📍Shantou Longquan Rock
🏠Address: Ciyuan Road, Jinping District, Guangdong Province
🔸
🔸
🚗You can choose to drive or walk. If driving, you can choose how much you want to climb and just park in the open space.
🚌For friends in the city, you can take a bus to Longquan Rock Station, or choose to ride an electric bike, as there are shared electric bike parking spots. After getting off the bus, walk inside for eight minutes (see image two), keep going past the parking lot, and follow the signs to the Longquan Rock pedestrian path, which is the starting point for the hike.
🎬The mountain is divided into several checkpoints: Tielin Temple — Qingyun Zen Temple — Diamond Rock. The first half is a slope and the second half is stairs. The second half is a bit dangerous as there is no separate pedestrian and vehicle lane. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to each checkpoint, approximately two hours to ascend and one hour to descend. Including rest, picnic, and photo-taking time, the whole trip took about four hours.
🔸Tielin Temple: The largest temple with an overall ivory-white design, and there's a vegetarian restaurant where you can have lunch. However, the 20 yuan options are limited, and I personally wouldn't recommend it if you want something better. You might choose to eat at University Road after descending for more options.
🔸Qingyun Zen Temple: The 'Little Forbidden City' is really super beautiful, with bright red walls that look gorgeous when the sun is just right. It's great for taking photos in traditional costumes. There are also many forks leading to different viewing spots that you need to discover on your own.
🔸Diamond Rock: The steps are quite steep, but once you reach the top, you can overlook the entire city. The wind isn't too strong in November. The ladders that were climbable before have been dismantled, so you can only sit on the rocks below to take photos, which is also quite nice!
⚠️The whole journey is quite steep, so be sure to wear sports shoes and bring drinks and water. There are many rest stops along the way, with tea houses and snack bars. The price for grilled sausages at 2.5 yuan isn't too much of a markup.
