Guest UserI originally booked a twin room and was worried about getting one facing the construction site. Upon arrival, the hotel informed me that the twin room was unavailable and upgraded me to a suite, which was very spacious. The swimming pool and splash area for kids were great; we pretty much spent the whole first day at the hotel. Breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular but perfectly fine. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. I just wonder when the construction next door will be finished; it should be even better once it's done. The VR attendant inside was very enthusiastic; my child even went over time, but he still let them have another round.

The water in the hotel's area is heavily polluted; it's so dirty that snorkeling is completely out of the question! The front desk staff were very perfunctory with guest requests and didn't follow through on promises. In the morning, we requested a private boat tour for island hopping and snorkeling. We discussed the time and itinerary with the dive center staff and finalized the price with the front desk. We even altered our subsequent travel plans for this. However, by 4 PM, we still hadn't received confirmation. When we called the front desk, they told us they couldn't arrange it. We asked several people, and got different explanations: first they said there were no boats, then that other guests had already been arranged for island hopping, and then that there would be a storm the next day (which turned out to be perfectly calm). I suggest the hotel improve its island hopping service. For those looking to dive, definitely don't consider this hotel! Also, the beach is incredibly tiny, barely palm-sized!

ShanyouzhenI chose this hotel for a one-night stay before heading to the overwater bungalow the next day. Although the room facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. There's a convenience store right downstairs, and it's very close to the pier. The sea breeze was a bit loud at night, but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The staff friendliness is just amzing 10/10. Excellent Service. Our room had amazing view of the sea and opposite resort called Gayana.
Dinner: Only Buffet option is available and its about RM167/person +taxes. The spread are fairly good and it is delicious.
Though they do have 2 more different Restaurant in the island,Japanese and fine dining.
Breakfast: Included in the room price. Menu changes daily.
I have nothing to complaint about the room, for us its comfortable. All rooms have exactly the dane Designs the only difference is where it is located. You are paying for the view.
Activities: For me I think 3 days 2 nights are perfect to spend your time here, swimming by the pool, kayaking, snorkling,Jungle trekking, visiting the private beach. 1 hour complimentary use of snorklinh masks. I like the public guests showers and towel provided.Very convinient.
One thing that I would like to comment is the boat fees are relatively very expansive.15 mins speedboat per person one way cost about Rm80+taxes..Just return trip cost RM170++ per person. This is not even including island conservation fees and tourist fees. All this added fees makes the Hotel cost more expansive. Because a boat trip to nearby or same Island cost only Rm40. GAYANA ECO RESORT provided inclusive/complimentary return boat fees. I hope the Management can improve this because we as Guests are going to spend more money on F&B and at the Bar.
Last but not least I would like to compliment the service and staffs in thsi Resort I think they did such an amazing job. Overalö the Resort is beautiful andclose to the nature.

The place is beautiful. The ocean and the beach are amazing. The hotel is seafront, a few steps and you’re swimming in the ocean. The rooms needs a lot of maintenance and deep cleaning, our room had many things need to be repair so, they gave us upgrade to a huge wood villa with 2 floors.
The restaurant is ok… but no delicious. Breakfast is not so good but they prepare eggs as you like.
The hotel needs dee cleaning and a lot of maintenance. They have places looks like abandoned.

morrismThis time I brought my family and we encountered heavy rain (luckily, we still enjoyed the most beautiful sunset in the evening). There was a 'fiasco' on the beach (the hotel's quick and professional handling made us feel even more at ease to relax and play), and a 'four-legged intruder' in the pool (the hotel swiftly caught and relocated it). We saw little squirrels, stepped on live clams, admired the full moon on the 16th, and celebrated my father's birthday, which was all arranged by the hotel. RAINA's thoughtful advice about the road construction saved us from missing our flight, and so much more. If you're coming to Kota Kinabalu for a sunset holiday and have the budget, come to Shangri-La Rasa Ria. And if you ever meet RAINA again, just hand all your troubles over to her! ☺

Guest UserWe landed at Kota Kinabalu Airport on August 3rd morning and arrived at the hotel just before 9:30 AM. We were greeted by a front desk attendant near the office door. The standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, and she informed us we were early. When we asked if we could check in early, she actually found a room for us after checking – seriously, kudos to her! We had booked the flights at the last minute and then the hotel, so we thought, especially for peak season and at this price, the room might be subpar. But it was much better than expected.
Pros: Excellent location. The hotel is within walking distance of Kota Kinabalu Central Market, Gaya Street, and Durian Street. If you don't mind the sun, you can even walk to DBKK Jetty (we took a taxi from the hotel lobby to DBKK Jetty for about 8 RMB, which is roughly 1.70 USD). The room was also quite clean; we booked a twin room with an exterior window. The hotel has a laundry room and a pool on the 6th floor. The washing machine and dryer each cost one coin, and one coin is only 10 MYR. Washing and drying together were cheaper than getting a single item dry-cleaned in China! The laundry detergent pods provided by the hotel also did a good job. Drying only took 50 minutes, and the clothes came out fluffy – it made me want to buy an LG commercial washer and dryer when I got back home.
Cons: There was a musty smell from the elevator on our floor to the room itself, but thankfully, the room had no odor. On the first night, after hardly sleeping due to the flight from China, I slept very well at the hotel. However, on the second night, around 4 or 5 AM, I heard someone singing outside on the street – a solo male voice, and it went on for quite a while, so I didn't sleep too well.

Guest UserGreat location, with a rich breakfast spread. Downstairs there's a mall, and the subway is right outside. Our room had a direct view of the Twin Towers at night. Check-out was also smooth; originally, our booking only included breakfast for two adults, but when they saw we had a child with us, they let our little one enjoy breakfast for free without any fuss!

Guest UserAlthough there were mixed reviews on Xiaohongshu, we found this hotel to be excellent after staying with our child. The hotel is very large, and the aesthetic decor is on point. There are many activities, especially surfing, which offers great value for money. The instructors were fantastic, and our child still talks about it. We also went on a sunset and firefly tour. It was less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel to the boat, and watching the sunset over the sea was a truly nice experience. There weren were fewer fireflies than expected, but the guide worked very hard to attract them. The hotel staff were very good; when our room's air conditioning broke, they quickly sent staff to help us move our luggage and switch rooms. The breakfast was also quite varied. One suggestion would be to offer more dining options for lunch, as there was only one restaurant available, compared to two in the evening.
