Located about 50 kilometers east of downtown Harbin, southwest of the ancient town of Binzhou in Bin County, lies a body of water surrounded by mountains. Named after the mountains that define it, the area is locally known as Erlongshan (Two Dragon Mountain). This 25-square-kilometer scenic area has long been known as the "East Garden of Harbin." The terrain here is unique, with a lake of clear blue water surrounded by mountains on three sides. In the middle of the water sits a small, lush green island. Viewed from above, the two mountain ranges, Dalongshan (Big Dragon Mountain) and Xiaolongshan (Small Dragon Mountain), resemble giant dragons winding toward the Pearl Island in the lake, earning the area the name "Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl." Strolling along the lake, you can enjoy the "Ten Beautiful Sights," including "Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl" and "Long Dragon Lying on the Waves." The scenic area also features Wanfo Temple. By the lake, you can see a rock face inscribed with "Longquan Mountain," with clear spring water flowing at its foot year-round. The four seasons at Erlongshan are a shifting scroll of beauty. In spring, the mountains and forests awaken; in summer, the blue waves offer a cool escape; in late autumn, the lake acts as a mirror reflecting the colorful mountain scenery; and in winter, it is blanketed in silver, becoming a natural ice and snow paradise. If you climb to Baishifeng, the highest point in the scenic area, the entire outline of Erlongshan unfolds beneath your feet—the winding ridges, the emerald lake, and the pavilions and towers dotted throughout, all coming together to form a layered landscape painting.

M34***04After visiting the Tiger Park, we took a taxi to Sun Island and then prepared to take the cable car back to our hotel across the river. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many tourists, and we got on without queuing. When the cable car reached its highest point, the panoramic view of Sun Island, the Songhua River, and the city was breathtaking. We even saw a flock of seagulls! A trip to Harbin definitely includes taking the cross-river cable car at least once.
