This was our first stop in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and this hotel really shines with its new facilities and excellent location. Most restaurants and shops are just a few minutes' walk away, and ordering food delivery was super convenient. The lady at the front desk even upgraded us to a larger room, which was absolutely fantastic!

Nice, comfortable stay with friendly staff. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. However, we booked a room for 4 persons, but only 2 travel kits were provided (2 toothbrushes, 1 comb, etc.). We had to call housekeeping to request additional items. After a long journey, we were quite tired and hoped the room would be fully prepared according to the number of guests. It would be much better if a complete set was provided upon check-in. Breakfast was simple but nice, which we appreciated. One downside is the parking fee, which is quite expensive — RM30 per day for front shop parking and RM15 for basement parking. Hopefully, the hotel can look into improving or offering better parking rates for guests.

Definitely value for money. Good location with walking distance to Imago shopping mall, Filipino market and famous restaurants nearby. Nice sea view from the room. Cleanliness of the room also above expectation. Breakfast was average but acceptable.

First off, upon entering the hotel lobby, there was a strange, unpleasant smell, which also permeated our room. The odor only disappeared after we blocked the bathroom floor drain and sink. The breakfast, however, was plentiful. We booked an executive room and visited the executive lounge on the 15th floor. The dinner there was just okay; it filled us up, but there wasn't much variety, and on one occasion, by around 8 PM, there was nothing left but juice and beverages. The infinity pool was nice. At check-out, we were missing a room card, but the front desk didn't charge us for it, which was a pleasant surprise. Our executive room had a connecting door to the adjacent room, suggesting they can be linked. The overall soundproofing in the room wasn't great. There are three convenience stores located downstairs from the hotel.

The room was quite clean. It's within walking distance to Gaya Street, Suria Sabah, and other places, as it's located in the city center. Kota Kinabalu is small, so every taxi ride seems to pass by the hotel, and it's very close to the Hilton. We checked in around midnight on the 17th, and the front desk lady was incredibly gentle and kind, providing very professional and warm service. The hotel facilities are a bit old, and the lobby had a peculiar smell, like durian or something similar, which wasn't very pleasant. However, the rooms facing the mountain were very quiet, and I slept really well. Overall, it's worth recommending, and I hope they can provide bottled water in the future.

This is my second stay at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, and the experience was excellent once again! 👍 📍 The location is absolutely perfect, right in the city center. It's a 5-10 minute walk to shopping malls and duty-free shops, and even closer to Durian Street and Gaya Street, making it super convenient for dining, shopping, and exploring. In the evenings, it's lovely to stroll to the night market or the seafront. 🛏️ I highly recommend the high-floor sea-view rooms. The views are unbeatable 🌊, and watching the sunset is breathtaking! The rooms are spacious and clean, the bedding is comfortable, and it's perfect for family trips. They even offer a complimentary extra bed, which is a thoughtful touch. 🍽️ The breakfast deserves special praise! There's a wide variety of dishes, and the freshly cooked noodles and rice vermicelli have different toppings each day – the beef and tendons are incredibly flavorful 😋. The Teh Tarik (pulled tea) is rich and aromatic, and the croissants are thin and crispy, unlike any I've had in China! The Chinese-speaking staff even help prepare the Teh Tarik, providing friendly and attentive service. 💁 The staff are always smiling, proactive, and enthusiastic. Communication in Chinese is largely seamless, making you feel right at home.

I had an excellent stay at Ming Garden Hotel & Residences for my recent business trip. The hotel hits the mark on all fronts—the location is strategic for getting around, and the service was incredibly efficient and welcoming. My room was spotless and very comfortable for working. Highly recommended for business travellers looking for a hassle-free experience.

I love Le Méridien beds, and this stay reminded me why. The bed was spacious, the pillows were generously sized, and the sleep was genuinely delicious. From my experience, Le Méridien consistently delivers some of the best bedding, no matter which city I stay in. I usually book via the Marriott Bonvoy app, but this time I found a better rate on Trip.com. The location is excellent. It sits right in front of the Filipino Market and is just a short walk to seafood alfresco dining and durian stalls. At night, the surrounding roads come alive with makeshift food stalls and small vendors selling all kinds of local items, giving the area a very local, energetic feel. A comfortable stay with great sleep and a lively neighbourhood. The reception at checkin was also efficient and welcoming. Will stay here again.

The hotel room felt a bit old and small, and the bed was narrow. However, the shower pressure was great, and there was unlimited complimentary drinking water. The staff were very enthusiastic, and the public facilities were decent. Breakfast was average, with a Korean focus. The sunset bar had a lovely ambiance, and the hotel's small private beach was excellent for spotting fish. The location between the Magellan and Pacific hotels is very convenient for island hopping, as it's right next to the ferry terminal, and it wasn't crowded. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the city center, which is very handy, and taxis are also readily available.

The decor is a bit dated, but it's very quiet with a nice environment. There's a huge pool with a big slide that both adults and kids will love. It's perfect for a family or couples' getaway.

AAnonymous UserWe booked a Kinabalu Wing sea view room. The room facilities were a bit old, but acceptable. The hotel offers free activities and has its own jetty for island hopping, which, though double the price, is convenient. However, the hotel's service was terrible. We waited in line for half an hour to check in. When it was finally our turn, the front desk staff cut me off twice before I could finish speaking, and their attitude was arrogant. It was infuriating! I was already fuming before even getting to the room. Breakfast also required queuing because there were simply too many people. This really highlights a problem: the hotel's facilities can't keep up. If they have enough rooms to accommodate so many guests, why don't they staff the front desk and provide enough breakfast tables and chairs to match? We didn't even get welcome fruit after checking in. Not that we needed it, but the worst part was that someone came to deliver it only after we had already settled into our room and been asleep for half an hour. The most outrageous thing was that while we were sleeping, I (who wasn't fully asleep yet) heard the doorbell ring twice. By the time I reacted, the service person had already opened the door themselves. If I had been fully asleep and hadn't called out to them, would they have just walked right in? Secondly, the cleanliness wasn't great. There were even stains on the water bottle. Finally, the breakfast wasn't good, and there wasn't anything particularly appealing. Overall, the view is genuinely beautiful, but if you come with expectations matching the price, you'll likely be disappointed.

AAnonymous UserBooked for romantic tent, same like the ad. Looks like a brand new tent, because the colour is still white compared to the others which is already yellowish and got a bit mould. Romantic tent have no shade, so the light shines through into the tent. Even so, the tent doesn't feel hot, the portable aircond keeps it cool inside. asked for keetle from the receptionist. need to ask for keys for private bathroom as they are having renovation during our stay.

GGuest UserFacilities: The rooms are spacious and the hotel is large. Overall, it's suitable for younger children to play. Hygiene: Standard, good. Environment: It's far from the airport and traffic can be bad. Make sure to allow plenty of time if you have a flight to catch. We left at 6:15 AM and arrived at 7:55 AM; our driver was really speeding to get us to the airport on time. Service: I have to complain. 1. Even though we used WeChat to scan the QR code and there were many Chinese guests, the dining and activity information was still in English, and the font was very small, making it inconvenient to read on a phone. 2. When checking in, I told the front desk to pack breakfast on time for our last day, and they agreed and noted it, but they still forgot. All they said was 'sorry' and nothing else... These two points make it far from a five-star experience. The hotel breakfast wasn't very good. There are a few good seafood restaurants around the hotel that are fresh, affordable, and have a Chinese cooking style. I stayed at the Shangri-La on Tanjung Aru Road about ten years ago, and that location is better, though this one is larger.

MMuhammad Damian SanI had an absolutely unforgettable experience at Sutera @ Mantanani Island. From the moment I arrived, I was completely mesmerized by the island’s beauty the crystal clear turquoise waters, soft pearly sand, and breathtaking views felt like something out of a dream. Every moment spent there was pure bliss. What truly made the experience even more special was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their genuine smiles and welcoming hospitality made me feel right at home and added so much heart to the trip. Whether relaxing by the beach or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, everything about Mantanani felt magical. Overall, it was a perfect escape, and I truly enjoyed every second of my stay. Sutera @ Mantanani Island is a hidden gem, and without a doubt, I will be returning again in the future.

AAnonymous UserThis is our family trip to Malaysia, and we have two elders and a baby with us. Considering the check-in time was 3 AM, we booked two days so we could enter early in the morning and rest. Honestly, when you’re traveling with family, you just do whatever is most convenient as long as it’s affordable. The apartment has a great location—literally 15–18 minutes from the airport. All the food spots and supermarkets are within walking distance. It’s just an all-around great package for a first-time visitor to the city. It was easy to sign in at security and get access to the apartment. The elevator is a bit slow because there are many residents in the building, but it’s acceptable. Once we entered the room, the AC was already on—what a breeze to welcome us on arrival. The room was clean, everything tidy. There were even clear instructions in the shower on how to use the water heater, which made things a lot easier. My in-laws took a nice hot shower after a 3-hour flight delay, and it was such a relief. Later in the day—maybe because of the red-eye flight and the massive delay—the fatigue kicked in. Plus, we’re not used to the humid and hot Malaysian weather. My father-in-law started having a fever. I had Tylenol and other medicines ready in the bag, but we clearly needed a plan B. I reached out to the owner immediately. My father-in-law was feeling cold even after the fever subsided. The owner contacted his friend in the same building right away and got us an extra blanket. Plan B was to cancel our driving trip to Mount Kinabalu the next day. Since my father-in-law was sick, having him in the car for a 2–3 hour drive wouldn’t help his rest. And if things got worse while we were up in the mountains, he wouldn’t get the medical attention he needed in the middle of nowhere. It was better to cancel and stay in the city. So naturally, if we could extend the room and let him rest another day, he might recover enough for us to continue the rest of the trip. Unfortunately, the room was already booked for the next day. The owner told us we could book another room and he’d try to let us check in earlier to make the transition easier. After we booked the new room, I believe he made some arrangements behind the scenes. He later texted us saying we could stay in the same room tomorrow—no room change needed. I’m really thankful to such an understanding owner, someone who genuinely cares and makes the effort to help a random visitor like me. I told him I’d write down this positive experience to share with others. Hopefully, it brings him more business.

NNevennaThe place is wonderful, my view in the morning from a lovely balcony is impossible to capture in a photo, the smell of a sea breeze and the sounds of birds everywhere. The rooms are very clean and beautiful, they capture the esthetics of the Kota Kinabalu. It is a minute away from the beautiful and vast beach, it is absolutely an underrated place. The staff is great, they have let me check in early, and also, there’s a luggage storage, so I was able to just bring a backpack to my outing trip for couple of days. Also, it is near the airport, which is a plus if you plan on traveling further in Sabah by local flights. Thank you very much for being a good host, O will choose this place again for sure! ☀️

MM378301****The closest hotel to the pier, hands down. I don't know how the ratings are calculated... I'm not judging it by domestic standards; when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Local facilities just aren't that great. Based on what I saw online, I thought it would be terrible, but the room was surprisingly clean. Although there's nowhere to hang clothes to dry, I'd advise anyone who loves going out to sea and exploring the pier to stay close by. The front desk staff were also great; they have a WeChat for communication and translation. Don't bother looking at the negative reviews or the ratings. I stayed in town for 6 days, and the first place, which had the highest rating, was personally the worst.
