Chaozhou·Guangdong Chaozhou Ancient City Chaozhou has always had a gentle influence on me. I remember the bowl of beef balls from the old shop in the old city of Chaozhou on my way back from Raoping one year, and I added another bowl of beef balls which was still not enough. This time I came back from Fujian to visit Chaozhou specifically. As soon as I entered the city, I felt like I had fallen into a sea of people. Cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, bicycles, and tricycles were all driving freely. Regardless of the turning road or even the crossroad, there were few red and green instructions. The roads under the banyan trees were slightly dark, and the vehicles were crowded and stagnant, but there was rarely any honking. The whole city maintained a harmonious and optimistic state of patience. I learned from the locals and parked my car under the city wall. As I walked, I looked back at the haphazardly parked vehicles. A police motorcycle whizzed past, so I confidently walked into Paifang Street. Starting from the ten sounds left by Zheng Cuo Lane, a series of new archways were lined up. The aroma of various snacks under the arcades on both sides attracted the sparse people. Very few people noticed the four-eyed ancient well in the corner of the street. Why is there a pot rack in the middle of the occasional hand-beaten beef balls and the full-faced noodles? The main gate of Kaiyuan Temple exudes a mixed smell of newly painted paint and incense. Looking at the temple invaded by electronics, I hurried past. Guangji City Tower just has an ancient name like a tall and mighty young man. Xiangzi Bridge integrates arch bridge, beam bridge, and pontoon bridge into the only highlight of this trip. At dusk, the bridge will be dismantled and left for boating. The remaining Chaozhou Ancient City has also become a chaotic commercial street. Tourists and vehicles are integrated into the life of the market. The space of Confucius Temple has been surrounded by scaffolding. All the old things will become charged attractions. Chaozhou is a city for roaming. Although the city's traffic is a bit chaotic, the old charm is still worth touching. 🥗Eat: Chaozhou's food is famous far and wide, with various introductions emerging in endlessly. Everyone has different tastes, so don't follow blindly. I only think that what I love to eat is the first choice for beef balls. I feel average about beef tendon balls. I also love seafood porridge. Braised goose is not as good as braised flavor. A platter with a small wine is enjoyable. Raw marinated seafood is endless. 🍵Drink: Chaozhou people love Kung Fu tea. From waking up to going to bed, from tea leaves, tea utensils, water, fire, and stove, they are all exquisite. Other teas can be accepted and accustomed to southern tea art, but the single-cong tea that Chaoshan people love the most can't be drunk freely. After drinking a few cups, my hands tremble and I feel guilty. Eating a few bowls of rice can't solve it, so I can only stay away from it in the future. 🛞Play: The first recommendation is Guangji Bridge. Regardless of being listed as one of the four ancient bridges, it is worth a visit just to see the story of crossing the river and dismantling the bridge. This bridge across the Han River is a combination of pavilions, towers, and pontoon bridges, which is interesting. Binjiang Promenade, strolling along the river bank, watching the ancient city tower, and enjoying the neon night view is a good place. Xiangpu Village, known as the Little Forbidden City, has a large and neat residential building, which is curious and pleasing to me who loves ancient villages. The ancient village of Longhu in Chaoan District is like a city, with three streets and six lanes, and more than a hundred ancient buildings can feast your eyes. In addition to Kaiyuan Temple, some other niche points can be used as references: the wood carvings of Jilue Huanggong Temple, the Confucius Temple of Changli Road Confucian Temple, the tea culture of Zizheng's Mansion in Jiadi Lane, etc. 🧸Suggestion: Paifang Street seems to have become a must for tour groups, with messy crowds and popular attractions. People who don't like the hustle and bustle can take a quick look. 🎧Music: Chaozhou music has always been one of my favorites. Cold crow plays water, Ping Sha falls wild goose, Phoenix seeks phoenix, and the British song and dance in the past two years are even more magnificent and shocking.
