"The soundproofing is excellent, making it very quiet, which is a blessing for light sleepers. They also provide complimentary water, biscuits, desserts, coffee, and tea. Surprisingly, there's even popcorn and instant noodles! As soon as you enter, you can feel how thoughtful the hotel is. It's also conveniently located, just a seven-minute walk from the MRT station. I highly recommend this place; I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Taoyuan."
JJodieGThe staff were really lovely and I'm sure that had I have spoken Chinese, the things I'm about to say would've been different as I would've been able to explain them over the phone and get them rectified.
CONS: I didn't get there until almost 1 am due to a flight delay and then missing the last MTR, so by the time I did get there all I wanted was a hot bath and a quiet night's sleep.
Firstly, the room had definitely had smokers in it previously. They may have done a treatment but it was still noticeable.
Secondly, there was 'hair' in the bathtub from a previous occupant. So I definitely didn't use it.
Thirdly, I got almost no sleep – even though the bed was really comfortable – because the smoke alarm in the room needed its battery replaced and spent all night making that very loud high-pitched sound that you cannot ignore!
Now again, had I've been able to pick up the phone and ask them to come and sort it, it could have been a different story, but...
PROS: the room was a great size, and the bathroom had both a spa bath and a walk-in shower. It also was very large and is well set up for customers to drive their vehicle into the ground floor of the unit then go up the stairs to the first floor where the actual room is. The staff were very nice and welcoming even though I arrived so late and even gave me some instant noodle cups. I also got a voucher for breakfast, but didn't end up getting to use it as I was too tired to get out of bed and go there before it finished.
I may not be the target clientele for this establishment, and while this particular stay had farcical elements, now that I know what it's like and how it works, I probably would stay there again simply due to how nice the staff were. It's not their fault that I don't speak Chinese.

GGuest UserThe TV was friendly to couples staying at a motel, the air conditioning was very cold, the bathtub was large, the showerhead was so powerful you could feel the wind, and they provided items couples might need, including cookies.
GGuest UserWe needed a place that accepted check-in late at night near Zuoying Station, so this was the deciding factor for my booking this motel. It took about 10min to walk from the HSR station to the motel.
Too bad we don't have a car, because we had a parking space! Check in was easy and our room was spacious... It did smell like old cigarette smoke, but the sheets and bathroom were definitely clean. The floor directly outside of the bathroom was very warped from water damage, but it held up under our feet. The interesting chair was interesting, but not put to use.
Breakfast was set outside the room shortly after I rang for it. Very dry sandwich, but edible.
I did make use of the teas and coffee provided, much appreciated.
It's a functional place.
GGuest UserI stayed at Discovery Motel Nan’gang for three nights. While the pricing is reasonable and the included simple breakfast is appreciated, it’s important to note that this motel is designed with couples in mind and is not suitable for families or those seeking a more traditional hotel experience.
The key advantage is its convenience for those traveling by car — each room has a dedicated parking spot right in front of the door, which makes access very easy. The location is relatively accessible by car, but may not be ideal for guests relying on public transportation.
Overall, it offers good value for specific types of travelers, especially couples or solo drivers, but I would not recommend it for family stays.
GGuest UserRight across from the 'Hongshulin' MRT station exit, cross the road and walk straight up the 'Wooden Plank Road' stairs (uphill). Then, turn left and walk for about 3 minutes, and you'll arrive. The entrance guardhouse also serves as the check-in and luggage storage counter. Inside the room, there's an entryway with a shoe-changing area and two doors (very safe and quiet). This time, I unexpectedly stayed in a corner triple room (a super large double bed + a single bed), and the space was incredibly spacious and comfortable. It featured wooden floors, a satin sofa, and a marble coffee table. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, a marble-tiled shower, a washstand, and a super large, comfortable silver-white jetted tub (with lights that gradually change colors above, creating a dreamy ambiance – soaking in the tub while listening to the birds in the garden was pure bliss!). Each area had its own independent space. Breakfast is included and served in time slots; it was nutritious, delicious, and tasty.
GGuest UserAlthough the equipment is a bit older, what I want to praise is that the service attitude is super good.
I hope the double room can have multiple small tables, which is more convenient for eating and drinking🤣
GGuest UserThe room was clean, and the location was excellent with plenty of food options nearby. The service was also good. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I would definitely come back.
AAlan & Rendy WongWe booked two rooms, one large family room and one couple room. The prior one is spacious, very well designed and it even has an amazing sauna room which was a nice touch to the stay. The kids had loads of fun and laughter. The beds are huge so it can easily fit 4 and maybe even 5 for younger kids. The later is a bit worn down with wallpaper coming off, stains around the tub and just an overall worn down feel to it. So if you can afford a few hundred NT$ more, I would suggest staying at the bigger room to enjoy a good full stay. Breakfast is delicious 😋
GGuest UserThe property is amazing with super facilities and is maintained very well by the staff. The reception staff is very helpful. Our stay was most enjoyable. Lot of facilities in form of food outlets ,7-11, bus station, swimming pool and spa are all closely located.
