The location is good. But is still a distance to Imago mall. The hotel do provide one-way transport service to Imago mall or Suria mall. The room size is big and do have table and chair suitable for business traveller. The receptionist service is good and friendly. They willing to change a damage hair-dryer for us although it is taking a long time to get a good one. The facility a bit old but overall still ok.

🇲🇾 My dream room at Sheraton Kota Kinabalu! 🌟 The hotel's design is super stylish and sophisticated; every corner is Instagram-worthy, making the overall experience absolutely perfect! 💯 The front desk staff were very thoughtful and arranged connecting twin rooms for us during check-in. The rooms were spacious, the bedding comfortable, and the soundproofing excellent – just clean and cozy. The bathroom even had a large bathtub, which both adults and kids enjoyed for a good soak, and the water temperature adjusted quickly and well. There's an infinity pool on the hotel's top floor with stunning sea views, perfect for watching the sunset and an amazing photo spot. Next to it, there's a bar. After the kids were asleep, my husband and I could enjoy a drink while admiring the night view – very romantic. The hotel's breakfast buffet was also great, offering authentic Malaysian Nasi Lemak, noodle soup, Western bacon and eggs, and various fruits. The kids loved the croissants, and the staff even proactively helped us warm them up. The overall service quality was truly a pleasant surprise! The hotel's location is very central. It only takes about a 5-minute taxi ride to get to the jetty, Gaya Street, or major shopping malls, making transportation very convenient. There are a few 24-hour convenience stores right opposite the hotel, where we bought some local specialties to bring back for friends and family. Sheraton Kota Kinabalu absolutely exceeded my expectations. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit!

The biggest issue is that for a beachfront resort, its beach is practically nonexistent – though it doesn't really hinder the fun! I booked a sea-view room for three nights, expecting to step right out to the ocean. However, Magellan (hotel) seems to have a dock, so the 'beach' is all rocks. There's only about a 10-meter wide 'sandy' area, suitable for snorkeling. The underwater rocky reefs here make for pretty good snorkeling. The adjacent Pacific Sutera beach, which shares facilities, is a bit longer, but the waves are bigger there, so the snorkeling isn't as good as here. Both hotels share four pools, which is great for swimming, but it feels a bit odd to go to a beach resort and only swim in the pool. I didn't find any other major deal-breakers; overall, the experience was good. The service wasn't bad, and while the facilities aren't new, they're not run-down either. Breakfast was decent, with all the usual offerings. There are indeed a lot of Koreans here, even more than I encountered in Jeju Island previously. I guess this hotel is a social media hotspot in Korea!

Although theree was an error on the booking system at my side...but they solve the problem easily by giving me a room with seaview..(seems to be an upgrade to me) the room is clean and the cleaner did their job really well too by adding more towel rather than change my towel...for the breakfast it's good, though the only problem is their drinks is bland...thats all

I came here from the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang in Penang, which is a hotel from the 1970s, and it was surprisingly good overall. I actually expected this newer hotel to be much better, but I was genuinely shocked upon check-in. The room facilities were the worst I've stayed in during the past ten years, comparable to a county guesthouse from over two decades ago. I'm speechless. Even if they don't want to spend money on renovations, they could at least replace the electrical outlets and add USB ports. The balcony door lock was broken, the curtains were stained, and the hairdryer was like something from my student days. When people talked on the balcony next door, it sounded like they were right by your head. The shower door in the bathroom didn't close properly, and the toiletries were the lowest tier Shangri-La offers. During Chinese New Year, we paid 5,000 a night for a Kinabalu Wing sea view room (it's usually around 1,800 a night, and I booked it over two months in advance, so I don't know if the agent was ripping us off or if the hotel was just making a fortune). They really treat Chinese tourists as suckers. The service overall was good. A few individuals at the front desk did have a somewhat arrogant attitude, but perhaps that's just their personality or due to the sheer number of guests during the New Year period. Overall, it was decent. The hotel breakfast was quite extensive and tastier than at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Penang and Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. The natural scenery is generally better than Sanya, with many water activities available at reasonable prices. Seafood restaurants in the city are also cheap, just a fifteen-minute taxi ride away. If you're looking for value for money, coming during the off-season might be an option, but this hotel is far from comparable to hotels of the same price in Sanya. If you're looking to just relax at the hotel, I'd advise caution in choosing this place. What I find most baffling is that Ctrip labels this as the number one luxury hotel in Kota Kinabalu. I have no idea how they define luxury, but I was definitely misled.

I was really worried after seeing the 3.9 rating and reviews before booking, but after arriving: what an amazing hotel! This view, in China, would easily cost ten times more at the beach, wouldn't it? A Grab taxi from the city center cost me 40 MYR cash. The hotel front desk doesn't have Chinese-speaking staff, but checking in was no problem. They gave us a newly renovated room on the first floor, and even from there, you could see the sea. We had booked a sea view room on the 5th floor. We tried out golf, which was only 200 MYR and included club rental. Dinner at the VIP building's Chinese restaurant cost around 600-700 MYR for 10 people, which I thought was pretty reasonable, and the food wasn't as bad as some reviews claimed. The view here is simply unbeatable. The only regret was not being able to surf because the waves were too big. We did try the SPA, but only the one-hour option was available for 128 MYR. You need to book in advance, and there's no Chinese service.

The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was satisfactory. The location is strategic, close to Sandakan airport, with a laundry, market, and restaurants conveniently located around the hotel. There were only three minor drawbacks: Firstly, if you book a room with a bathtub, showering is difficult. (See the second picture.) You have to step into the tub to turn on the water, and the cold tap only dispensed hot water, so you had no choice but to endure hot showers. Secondly, only one room key card was issued. If you're not staying solo and someone leaves the room, they'll have to knock to get back in. Lastly, the TV was non-functional as it had no channels and couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi. The TV itself looked like an outdated model.

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

AAnonymous UserThis hotel was perfect for a completely relaxed trip. I was very satisfied with the room; the balcony was great and offered a good level of privacy. However, my initial idea of stepping right onto the beach didn't pan out. You can see the beach from afar, but that's as close as you get! You actually have to walk through a large area of greenery, so it’s quite a distance from the sand. The only upside is that on a day like this, you can sit outside all day without getting any sun, which was very comfortable. It’s absolutely ideal for just lying back and looking at your phone. Truly a perfect spot for men who just want to chill out. The Ocean Wing family room would be better for families with two children. For us, with just one child, it felt a bit wasteful as the top bunk was empty, haha. The Garden Wing pool is livelier and also a good spot for watching the sunset. If you like a more vibrant atmosphere, stay there. If you prefer quiet, choose the other side. Our family room, 1802, was actually about the same distance from the Garden Wing lobby as it was from the Ocean Wing front desk. Walking through the connecting corridor was fine, and it wasn't hot. At night, the path with the lawn lights was also very close. The so-called Ocean Wing is actually quite quiet, and the rooms have a large outdoor resting area. As for value for money, that’s up to you to decide. The ground floor of the Garden Wing only has two small outdoor stools and gets more sun. The room itself was quite cool, with strong air conditioning. I recommend wearing long sleeves when going to the restaurant for meals – definitely long sleeves! For dining, I’d suggest the Garden Wing buffet restaurant; they have more variety. Regarding booking activities, I recommend emailing the hotel in advance to confirm your booking number and the activities you want to do. Otherwise, don't expect to be able to book activities like the night animal viewing on the spot. There are only slots for 10 people per day, and usually, three families are enough to fill them. So, I couldn't book anything during my two-day stay, which was very disappointing. One friendly aspect might be for children who need childcare. Upon check-in, they give you a daily activity list in both English and Chinese, and children can be supervised. Daily drinks and food are replenished. You can actually order Grab food delivery, but there's an extra 10 RM delivery fee. It’s really far, over ten kilometers! So remote... There’s a restaurant nearby called Dongfang Tea Restaurant; you can search for it on Dazhong Dianping. Add the owner's phone number on WeChat, and he'll come pick you up! It can save you a lot; it's about 90 RMB per person. The hotel's buffet dinner isn't great, not as good as the breakfast buffet. That's what people who tried it said; I didn't, haha. Breakfast lasts from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, and I usually went around 9:30 or 10:00 AM and stayed until after 10:30 AM. The shuttle bus schedule is also very useful in my pictures. For check-out, I left around 12:30 PM, and the front desk told me to be in the lobby 15 minutes early for the bus. The drop-off time is excellent, taking you to Imago Shopping Mall. However, they can't drop you off at the airport directly; there are only two airport shuttles, one in the morning and one in the evening. Finally, here's a tip: there's a QR code in the lobby to register as a Shangri-La member. Just scan it and register your membership number to receive a complimentary four-piece travel size shower gel set. There's also Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk (see picture). You can ask for her if needed. Summary: For older children, swimming before sunset is perfect, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, watching the sunset all the way – it’s stunning. Cons: Far from the city, and activities are difficult to book. Food: They have all the usual stuff, so it's just okay. Overall, it's a hotel very suitable for a completely relaxed and laid-back stay.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

AAlisayaaI stayed at ***a Island Hotel 12 years ago, and I came back with my daughter full of anticipation, only to be utterly disappointed. There were two reasons: 1. The front desk girl in picture one was rude, arrogant, and shirked her responsibilities. After the normal check-in process on the island at 2:10 PM, we waited until 2:45 PM without being assigned a room (normal check-in time is 3:00 PM). Considering my daughter was feeling unwell with a cold, I spoke to the front desk girl about going to the restaurant to eat and rest first (the front desk staff was aware of the situation as they led us to the restaurant). When we returned to the front desk at 3:30 PM to check in, we were told there were no rooms available because we weren't waiting at the front desk. What kind of logic is that?! The truth was the rooms hadn't been cleaned, but the front desk just rudely insisted it was because we weren't waiting. Throughout, I communicated gently in English, yet I still felt the arrogance in her words and attitude. This should not happen at a hotel of this caliber. I saw other Chinese guests also having trouble getting rooms. I didn't want to argue and ruin my mood, so I immediately contacted Ctrip's dedicated customer service. Junjun was very professional and patient in resolving the issue. Finally, the hotel manager intervened and apologized, and we checked in at 4:45 PM. Once the manager arrived, the problematic front desk staff suddenly became timid; her demeanor was truly disgusting. 2. The room's cleanliness was poor. There were various hairs in the bathroom, and the bathtub still had uncleaned stains. The hotel's large bathtubs are a feature, but regular disposable tub liners don't fit; you need extra-large ones. The hotel's compensation included a room upgrade and a complimentary dinner. The hotel environment, and thanks to Ctrip for helping us get checked in smoothly. The hotel's natural environment is still excellent, quiet and comfortable – that's why I've missed this hotel for so many years. The main guests are still Caucasians and Koreans, with a smaller proportion of Chinese. The restaurant is quite good, especially the chef's skill.
