I request room near lift and near receptionist no corner room unfortunately I get room far from lift and receptionist and get corner room. Air bertakung di dalam bilik, jadi kurang selesa 😢

The booking from apps and self check in at the premises is very convenient and easy. The facilities and equipment in the room and premise is quite old. However, we still managed to get a comfortable room and functional equipment and also a good beach view. But the view and scenery of the beach is very breathtaking. The children are really enjoying the beach and pool. We definitely would like to come again and try the pool villa unit next time. @borneobeachvillasuite #BBVS2026

Honestly, I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews online for this hotel. I'll just share my own experience. First, I didn't feel discriminated against at all. My English is terrible, and I had to rely on gestures and a translation app to communicate with the front desk, but the staff member was incredibly patient. Second, I didn't see any evidence of Chinese tourists being deliberately upgraded to rooms in a renovating building. My ocean view room had no obstructions whatsoever, so maybe I was just lucky, but I definitely didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned online. As for the hotel itself, the environment is absolutely top-notch. Any spot is perfect for taking stunning sunset photos. The entire hotel feels like a mini-resort, ideal for relaxing and not wanting to venture out too much. The room's hardware is a bit dated, and overall, the value for money is just average, primarily because you're paying for the incredible views.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, expect the toilet is sharing and it's very dirty!. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything I needed. The location was perfect, and the view from my room was absolutely stunning — one of the highlights of my stay. Everything about this hotel felt high-quality, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

I chose this hotel for a one-night stay before heading to the overwater bungalow the next day. Although the room facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. There's a convenience store right downstairs, and it's very close to the pier. The sea breeze was a bit loud at night, but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The place is beautiful. The ocean and the beach are amazing. The hotel is seafront, a few steps and you’re swimming in the ocean. The rooms needs a lot of maintenance and deep cleaning, our room had many things need to be repair so, they gave us upgrade to a huge wood villa with 2 floors. The restaurant is ok… but no delicious. Breakfast is not so good but they prepare eggs as you like. The hotel needs dee cleaning and a lot of maintenance. They have places looks like abandoned.

The room has a very vintage feel, and given the price we paid, we didn’t set high expectations. However, we were truly surprised by the location — the balcony faces directly towards Mount Kinabalu, offering a breathtaking view! The room itself is quite basic, with only essential amenities like towels, a hot water heater, hangers, a kettle, and a hairdryer. But what truly made our stay memorable was the owners, a lovely couple who treated us like family. Their warmth and hospitality were beyond expectations, and they were always ready to help with any inquiries about Kundasang. They also mentioned that the place will be undergoing renovations soon after nearly 30 years. I am really looking forward to returning. Because honestly, their hospitality won my heart! ❤️

This is a standard hotel with a doorman who helps open doors and carry luggage. The front desk staff are very welcoming. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM; early check-in incurs a half-day room charge. Across the street is a shopping mall with a McDonald's on the first floor, open until 2:00 AM, making dining very convenient. The mall also has many shopping and dining options. There's also an affordable large supermarket nearby. The beach is just a 2-minute walk away, which is incredibly convenient.

This is my second stay at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, with the last one being 13 years ago. Although the hotel is older, the facilities are generally well-maintained. There are some minor damages in certain nooks and crannies, and while the bedding felt clean, I personally thought it was a bit old-fashioned. As a five-star hotel, I believe the linens should be updated more regularly. The service was excellent – warm and attentive. Some staff members could communicate in Chinese. Furthermore, knowing we had a child, they even converted the sofa into an extra bed in advance. The location is quite remote, so dining options are limited to the hotel itself. You can also use Grab, but the choices there are somewhat limited. The hotel's various restaurants offer different cuisines, catering to individual preferences, though the prices are a bit on the high side. The hotel has many activities available, which are great and fun for kids. If you have the budget for a family trip, I'd highly recommend it.

Just like the pictures, it was fantastic! The customer service was excellent, and the check-in explanation was very detailed. We were also able to store our luggage for free. We arrived early, and although check-in is normally at 3 PM, we were lucky enough to be able to check in by 12 PM. This is absolutely not a fake review! The only downside is that because it's close to a wet market, if you open the balcony door, there's a strong smell of stale seafood. Check-out was convenient, and no deposit was required. For four of us, the value for money at this price was unbeatable. Plus, there's a washing machine and a pool!
