Xianshu Pavilion Review

先薯亭位于福州市乌山风景区内，是纪念明朝万历年间引种和推广番薯的华侨陈振龙和福建巡抚金学曾而建的。明朝陈振龙到菲律宾经商。见当地种有朱薯，耐旱易活，生熟都可食，便不顾政府不许朱薯出口的禁令，将薯藤绞入吸水绳中，偷渡带回福州培植。明万历二十一年，闽中大旱，五谷歉收，陈振龙向巡抚金学曾呈报，种植朱薯充饥，金学曾遂通令各地栽种，大获丰收，闽中饥荒得以缓解。朱薯因来自"番国"，俗称番薯。郭沫若曾颂扬陈振龙"此功勋当得比神农"。
