Fantastic food and service will definitely be back. The kids loved the food, and there was plenty of it. The staff are friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble and they catered for our daughter and her needs. I had the Sunday lunch and the beef was absolutely beautiful.

Been to Parkside Hotel tonight for food. First of all they were extremely accommodating as we didn't call for a table until we'll after 8 o clock and they fit us in no problem what so ever. The service was brilliant. The lady that served us was quick, polite, pleasant and extremely professional. The food arrived in record time and can only be described as bloody tremendous. I got Surf and Turf and Gary got the Paraide burger. Both absolutely top quality and beyond delicious! The chef even come out to have a little chat and introduce himself. All I all it was an absolute pleasure! Could not recommend enough.

Booked the Parkside for a birthday meal for myself and my husband. We were very impressed by the service and the menu range, especially the gluten free options. Nothing was too much trouble. This was one of the nicest meals out that we have had in a while. Will definitely be returning.

The food was excellent. The staff and chef were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The menu although small had options for all tastes and eating habits. the wide selections of alcoholic beverages would satisfy most if not all drinking requirements. of course there was also soft drinks teas and coffees available to.

Really poor First the positives, room was ok, bathroom was modern, plenty of hot water and breakfast was good. Bar staff and chef were lovely. But this was all overshadowed by continual problems with the heating in our room. We got there at 3.30pm after booking well in advance. We were showed the room and it was really cold. Manager apologised and when to put the heating on. ( a switch behind the bar downstairs) We went out with friends and returned at 10pm to find the hotel in darkness and the heating in our room was off and the room was freezing. It was minus 5 outside, unbearable. Heating was on in the corridor but not the rooms. Someone had accidentally turned the heating switch off behind the bar, locked up and left. There was no staff or management in the hotel overnight so we were left to fend for ourselves. We had to sleep fully clothed. I couldn’t sleep so from 4am started ringing the hotel phone number hoping it would divert to someone’s mobile, but no. The manager could not apologise enough next day, but not enough to offer a refund or buy us a drink when we were in the bar on Saturday. We woke up on Sunday morning and yes the heating was off again. Unbelievable. Also, the hotel football team had a party downstairs on the Saturday night and some of them were drunk and were running up and down the stairs to ‘see who was stopping here’ There should be a security door to keep guests way from the public at night. Absolutely not good enough.

Stayed at this hotel for the second night of our coast to coast walk. Had large room overlooking the road and the fells in the distance. The room was comfy and clean with everything you needed. We ate in the restaurant that night and the service was good. We were all very pleased with our food. Two of us had the Parkside lamb which was great. The same chef was there again, early next morning to prepare our breakfast which was excellent.

Tricky to review this place as you get what you pay for, and it was 'ok' but given the reviews on here I was expecting a lot better. Personally I wouldn't stay again but have gone with 3/5 to try to be fair. The rooms are above a noisy pub and when I stayed looked like they were having roof problems as there was tarpaulin and buckets all over the roof outside the window. Thr room itself was spacious but a real paradox - in some ways very nicely decorated and maintained but in others pretty tatty/poorly thought through. For example, one bed was across the front of the wardrobe making it unuseable. The kettle had no socket anywhere near it to enable it to be used, and one of the lamps appeared to be shorting out, flashing on and off. The bathroom was similarly odd, with decent quality material but a tap that refused to get warm and a shower tray that moved when standing on it, feeling like it was about to give way. There was also various noises (fans running?) periodically throughout the night that were enough to keep waking me, and give some pretty poor nights sleep. Although the bed was advertised as Super King, it was actually 2 singles pushed together, which is a pet hate as it it both uncomfrotable and significantly shorter than a King/Super King. No toiletries were provided in the room despite being included in the listing and was told they had none when asking about this. I stayed two nights and there was no servicing of the room either.
