Staying in Mestre is an option if you don’t want to spend too much in Venice hotels. This Staycity is a modern hotel at a reasonable rate. It is close to the bus and train station, within 8 mins walk. The receptionists are friendly and professional. The room is equipped with utensils that you can cook for yourself.

After being recommended to stay at this “hotel” for a course we were doing, it was a nightmare from day one. We were in a 4 bed apartment and hot water wouldn’t work for more than 15 minutes so that meant some of us were having cold showers everyday. Especially when they’d fix it at night but it was freezing again by the morning and we didn’t have time to get them to sort it as this took around an hour of our time. Despite telling them EVERYDAY that our hot water wasn’t working and the boiling was broke, it took them 6 days into our 10 night stay to do something. Everytime we would plead them to fix it or move us apartments, they lied and told us that the hotel was fully booked and would just tell us to turn the boiler on and off. The hob in our apartment barely worked, everything was dirty and smelt like a nursing home, no washing machine, mouldy dirty showers and limescale on the shower head so thick that it wouldn’t even work properly. The microwave sparked at the plug and needed to be changed, the bedsheets smelt dirty and the shutters kept jamming. On day 6 they moved us to a smaller apartment, despite paying for more and didn’t apologise or offer any compensation. When we arrived, the showers still weren’t in the best condition and the kitchen was barely supplied with any utensils to cook and then the balcony door jammed shut. When we called reception, he said they couldn’t do anything for a couple of hours despite us having washing our there and wanting to use the balcony to enjoy the sun. He then barged in 10 minutes later, not saying anything and pulling at the doors then proceeded to climb through the window to get to the balcony. We’ve constantly had to change our plans to wait whilst the staff at the hotel messed with the broken things and not know how to fix it. There was no proper engineering staff and we didn’t see any cleaners working whilst we were here. The one time our apartment was cleaned, they didn’t leave any toilet roll and left one of the rooms completely uncleaned. The staff haven’t apologised once for any of these issues, if anything they make you feel like an annoyance when they should just get their hotel sorted. It’s dirty, it’s old and it’s been a nightmare. It also looks NOTHING like the photos. It’s overpriced and promising an experience that doesn’t exist. Save your money, the hostel would probably be nicer.
Ca' Rielo

We stayed 3 nights in Ca’Rielo and everything was perfect. The apartment was beautiful, nicely decorated, very cosy and clean. The location is great, just few minutes walk from the train and bus stations, lots of restaurants and shops around. Our host, Alessandro was helpful and friendly. We had a fantastic time. Highly recommend this place!

Located near Verona Arena and shopping area, accessibility is very good for sightseeing The front door of the hostel building was so good that it was open to take a hostel card. The hostel was very tidy and spacious, and the kitchen and cookable appliances and tableware were all available, so it was good to buy food at the mart and eat. Because it is an apartment type accommodation, there is no room cleaning service, but I didn't care much because I didn't want security However, there is a trash can right in front of the hostel, so it's annoying to wake up from 7 o'clock because of the sound of glass bottles poured and moved in the big trash can in the morning. It was a 100% satisfactory accommodation, not only a real trash can.

We stayed in these apartments in September and gave us the 9. A apartment that used the top of 7 and 8 and there they put you. A bed under a roof that you had to enter cats. A kitchen that could not cook standing. If you measure 1.60 you are certainly okay, but if you are high@, forget. A room without lift, though ll of the lifts is something normal there. But the full, is that with towels put dressing or coats, I still don't know it was. We asked for change but they said they were complete and said this, they are towels (for them).
Grand Canal Suite by Wonderful Italy

We had a great one night stay for the last night of our Venice trip. Booked last minute as we liked the look of the room and the view over the canal and it lived up to our expectations. Communication was excellent and although there isn’t a reception area with someone checking you in, instructions and communication was good. Check out times as exactly as advertises, no flexibility on the 3pm check in and early check out time of 10am but that is what it says when you book. It woken be great if you could pay extra for a 12pm check out if needed. It was helpful being able to leave luggage in a cupboard in the common area. There’s a fridge in the room and a hairdryer. We couldn’t work the safe plus it wasn’t bolted to the wall. Would be nice to have a kettle to make a tea or coffee in the morning. Those little things would make it even better Apart from the sound of the water taxis, it’s a quiet spot, spacious, clean, and the views through the large windows are incredible. I read some negative reviews due to the fact you have to walk up a few stairs but I cannot see the issue with that. There are a LOT of stairs, steps and bridges in Venice so it’s hardly something to complain about. We will DEFINITELY stay here again and for longer this time. It’s so close to the main station so you don’t have to take your cases far.

Cittadella - Porta Nuova
We needed somewhere to stay in Verona just for one night before catching our flight back home, i honestly feel we hit the jackpot with our apartment. We stayed in Guiliettes House and it was beautiful, spotlessly clean and in the perfect location. The reception was on the same street a few doors down, we were able to leave our luggage here whilst we went exploring. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable and gave us lots of tips to get the most out of stay. I would love to return and hopefully stay a little longer.

The room is very nice, in Venetian style; but unfortunately the reception was the worst ... check-in is usually expected by 14.30, but when we arrived in the morning we agreed with who should be on the advance luggage storage, But they arrived in front of the facility, no one opened us or answered the phone for the next three hours. In a few hours for a piece of cookie we were invaded by the myrs, so we called, but we were told that this myrs were not on the morning, so they didn't care about it and if we wanted a antiform sprays or we were going to buy it or because he was not in the structure (although they were 19.15 and the reception should be open up to 19.30) we had to give him 30 euros for the disorder, And because he said he was enough to kill them. But the furnaces are not the only inconvenience, the showers are without an ante for the closure and so every time the bathroom is expanded, the cabinet table was broken, the already dirty coats previously ... Ps some furnace came to give us the Good night in bed too

I stayed in the family at this facility from 17 to 21 August, and we were really good, especially thanks to Matthew's availability and friendlyness. There is also a free parking possibility and another great comfort is guaranteed by the stop of the direct tram to Venice located just a short distance from the facility.
