Situated in the Altstadt-Nord district, Hotel Merian is a short 2-minute walk from Cologne Central Station (Köln Hbf) and less than 10 minutes on foot from the Cologne Cathedral. This is the kind of hotel I am looking for and I highly recommend to anyone who is searching for an affordable stay in the heart of Cologne city.

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and always greeted us with a smile. They were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel environment is lovely, situated right by the Rhine River, and has a strong artistic vibe indoors, with art pieces even in the rooms. The Chocolate Museum is right across the street, and there's a bus stop conveniently located outside. While it's a little further from Cologne Central Station, it feels much quieter and less noisy. The rooms are spacious, modern, and soundproof. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit. Highly recommended!

The hotel was clean and tidy, a classic German budget hotel. The front desk service was excellent, and the breakfast was good. Parking was free, and having a supermarket right next to the hotel was very convenient. Definitely a worthwhile choice when visiting Cologne!

Excellent room, service, breakfast and location. Go ahead, fabulous choice in accommodation. Cannot believe how spacious this hotel was compared to the Marriott hotels I stayed in previously.

My children wanted to have chocolate on Easter morning.My kids really wanted it, so I asked a male room cleaner for an Easter rabit chocolate, but I don't know the name. After wait a few minutes and then he got me one. he was so kind and thankful, but I couldn't tip him because i didn't have the cash. Please pass this massage on to him. Thank you very much.

This is a great hotel with new facilities, perfect for exhibitions and tourism. It's definitely worth choosing, especially given its excellent location close to both the train station and the exhibition hall. The hotel also has a cafe, ideal for chatting with friends or business associates.

Nice room, have locker for keeping lugaage, smooth check-in with deposit €30 per day, great location, good breakfast. The bedsheets and blanket were not changed during my 4-day stay.

I've been here a few times now and it's the only hotel I'll stay at, it's very very nice the staff are great very welcoming. The room was nice and cosy bed super comfortable.

We come to this hotel every year, and we can see the facilities in the room degrading. The were fine around 2016 to 2019, after covid lock down, when we were back in 2023, still good, and 2024, fine. Till this year, 2025, the toilet flush is half broke, shower head is not in good condition. Breakfast service is shrank, no more take away coffee cups.
