I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel in Japan. One highlight was how fast and efficient the hotel check-in process was. And the overnight parking is available at a nearby building for ¥1,000.
The room was considered spacious compared to typical hotels in Japan, which made the stay very comfortable. They also provided all essential amenities.
Breakfast was another plus, offering a wide variety of delicious options to choose from.
Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Odate City, surrounded by numerous restaurants and shopping areas. We drove ourselves, and free parking was provided. The onsen facilities were adequate. While breakfast and dinner were not served, complimentary ramen and rice were available in the evenings. The staff were also very friendly and polite. It's a hotel I would recommend to friends.
A nice hotel. We drove there and parked the car in the hotel car park which is a mechanical car park. Just make sure you’re prepared to quickly remove the luggage you need before the car is stored away for the night. Parking at the nearby car park at ground level would have been about the same price and probably more convenient for us, our fault for not researching properly.
The staff were very pleasant. The hotel is fairly close to the central park and not that far from the train station. There’s a 7 Eleven down the stairs of the hotel.
Akita Castle Hotel exceeds expectations! Not only is the hotel itself a stunning gem, but the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their warm hospitality makes you feel right at home. Kudos to the team for providing exceptional service and making our stay truly unforgettable!
Couldn't sleep on a futon, so I opted for a Japanese-Western style room. It was quite spacious. There's no central air conditioning, so they use oil heaters. Initially, the smell of lamp oil was really strong and I found it quite off-putting, but after a couple of nights, I gradually got used to it. The breakfast and dinner buffet was a bit simple, but the food tasted pretty good. They even had late-night noodles! The snow view was absolutely stunning and very impressive. The hotel offers a convenient shuttle service to and from JR Tazawako Station.
The bath also has a great view. In the evening, we had curry (with ham cutlet), which was delicious! They also had kiritanpo sets available as gifts, so I gave one to an acquaintance.
Located in a remote part of the lake, this hotel is has a great view of the lake and a marvellous garden
The rooms are large with western beds as as as tatami futons
I had the lake view room. Magnificent view
Unfortunately in early spring, the spectacular autumnal foliage shown in the all the posters were absent
The onsen do have a great view but again in spring time there was nothing much to see except the lawn and the bare trees
We did not take dinner here but breakfast was decent
Good place for zen relaxation.
The five-person room was a little cramped, but although the room was a bit old, it was very clean.
Dinner and breakfast were both buffet style; the selection wasn't extensive, but the ingredients were fresh and tasty.
There was a free drink bar and popsicles outside the large public bath, and inside the bath, there were children's toys for soaking, which is rare in Japanese hot springs.
Overall, if you plan to visit nearby attractions, it's a great accommodation choice.
If you're visiting Akita in the summer, this hotel is a fantastic choice, especially since Senshu Park's lotus pond, brimming with beautiful lotus flowers, is literally right at its doorstep. It's also just a short walk to the Prefectural Art Museum, making the location incredibly convenient. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options. The only minor point was that the onsen (hot spring bath) felt a bit crowded, likely due to it being peak season.
My husband and I stayed in a twin room, and the bed was big, the room was spacious and bright, and there was a large public bath in the hotel, so it was comfortable. There was a convenience store right in front of the hotel, so it was very convenient and good value for money. If I come here again, I would like to stay here again.

Great
We stayed two nights. It was a great experience. Room itself is good, bed is comfortable. Got onsen and free half portion of ramen and rice after 7:30pm, which is a bonus. Ramen is delicious. However, service for a part-time staff (a girl) was bad! This is the first time we experienced such bad service in Japan. First, her greeting was mean and rude, with no smile on her face and kind of ignoring the customer. Second, after we got the room key and get ready to take the elevator, we didn't know the way. She just kept ignoring us which a normal staff would show you the way to the elevator right after finished check-in. Lastly, after we entered into the room, we found out that the toilet seat was loosen. So we went down to the lobby to tell her about these. She was so unhelpful that she did not even want to come up to our room to see what happen, but just tild us to use the toilet in the lobby instead! At the end, luckily there was another senior full time staff just on duty, we told him about this, and he immediately went up to our room to see what happen. Will give this senior staff a 5 star. So other than that part-time staff (girl), all were pretty good.
The hot spring facilities are excellent, the food is delicious, and the staff are attentive and friendly. In terms of value for money, it surpasses many high-end hotels in major cities. It also has suitable arrangements for preventing bear sightings. Highly recommended!
It's a very typical Japanese hot spring hotel, old but comfortable. The airport transfer service, hot springs, breakfast and dinner were all perfect. We walked along the mountain road to the seaside. The scenery was so beautiful that it cannot be described in words. What was particularly great was that during dinner, the auntie saw that we liked the paper towels under the plates and very thoughtfully rolled new ones for us. It was so heart-warming despite the language barrier. It was the best experience of this trip. . It's a pity that I don't know her name. I hope I can say thank you to her. I will go again in the summer if I have the chance!
