"This hotel boasts a fantastic design. Every evening, returning to the hotel, I was captivated by the stunning starry sky ceiling at the entrance – very unique and upscale. In the late afternoon, I enjoyed the hotel's infinity pool, which offered incredible views of the entire Vientiane cityscape. The pool water was also immaculately clean. Overall, the hotel's design is very high-end and sophisticated, perfect for business travelers, making for a very comfortable stay. The guest rooms offer a complimentary mini-bar with free drinks and snacks. A special mention goes to the coffee in the room – it was absolutely delicious, a local Lao blend, and there were also tea bags. I stayed for several days, and the experience was truly excellent. "Large, modern and impressive hotel. The bedroom was beautiful and very well appointed, with a comfortable bed and excellent shower plus bath tub as well. For all that, the service was generally poor if not unacceptable. On one occasion I had to ask for/order coffee on four times over a 20 minute period before my drink arrive. The breakfast buffet was extensive and generally good, although the breakfast coffee was at best luke warm on the first day and stone cold on the second day. Having passed comment both times, the coffee on the third and final day was acceptably warm but still not hot. The worst experience was ordering some snack type hot food one evening and having waited for 2 hours, choosing to give up go home feeling miserable (and hungry). The duty manager admitted to the hotel's mistake and offered took responsibility for the bill, although the hotel staff did try to charge me the following morning upon checkout, I left the hotel without feeling as if I was a valued customer, rather a feeling of being a second class citizen and unwanted guest."

Grand Szechuan Hotel Vientiane Hotels in Vientiane

Grand Szechuan Hotel Vientiane

"A typical Chinese-style hotel. Please note that smoking is allowed everywhere in the hotel. If you’re traveling with children or you don’t smoke, it’s better to choose another place. English is not spoken here at all - I had to use a translator at the reception, and the staff member was clearly annoyed about having to stop playing on her phone to communicate with me. (To be fair, this isn’t just this hotel -in many hotels across Laos, staff often seem reluctant to interact with foreigners.) Overall, the hotel is fine for solo travelers. It’s quiet - despite some mentions of discos or KTV, there is nothing like that inside the hotel. There is only a massage/spa on the third floor - the music isn’t too loud, and it’s turned off around midnight. I can’t comment on the breakfast, as I wasn’t able to wake up early enough to try it. Also keep in mind that the café/restaurant inside the hotel does not operate in the evening, and the nearest shops are quite far away. Within the hotel, you can only buy water and cigarettes. The room itself is quite dirty, despite attempts to clean it: the walls are stained, and the floor is in very poor condition. However, the bedding is fresh and clean, and the bed is comfortable - it seems they do take care of that part. As I smoke and travel alone, I was personally fine with everything. However, others should consider carefully whether they’re comfortable staying in a Chinese-style hotel where smoking is allowed throughout."

MANGROVE HOTEL ★★★★★
"This hotel met my expectations and then some! First off, even though the staff were Lao, they all spoke Mandarin, so communication was a breeze. Secondly, the room offered fantastic views of the surroundings, and the facilities and decor were on par with a five-star hotel back home. This was definitely a highlight. The only minor downsides were that the bathroom felt a bit off-putting, and the air conditioning filters could use a more thorough cleaning. Other than that, the experience was excellent. Then there's the airport pick-up service – the driver arrived almost an hour earlier than I expected, which meant I could get straight into the car upon exiting the station. I arrived at the hotel super early and was able to check in. My flight landed at 9 AM, and I was checked in by just after 10 AM, which was incredibly convenient. The front desk staff were also great; their Mandarin recommendations for local restaurants were all fantastic. However, there was a slight hiccup regarding transportation to the train station. One staff member told me there were no direct public buses from the city center to the high-speed rail station, suggesting a taxi or the hotel's shuttle service for about $10. The price was tempting and comparable to a taxi, offering great flexibility, so I'd still recommend it. But I found their explanation confusing because I had read on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) that there were indeed shuttle buses from the city. Another staff member was more straightforward, saying there should be a bus but admitted he'd never been to the high-speed rail station himself and suggested a taxi might be a better option. Overall, the minor issues don't overshadow the positives. I highly recommend this hotel!"

"This hotel has a fantastic ambiance, delicious breakfast, and convenient parking. There's also an outdoor infinity pool with panoramic views of Vientiane. Overall, it's a very satisfying hotel. It has a unique character, with a mini-bar in the guest rooms, which are also very spacious. The air conditioning in the lobby is very comfortable, and there's a coffee shop there too. It definitely feels like a high-end business hotel."

Holiday Inn & Suites VIENTIANE by IHG ★★★★★
"This is a high-standard chain hotel. I regularly travel to Vientiane, so I’m quite familiar with the common challenges faced by large hotels here—especially when it comes to staff quality, which often doesn’t match the standards of big hotels in other countries. However, this hotel is making a noticeable effort to address that issue. While it’s not perfect yet, you can still clearly feel the luxury and overall standard of the property. In terms of cleanliness, aesthetics, and organization, there’s nothing to complain about. The hotel maintains a solid 5-star standard. The property feels very new, and it comes with modern technology—USB-C ports and wireless charging are available in the rooms. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Similar to the staffing issue, many large hotels here tend to struggle with maintaining consistent food quality. But here, everything passes—taste, ingredients, and variety are all on point. It feels comparable to staying at Holiday Inn properties in Thailand, which are known for their high standards."

"Location wasn't far from shopping district down pongdalan rd, only caveat is the wifi sucks, it cuts out every 10 to 15 minutes, made it extremely hard for work to be done, and for my tiktok. Also, Laos sim card and network cut out ALL tiktok live streams, couldn't access them at ALL... If you're a tiktoker, don't count on doing ANYTHING on it from Laos..."

"The hotel itself looks great and clean. The room was nice with all modern amenities provided, just a bit smoky smell. I personally like mattress and pillows, it’s very comfy and physically support. Hotel’s breakfast was just so so, there were salad, bread with no baking oven, boiled eggs, ham and fried rice. Pho was provided at a separated station which is good taste. The reception staff is nice and friendly."
