and helpful. They even added me on WeChat to send me tourist routes and dining guides. It was a shame, though, because we had already planned our activities and meals by researching online. I really wish we had met such helpful staff on our first day.
This hotel definitely has a unique charm, and you can tell a lot of thought went into its design. However, in some aspects, it simply doesn't measure up to a higher-end hotel, like the Hilton experience I had in Chengde, where everything felt designed for the guest's comfort and I truly felt at home. The comparison definitely highlights the discrepancies.
For a budget hotel, it generally has everything you'd expect, but it would be even better if the room included a wardrobe. Additionally, the bathroom faucet looked nice but was inconvenient to use. The showerhead wasn't great either, and the water temperature was unstable. Behind the hotel is an SF Express logistics hub, and the loading/unloading noise at night affected my sleep. The front desk did warn me about this, but I wonder why they didn't suggest upgrading to a room on the opposite side of the hotel for an extra fee, instead of just offering earplugs.
On the second day, I ran out of shower gel and only discovered it when I was already in the shower. I had to call down to have some delivered. I hope housekeeping can be more diligent in checking these amenities during cleaning, to avoid future guests experiencing the awkwardness of finding an empty bottle upon check-in.
Overall, the hotel's location is excellent, and the rooms are quite good. However, there's definitely room for improvement in both staff service and maintenance.
