My favorite island hotel of the year: Hotel Indigo Hainan Clear Water Bay—you'll fall in love the moment you check in

Having visited many resort hotels in Hainan, my favorite one this year is Hotel Indigo Hainan Clear Water Bay🔥 A trendy brand under IHG, it's designed as an "ocean jewelry shop" inspired by Tanka marine culture. It's right next to the famous "singing beach." Perfect for couples and families. No need to squeeze into Sanya—relaxing here is just so comfortable! Unlike many cookie-cutter island hotels, this one integrates local culture into every detail. From the pearl arches in the lobby and fishing net-textured corridors to the blue-and-white ocean theme paired with Li ethnic rattan weaving, every photo you take looks like a high-end editorial shot. Walking through the hotel feels like visiting an ocean art exhibition. 🌊 Hotel highlights ✅ Spacious ocean-view rooms starting from 56 sqm The rooms are spacious, and room types on the 6th floor and above feature unobstructed ocean-view balconies, where you can watch the tangerine-colored sunset right from your bed. Equipped with Dyson hair dryers and Marshall speakers, some room types even feature circular viewing bathtubs. The first round of the minibar is free—the attention to detail is top-notch. ✅ Massive pool complex for endless water fun Shared 2,000 sqm pool area with Kimpton, featuring an infinity pool, popular floating net beds, a circular lazy river, and a children's pool. Surrounded by coconut groves, soaking in the pool while gazing at the sea creates the ultimate vacation vibe. ✅ Rich amenities for an all-in-one stay, dining, and play experience The ocean-view restaurant offers a rich breakfast selection, including Hainan specialties like Zaopo vinegar soup and Lingshui sour rice noodles. There's a 1,000 sqm indoor kids' club, plus Tanka culture tours and sea-foraging experiences, making it family-friendly. You can walk to the "singing beach" at Clear Water Bay, where the sand is so fine that it makes a crisp sound when you step on it. 📌 Essential stay tips 📍 Location: Clear Water Bay, Lingshui, Hainan 🚗 Transportation: About a 1-hour drive from Sanya Airport, suitable for self-driving ✨ Best experience: Take photos at the pool in the afternoon, watch the ocean sunset from your balcony in the evening 💡 Tips: The hotel has a limited number of rooms, so be sure to book in advance during peak season. Most packages include breakfast for two and a minibar; buying vouchers is more cost-effective. No need to rush to crowded Sanya. At Hotel Indigo Hainan Clear Water Bay, you can fully immerse yourself in island romance🌊 💬 Question: Would you choose to bring your partner or your kids to this hidden gem of a seaside hotel for a vacation? Lingshui!! The most stunning place I've ever stayed!!! I didn't want to leave… — traveler post in Lingshui

Lingshui!! The most stunning place I've ever stayed!!! I didn't want to leave…

🌊 If you're coming to Hainan and want to avoid the crowds in Sanya, Lingshui is full of hidden surprises. I stayed at the Greentown Blue Bay Resort Hainan this time, and the moment I stepped into the grounds, I was captivated by the scenery. The resort's viral lazy river is just the perfect vibe for a vacation. The river winds along natural reefs, flanked by towering coconut trees and layers of lush tropical greenery. The crystal-clear blue water flows along the riverbed, with glimpses of the blue ocean in the distance. Drifting slowly on a paddleboard with the family, accompanied by the coconut breeze, felt like wandering into a tropical secret paradise. It was so relaxing, I didn't want to leave. 📸 Photo Tips | Must-Knows for Great Shots ✔️ Core angle: Frame your shot vertically along the river, capturing the reefs, coconut groves, and turquoise water in one frame. Place the paddleboard at the bottom of the shot with the sea visible in the distance for that viral, atmospheric composition. ✔️ Golden hour: 9:00–11:00 AM is best! The sunlight filters through the coconut leaves, casting dappled shadows on the water, and the light is soft without being harsh. It's easy to get backlit in the afternoon, and there are more tourists doing water activities. ✔️ Outfit ideas: Fresh, vacation-style looks. Bright swimsuits or light-colored shirts photograph well. Pair them with a straw hat and sunglasses for a perfect match with the tropical coconut groves. ✔️ A quick reminder: Paddleboarding is a popular activity at the hotel, so I recommend visiting during off-peak hours. Follow the staff's instructions, and be sure to use safety gear for children. The water reflects sunlight, so remember to bring sun protection. 🏨 Honest Review of My Stay The hotel is located in Clearwater Bay, Lingshui. Compared to the popular bays in Sanya, it's much less crowded, quiet, and comfortable—perfect for a family vacation. The entire resort is huge, with dense tropical vegetation and coconut groves everywhere; there's a view at every turn. In addition to the super popular winding lazy river, there are multiple swimming pools and an exclusive private beach. The sand at Clearwater Bay is exceptional—the "singing beach" really lives up to its name. You can even go clamming after the tide goes out. There's a wide selection of room types, and many rooms offer garden or ocean views right from the window. The family rooms are well-equipped, making it stress-free to stay with kids. There are on-site restaurants and convenience stores, so all your vacation needs are basically covered. It's not far from Xincun Fishing Port and Nanwan Monkey Island, so if you don't want to just lounge at the hotel, you can plan a short trip. It's perfect for families who don't want to rush and prefer a relaxed pace. You won't feel bored even if you spend the whole day at the hotel. 📍 Address: Greentown Blue Bay Resort Hainan (Clearwater Bay, Lingshui) 🚗 Transportation: Driving is recommended; it's about a 1-hour drive from downtown Sanya. You can also take the high-speed train to Lingshui Station and then take a taxi. 💡 Tips: The lazy river has specific operating hours, so check with the front desk after you check in. There's a lot of vegetation by the beach and in the resort, so bring mosquito repellent and high-SPF sunscreen. ✨ A Few Final Thoughts I've seen many vacation hotels in Hainan, but this one still amazed me. You don't have to travel far; just drift slowly along the river surrounded by coconut trees and listen to the wind blowing through the leaves. Quiet, slow, and enjoying island time—it's no wonder I really didn't want to leave when it was time to go 🌴

A 3-day, 2-night guide to relaxing in Clearwater Bay — traveler post in Lingshui

A 3-day, 2-night guide to relaxing in Clearwater Bay

Autumn arrives late in Hainan, but the breeze in Clearwater Bay already carries the salty scent of the sea and the fragrance of coconut groves🍃. I stayed at Hotel Indigo Hainan Clearwater Bay this time. As the first resort-style hotel for the Indigo brand in Hainan, its design inspiration is drawn from the "Sea Gypsies"—the Tanka people's way of life living by the sea. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping onto an old ship anchored at the shore🚢. Pearlescent light, the shadows of fishing nets, and the scent of the sea breeze are all captured within this hotel🫧. 🏨 With the "Ocean Jewelry Shop" as the narrative theme, pearlescent arches, fishing net weaving textures, and natural materials are cleverly integrated into every detail of the 174 guest rooms. The arches are lined up one after another, like seashells pushed open by the waves; the textures of fishing nets are hidden in lampshades, on screens, and in the patterns of the carpets—subtle, yet they make you want to take a second look👀. Every object in the room feels like it was picked up from the seaside, carrying a gentle touch of saltiness🧂. From my room, I could see a stretch of sea shining brightly under the sun✨. Opening the curtains in the morning, the light poured in, landing on the wooden floors, the linen bedding, and the pearlescent walls, as if someone had gently spread out the entire morning☀️. Lying in bed at night, I could hear the wind passing through the coconut groves, rustling, like the sea speaking from far away🌙. 📍 A slow-paced 3-day, 2-night itinerary: Day 1️⃣: After arriving, I took my time exploring the hotel, from the lobby to the pool, from the hallways to the room—every spot was worth pausing to admire📸. In the evening, I walked along the beach and watched the sunset dye the water a pale gold🌅. Day 2️⃣: I visited the Tanka fishing village and ate freshly caught seafood on the fishing rafts🦐. In the afternoon, I returned to the hotel for a nap, then spent the whole afternoon by the pool, watching the coconut shadows sway gently on the water's surface🏊‍♀️. Day 3️⃣: I had a bowl of Hainan rice noodles near the hotel🍜, then walked along the beach at Clearwater Bay for a long time, watching the waves roll in over and over again🌊. I even bought a string of seashell wind chimes to take home🎐

Escape the city | Stay in an atmospheric island garden in Lingshui

I originally came here for a family trip, but I was completely blown away by the hotel's aesthetics! The entire property is a tropical island garden with vast coconut groves and lawns—every photo looks like a vacation postcard. The architectural design is stunning, and the lobby is airy and sophisticated. At night, the lights turn on, accompanied by musical fountains, creating an absolutely divine atmosphere✨ The infinity pool faces the ocean; soaking in the water while watching the sea and sky merge makes for perfect photos every time. It's just a few minutes' walk to the beach, where you can play in the sand and waves while watching the sunset. The "orange sea" is truly breathtaking🌅 The "Bi-xin Rabbit" duplex family room brings a fairy tale world right into your room. With dreamy starry sky murals, an upstairs loft, a bunk bed with a slide, and a climbing net, the kids went wild as soon as we walked in. Even the bathroom is fully equipped with children's step stools and exclusive amenities—the attention to detail is spot on. Traveling with kids is completely stress-free! With water park slides, an indoor play area, reptile science exhibits, animal interactions, and DIY craft sessions, there's something new to do from morning till night. There are even professional coaches to teach the kids how to swim, so this mom can finally relax and enjoy a coffee☕ The buffet dinner features a huge variety of dishes and pop-up activities. We danced with the Moon Rabbit mascot, and there was a live band performance afterward—my child was so happy dancing along🕺🏻 From Sep 24–Oct 7, we're launching a 14-day "Moonlight Vacation," where hotel guests can enjoy a wide range of special activities for free. Highlights include a Mid-Autumn Festival bonfire and fireworks show, Li ethnic intangible cultural heritage crafts, and mooncake/cookie DIY; for National Day, we have bonfire concerts, red-themed team-building activities, and craft workshops, plus stamp collection rewards and dinner lucky draws. With the hotel's oceanfront views and diverse recreational facilities, whether you're traveling with family or friends, you can enjoy an immersive island reunion holiday here.

Atlantis Sanya

The Atlantis Aquarium in Sanya is absolutely stunning! The enormous Lost Chambers aquarium makes you feel like you're in an underwater world, with over 86,000 marine creatures swimming in 13,500 tons of natural seawater. The beluga whale interaction is incredibly therapeutic, the jellyfish area is dreamy and beautiful, and every shot in the underwater tunnel is a masterpiece. It's definitely worth the ticket price for a family trip; you can learn something new and experience the wonders of the ocean. Highly recommended!

Boundary Island

The sea lion show is great; kids should love it. The submarine full dive barely reveals any coral, but there are divers feeding the fish. Manta ray feeding costs 80 per person, which isn't cheap, but the water is clear and there are many fish, allowing for close encounters. It's a great place for two people to take photos. I recommend it.

The Lost Chambers Aquarium - Atlantis Sanya

The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis Sanya was a fantastic experience! The theme of a lost underwater city created a truly immersive atmosphere. The Ambassador Lagoon's giant screen was breathtaking, with sharks, manta rays, and schools of fish swimming right before your eyes. The mermaid show and feeding show were excellent, especially for the kids. The venue was clean, the indoor area was sun-protected, and there was even a touch pool where you could get up close to starfish. It's perfect for families, and the photos turn out beautifully. I highly recommend checking show times in advance before you go!

A day trip to Monkey Island and Dodo Island. The cable car experience at Monkey Island is excellent, offering panoramic views of the fish farms and lively, entertaining monkeys. Dodo Island boasts stunning beach scenery, is less crowded, and has numerous Instagram-worthy spots, making it perfect for taking photos and relaxing. Remember to wear sunscreen and keep an eye on the shuttle bus return time; definitely worth a visit.

There are rides (Rust Mountain Rafting, South China Sea Train, roller coasters, etc.), animal feeding (tortoises, seals, manatees, rays, penguins, etc., 588 RMB/2 people), and shows (mermaid show, whale show). There are fireworks at 8:30 PM and iron flower displays at 7:30 PM. It's quite expensive, but car rental is convenient (400 RMB/day).

Hainan Ocean Paradise Resort

This is my second time visiting here with my family. It was a lot of fun! The Halloween activities had a really spooky atmosphere, which I loved. The staff members dressed up as NPCs were also very unique. I'll definitely come back next time!

Atlantis Sanya C Show

This C Show has always been very famous, and I've always wanted to see it. Although I saw online that the current C Show is very different from the old one, and the storyline has changed, I figured I might as well watch it since I'm already here. After watching it, I can only say that it's tasteless but not worth throwing away!

Thumbs up to the staff! I forgot my car keys in the car and thought I'd lost them on Monkey Island. I was frantic, but all the staff had already gone home. The park manager and security captain helped me search the park. Although it turned out to be a false alarm, I still want to give the helpful staff a thumbs up! 👍👍👍
