Wat Rong Khun (The White Temple)

The temple is very beautiful. You can tell from the pictures that it is beautiful. You have to come see it with your own eyes, it's truly beautiful. Admission is free for Thais, and 100 baht for foreigners. You must dress appropriately. Women should not wear tank tops or shorts. In addition to the temple itself, there is also an art cave. The admission fee is 50 baht per person. Inside the cave, there are modern decorative plaster works that you will enjoy looking at. The gallery section can be viewed for free. You will see the paintings of Ajarn Chalermchai. This is a very unique and interesting design for a more modern Wat. I would suggest studying the founder of this temple, Chalermchai Kositpipat, and what he aims to symbolize in creating this structure. There is also a museum that has his works from the early days to the recent ones. I would also suggest visiting it (free admission). The White Temple was designed by Thai visual artist Chalermchai Kosipitat, who is widely known for his Buddhist works. He stayed in Sri Lanka for six months to study Sri Lankan architecture, and the white statues and temples of Sri Lanka inspired him. Wat Rong Khun is about the hidden Buddhist teachings mixed with modern idols. The white represents the purity of Buddha, while the reflective mirror surface represents the wisdom of Buddha shining across the earth and the universe. Located in Chiang Rai, the White Temple or Wat Rong Khun is a 3-hour drive from Chiang Mai. Arrive early to avoid the crowds and visit on a weekday.
