A national 3A-rated scenic area with a 20km Songhua River coastline. The main highlights are the Zhanjiang Temple, built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, and the Wukeshu Wharf, where you can enjoy the river breeze and watch fishing boats. The sunset by the river in the evening and freshly stewed river fish are a perfect match, and the morning mist is also extremely photogenic.

2️⃣ Huayuanshan Tourist Area ⛰️ | A natural oxygen bar at the peak of Yushu
A spur of the Dahei Mountain range, a branch of the Changbai Mountains, with the main peak at 302 meters, making it the highest point in Yushu. It has high forest coverage, and there is a 35-meter observation tower at the summit, offering views of the vast plains and the reservoir at the foot of the mountain. Wildflowers cover the mountains in spring and summer, and the forest is ablaze with color in autumn.

🍜 Food recommendations (follow this and you won't go wrong)
· Wukeshu dried tofu 🥢: Thin, resilient, and translucent with a rich bean flavor. Rolling it with scallions and dipping sauce or stir-frying it with hot peppers is amazing. It's an intangible cultural heritage skill.
· Iron pot stewed river fish 🐟: Fresh fish from the Songhua River, served in generous portions. Simmered in a large iron pot, the corn cakes dipped in the soup are the soul of the dish.
· Gongpengzi cold noodles 🍜: A taste that locals grow up eating. Sweet and sour cold broth, CNY 6 per bowl, a summer lifesaver.
· Sticky bean buns & Yushu sesame flatbread 🫘: Soft, sticky, and sweet bean buns paired with crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside flatbread and savory tofu pudding make for a golden breakfast combination.
· Yushuqian liquor 🍶: A time-honored brand dating back to 1812; you can buy a bottle as a souvenir.

📝 Practical tips
· 🚗 Transportation is key: There is no high-speed rail in Yushu. From Changchun, it takes about 2 hours by standard train and about 3 hours by T388 intercity bus. The attractions are very scattered; Wukeshu, Huayuanshan, and the city center are far apart. It is highly recommended to drive or charter a car, otherwise, you will spend all your time on the road.
· 🪪 Bring your ID: You must bring your ID card to the museum, or you won't be able to enter.
· 👟 Gear advice: Huayuanshan requires hiking, so wear sneakers. There are many mosquitoes in August, so bring mosquito repellent and long pants. It's windy by the river in the evening, so bring a light jacket.
· ⏰ Watch the time: The last T388 intercity bus is around 5:30 PM. If you are taking the bus back, don't stay out too late.
· 🌾 Best season: Autumn is the peak of Yushu's beauty, with golden rice fields, magnificent river views, and the most comfortable weather.
The beauty of Yushu lies not in the refinement of internet-famous spots, but in the grounded nature of the black soil, the openness of the Songhua River, and the authenticity of its streets and alleys. Get it on your schedule before it becomes popular! ✨
