I had an excellent stay at Ming Garden Hotel & Residences for my recent business trip. The hotel hits the mark on all fronts—the location is strategic for getting around, and the service was incredibly efficient and welcoming. My room was spotless and very comfortable for working. Highly recommended for business travellers looking for a hassle-free experience.

Overall, it was a great stay. The room was new, had a bathtub, comfortable bedding, and a pleasant environment. The staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast tasted good, but the variety was a bit limited; by the fourth day, I was running out of things to try. The beef noodle soup at the noodle station was delicious, but the portion was too small. Also, check-in and check-out were quite slow, a bit less efficient compared to what I'm used to domestically. I would still choose to stay here again.

The hotel room felt a bit old and small, and the bed was narrow. However, the shower pressure was great, and there was unlimited complimentary drinking water. The staff were very enthusiastic, and the public facilities were decent. Breakfast was average, with a Korean focus. The sunset bar had a lovely ambiance, and the hotel's small private beach was excellent for spotting fish. The location between the Magellan and Pacific hotels is very convenient for island hopping, as it's right next to the ferry terminal, and it wasn't crowded. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the city center, which is very handy, and taxis are also readily available.

I love Le Méridien beds, and this stay reminded me why. The bed was spacious, the pillows were generously sized, and the sleep was genuinely delicious. From my experience, Le Méridien consistently delivers some of the best bedding, no matter which city I stay in. I usually book via the Marriott Bonvoy app, but this time I found a better rate on Trip.com. The location is excellent. It sits right in front of the Filipino Market and is just a short walk to seafood alfresco dining and durian stalls. At night, the surrounding roads come alive with makeshift food stalls and small vendors selling all kinds of local items, giving the area a very local, energetic feel. A comfortable stay with great sleep and a lively neighbourhood. The reception at checkin was also efficient and welcoming. Will stay here again.

The overall experience was okay. The soundproofing is extremely poor. You can hear every single sound from upstairs, downstairs, the hallway, and outside the window clearly and constantly inside the room. Service: On the first day, we arrived punctually at 3 PM to check in, only to be told that our room wasn't ready. We had to wait for nearly 20-30 minutes without any compensation or explanation. They also refused our request for a late check-out, which made the entire trip start off on a very unpleasant note.

Very much satisfied with almost everything, especially the size of the room and proce. It's hard to get rooms this big with this rate nowadays. Comfortable. Good service. I do agree with other guests mentioning about water stains on the bathroom glass wall but it doesn't bother me that much. the hotel is a bit old I guess. the corner of the room has chipped wood. there's no tissue provided in the room, there's only rolled tissue in the bathroom. but overall im satisfied.

We booked a Kinabalu Wing sea view room. The room facilities were a bit old, but acceptable. The hotel offers free activities and has its own jetty for island hopping, which, though double the price, is convenient. However, the hotel's service was terrible. We waited in line for half an hour to check in. When it was finally our turn, the front desk staff cut me off twice before I could finish speaking, and their attitude was arrogant. It was infuriating! I was already fuming before even getting to the room. Breakfast also required queuing because there were simply too many people. This really highlights a problem: the hotel's facilities can't keep up. If they have enough rooms to accommodate so many guests, why don't they staff the front desk and provide enough breakfast tables and chairs to match? We didn't even get welcome fruit after checking in. Not that we needed it, but the worst part was that someone came to deliver it only after we had already settled into our room and been asleep for half an hour. The most outrageous thing was that while we were sleeping, I (who wasn't fully asleep yet) heard the doorbell ring twice. By the time I reacted, the service person had already opened the door themselves. If I had been fully asleep and hadn't called out to them, would they have just walked right in? Secondly, the cleanliness wasn't great. There were even stains on the water bottle. Finally, the breakfast wasn't good, and there wasn't anything particularly appealing. Overall, the view is genuinely beautiful, but if you come with expectations matching the price, you'll likely be disappointed.

I was really worried after seeing the 3.9 rating and reviews before booking, but after arriving: what an amazing hotel! This view, in China, would easily cost ten times more at the beach, wouldn't it? A Grab taxi from the city center cost me 40 MYR cash. The hotel front desk doesn't have Chinese-speaking staff, but checking in was no problem. They gave us a newly renovated room on the first floor, and even from there, you could see the sea. We had booked a sea view room on the 5th floor. We tried out golf, which was only 200 MYR and included club rental. Dinner at the VIP building's Chinese restaurant cost around 600-700 MYR for 10 people, which I thought was pretty reasonable, and the food wasn't as bad as some reviews claimed. The view here is simply unbeatable. The only regret was not being able to surf because the waves were too big. We did try the SPA, but only the one-hour option was available for 128 MYR. You need to book in advance, and there's no Chinese service.

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

GGuest UserFacilities: The rooms are spacious and the hotel is large. Overall, it's suitable for younger children to play. Hygiene: Standard, good. Environment: It's far from the airport and traffic can be bad. Make sure to allow plenty of time if you have a flight to catch. We left at 6:15 AM and arrived at 7:55 AM; our driver was really speeding to get us to the airport on time. Service: I have to complain. 1. Even though we used WeChat to scan the QR code and there were many Chinese guests, the dining and activity information was still in English, and the font was very small, making it inconvenient to read on a phone. 2. When checking in, I told the front desk to pack breakfast on time for our last day, and they agreed and noted it, but they still forgot. All they said was 'sorry' and nothing else... These two points make it far from a five-star experience. The hotel breakfast wasn't very good. There are a few good seafood restaurants around the hotel that are fresh, affordable, and have a Chinese cooking style. I stayed at the Shangri-La on Tanjung Aru Road about ten years ago, and that location is better, though this one is larger.

MMuhammad Damian SanI had an absolutely unforgettable experience at Sutera @ Mantanani Island. From the moment I arrived, I was completely mesmerized by the island’s beauty the crystal clear turquoise waters, soft pearly sand, and breathtaking views felt like something out of a dream. Every moment spent there was pure bliss. What truly made the experience even more special was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their genuine smiles and welcoming hospitality made me feel right at home and added so much heart to the trip. Whether relaxing by the beach or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, everything about Mantanani felt magical. Overall, it was a perfect escape, and I truly enjoyed every second of my stay. Sutera @ Mantanani Island is a hidden gem, and without a doubt, I will be returning again in the future.

AAlisayaaI stayed at ***a Island Hotel 12 years ago, and I came back with my daughter full of anticipation, only to be utterly disappointed. There were two reasons: 1. The front desk girl in picture one was rude, arrogant, and shirked her responsibilities. After the normal check-in process on the island at 2:10 PM, we waited until 2:45 PM without being assigned a room (normal check-in time is 3:00 PM). Considering my daughter was feeling unwell with a cold, I spoke to the front desk girl about going to the restaurant to eat and rest first (the front desk staff was aware of the situation as they led us to the restaurant). When we returned to the front desk at 3:30 PM to check in, we were told there were no rooms available because we weren't waiting at the front desk. What kind of logic is that?! The truth was the rooms hadn't been cleaned, but the front desk just rudely insisted it was because we weren't waiting. Throughout, I communicated gently in English, yet I still felt the arrogance in her words and attitude. This should not happen at a hotel of this caliber. I saw other Chinese guests also having trouble getting rooms. I didn't want to argue and ruin my mood, so I immediately contacted Ctrip's dedicated customer service. Junjun was very professional and patient in resolving the issue. Finally, the hotel manager intervened and apologized, and we checked in at 4:45 PM. Once the manager arrived, the problematic front desk staff suddenly became timid; her demeanor was truly disgusting. 2. The room's cleanliness was poor. There were various hairs in the bathroom, and the bathtub still had uncleaned stains. The hotel's large bathtubs are a feature, but regular disposable tub liners don't fit; you need extra-large ones. The hotel's compensation included a room upgrade and a complimentary dinner. The hotel environment, and thanks to Ctrip for helping us get checked in smoothly. The hotel's natural environment is still excellent, quiet and comfortable – that's why I've missed this hotel for so many years. The main guests are still Caucasians and Koreans, with a smaller proportion of Chinese. The restaurant is quite good, especially the chef's skill.
