Just a few minutes’ walk from the Piazzale Roma bus station, this beautiful gem of a B&B is owned and run by the delightful Caterina. Despite a late arrival due to a cancelled flight, my daughter and I found Caterina waiting for us. She took us up to the first-floor Junior Suite, a wonderful surprise upgrade! This large, high-ceilinged, L-shaped double/twin room is furnished in traditional Venetian style, has comfortable seating, a breakfast table, a large chandelier and many table lamps which add to the cosy ambience. Oh, and it also has a baby grand piano, which my daughter made good use of! The clean, contemporary ensuite shower room had plenty of towels and some toiletries. The enormous antique wardrobe has ample storage for clothing, plus a small safe, an iron and ironing board. Most surprising was just how quiet the room was, considering the B&B is situated at the end of a little street just 60m from a busy canal but we heard no noise other than birdsong - and I am a very light sleeper. Breakfast was served in our room: a generous selection of breads and pastries, cereals, yogurt, eggs, juice and hot beverages. Far too many calories but all delicious - and an essential start to a day exploring Venice. Ca’ della Corte is perfect for anyone wishing to stay in an authentic, traditional Venetian palazzo and will be my first choice B&B for future visits. Grazie mille Caterina e il tuo personale!
