It was a very good experience. The rooms is clean and modern, the pillow is comfort, bathroom is so spcious, plus welcome drinks in the fridge once checked in. The staffs are always friendly and responsive. Lobby is well decorated, cozy feels like home with touch of artistic design. Surrounding is convenient, there are lots of choice of food, Chagee, 24hr convenience shop are downstair. Only 10-15mins drive to take speedboat to pulau. Only parking is about rm30 per day. I arrived at the hotel around 1:30 PM and was told check-in wasn't available yet. So I registered my passport and stored my luggage, and they said they'd bring it up to the room later. After going out for a meal and a walk, I returned to the front desk around 3:30 PM, only to be told they couldn't find my reservation. I explained that I had already registered, and then they informed me the room was under my husband's name, which was why my name wasn't found. But the problem is, they had already registered all our family's passports! Then another issue arose – they said the room wasn't ready. I pointed out that it was well past check-in time and that this was the hotel's problem. Eventually, they upgraded our room. The room itself was decent, and they even set up the sofa bed as requested for our family with a child. Just as I was about to relax, I used the toilet. I pressed the flush button on the wall, and the entire flush plate fell off, which gave me quite a fright. The facilities are really subpar. The hot water for the shower also wasn't working, and I had to call staff to fix it because their shower button design is so counter-intuitive. Did I think that was the end of it? There was another surprise when we were leaving. After checking out, my child's smart watch was missing. The location showed it was still at the hotel. I asked the front desk, and they said they hadn't found it. I showed them the watch's location, which clearly indicated our hotel and even the floor. The staff then took us to the room to look, but we couldn't find it. Finally, I asked them to find the cleaning staff, and sure enough, it was with them. But why didn't the cleaner report finding the watch immediately? If it weren't for the smart watch's tracking, it would have been impossible to prove. Luckily, we got it back. Additional note: The hotel pool is on the top floor and is quite small (a far cry from the Shangri-La).

Facilities: The room facilities are relatively new, but the hallway was very cold. They provide large glass bottles of water. The bathroom counter is spacious and the three-way separation (toilet, shower, sink) is excellent. Our room faced Signal Hill and had a super large balcony, but for families with kids, there wasn't enough space to hang clothes. The breakfast restaurant has a great view of the sea. The pool is small. Cleanliness: Very good. Environment: It's convenient to get anywhere. Kota Kinabalu isn't big, and from here, it's just a short walk to Gaya Street where you'll find all the popular influencer spots. It's also super close to both jetties and Suria Sabah shopping mall. The hotel lobby has two entrances: one for vehicles, which is where you take taxis, and a pedestrian entrance opposite Suria Sabah. Service: The front desk staff were very nice. When we arrived, there were no rooms available, and they mentioned we might have to take a connecting room. However, they later managed to arrange a higher floor room that wasn't connecting for us.

This is a great hotel located near the city center and very convenient for the airport. The facilities are excellent, with everything you need, including a swimming pool and fitness center. It's a good option for a quick overnight stay if you arrive late at night, though the breakfast is just okay. The front desk staff were fairly friendly. The scent in the elevator was a bit odd, though.

I really loved this hotel! The location is super convenient, the breakfast spread is excellent, and the rooms are spacious. The staff are all very friendly, and the room service quality was good too! A special shout-out to Miss Wong at the buffet restaurant; she's incredibly professional and made us feel so welcome. This is a fantastic choice if you're visiting Kota Kinabalu!

The room was beautiful and spacious, giving off a super vacation vibe! The hotel staff provided excellent service. There's also a bar by the sea where you can enjoy a drink and dinner. The location is right by Sutera Harbour, and the famous 'Love at Ringgit Island' (which was popular online) has now moved to Sutera Harbour. It's also not far from the airport, making it very convenient for getting around.

Booked a suite. The executive lounge was a bit lacking, but the infinity pool on the rooftop was absolutely stunning! Perfect for watching the sunset. Breakfast was also very rich and varied, though I must say, the bowls for the noodles were tiny. Seriously, serving noodles in those small, two-handled bowls was quite something!

Facilities: All amenities are available. Cleanliness: Spotless and tidy. Environment: Prime downtown location, with a street full of massage parlors downstairs. The bar street is a 5-minute walk, and Gaya Street is 15 minutes away. Service: Warm and friendly. My only complaint is the excessive noise! The sea view from the room is breathtaking, but the noise from the bar street across the way goes on until after 2 AM!

XXiatiandenaxiehuaerShangri-La Tanjung Aru is the best spot to watch the sunset, but unfortunately, it's been raining for the past two days, so I haven't had a chance to see it yet. The hotel service is excellent, and the breakfast spread is very generous. The room itself is a bit dated, but it's incredibly spacious and comfortable. Looking forward to its next renovation!

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

XXinzhuangshidaimiOur New Year family trip unexpectedly led us to Shangri-La Rasa Ria, and it was a fantastic surprise! The overall resort experience was excellent. The hygiene, environment, and service were all good. Breakfast was delicious; the sirloin steak and Vietnamese pho were a must-have every day. The kids spent all their time in the pool. Even though the hotel was full, it has two lobbies – one for the Garden Wing and one for the Ocean Wing – which helped manage the flow of guests, so it never felt overcrowded, which was just perfect. We stayed in the Ocean Wing, which is quieter than the Garden Wing. Although it's a bit far from the city, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to both the city and the airport. We visited Shangri-La Tanjung Aru during our island hopping, and it was much more crowded, probably because it has its own pier for sea excursions. All in all, I still think the resort experience at Rasa Ria was much better.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

HHefeng05This is my second stay at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, and the experience was excellent once again! 👍 📍 The location is absolutely perfect, right in the city center. It's a 5-10 minute walk to shopping malls and duty-free shops, and even closer to Durian Street and Gaya Street, making it super convenient for dining, shopping, and exploring. In the evenings, it's lovely to stroll to the night market or the seafront. 🛏️ I highly recommend the high-floor sea-view rooms. The views are unbeatable 🌊, and watching the sunset is breathtaking! The rooms are spacious and clean, the bedding is comfortable, and it's perfect for family trips. They even offer a complimentary extra bed, which is a thoughtful touch. 🍽️ The breakfast deserves special praise! There's a wide variety of dishes, and the freshly cooked noodles and rice vermicelli have different toppings each day – the beef and tendons are incredibly flavorful 😋. The Teh Tarik (pulled tea) is rich and aromatic, and the croissants are thin and crispy, unlike any I've had in China! The Chinese-speaking staff even help prepare the Teh Tarik, providing friendly and attentive service. 💁 The staff are always smiling, proactive, and enthusiastic. Communication in Chinese is largely seamless, making you feel right at home.

CCharleenLThis is our second time staying in 2 months. We had an upgraded room for our booking this time. Absolutely love the big room. It’s a one room studio with all the amenities. Only downside is the pillows are too big and hard for sleeping. Requested to change, and they managed to get a thinner one. Not perfect but better. Hope the management of this hotel look into the pillows provided. All of our friends had the same complaints about the pillow.

RryetravelsIt was my first time to stay at Kota Kinabalu Marriott. The overall stay was amazing! Fast check in/out. Spotless clean, spacious rooms and modern. Great hotel amenities. Memorable sunset view from the rooftop while drinking cocktails and infinity pool. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was super delicious with wide varieties of choices from local to western cuisine. The view of the sea and the island from the balcony were absolutely great! It's located in the centre and nearby supermarkets, restaurants, old town, night markets, malls, money exchange centre and many more. Walking distance too to everything. I will definitely Comaback here again.

GGuest UserThe hotel has a great location and very friendly staff. For future improvements, I'd suggest updating the bath towels, as many were worn and discolored. The extra bed could also be better maintained. Unfortunately, during our one-night stay, my husband received several insect bites on his legs. This is meant as constructive feedback—we otherwise had a positive experience and hope this is helpful.
