Had a pleasant stay for a short business trip. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Amenities were complete, especially the gym which was convenient and clean. Location is also strategic with easy access to nearby restaurants and conveniences. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Would definitely consider staying here again for future work trips.

Great value for money option. The hotel was very kind in acceding to my request for a good room allocation. The housekeepers and nice and take pride in their jobs. Everything about this hotel deserves a solid 4 stars at the time of writing. It’s actually a great hard product due to their recent refurbishment. I would say 70% of the room seems to have undergone refurbishment except for the bathrooms. But the whole room was spotlessly clean anyway. Air conditioning was very fresh and cold. No odors whatsoever. Service was lacking. The receptionist was visibly overwhelmed with work. Just Don’t open the room directory and expect them to provide the services in there in the biggest nonsense page I’ve ever seen in a hotel. You’ll be fine. I would say that i quite enjoyed my stay here despite coming in with little expectations.

It fell below Ctrip's four-diamond rating, barely enough for a five-day stay. If it were three diamonds, it would have been just fine. The mattress was so soft that my back nearly broke on the first night, and I almost wanted to change hotels. The facilities were average, and the bathroom smelled foul, but thankfully we were experienced in dealing with such situations. Transportation was convenient, but the restaurant downstairs was truly unpalatable, especially the Korean restaurant. Overall, I'm not saying it was terrible, but it didn't meet Ctrip's four-diamond rating and didn't meet my expectations. Furthermore, Ctrip's prices were a bit high, and I felt like I was wasting my money. Next time I book an overseas homestay, I'll try booking it through other platforms like ABNB.

The room was quite spacious and the environment was pleasant; it wasn't noisy at night either. Although the hotel front desk didn't offer full Chinese service, the staff knew a few Chinese phrases, so communication wasn't an issue. There's a convenience store and restaurants nearby, plus a BaWangChaJi. Across the street diagonally, there's also a large shopping mall with Chinese drink brands and Haidilao. Overall, I think the location is pretty good.

The room was spacious and the air conditioning was comfortably cold, which I really appreciated. However, the carpet was dirty and there were noticeable cigarette marks on it, which affected the overall cleanliness. The shower pressure was just okay, not very strong. With some improvements in cleanliness and maintenance, the stay could be much better.

Really friendly helpful staff and very polite too. Especially to name Ben and Ronald who are very good and helpful at the ”front line.” That is what I called the Front line. Once again, a special Thank you to all. Like the infamous Arnie said, ” I'll Be Back!!!

Our small family decided to have a staycation in few hotel/resort and by far Sutera has won our heart. This place is amazing and i suggest anybody who wants to experience this place to stay more than 1Night. The room is still in its Vintage style , tv only has those old channel , there's one bathtub in the room which we loved specially my son,for the breakfast i do believe they can add more choices as they are more korean dishes focused, it'll be nice to have local kuih (hinompuka/pais pisang) other than kuih pisang only.. But other than that, you actually get free 1hour of bike rental on ur stay which we only know when we ask around, it was located right in front of the kids pool , other than that they do have a small train going around from Magellan to Pacific sutera and its FOC!!! I loved the staff energy the entire time, he asked our son to be in his seat as a driver and even let my son press few button and act like he's driving the train!! god bless your fun soul sir!! keep up the good work!! we will definitely be back again soon🥰❣️

Amazing hotel in every way. Rooms are superb, food is delicious and the pool area is very clean and tidy. Bed is amazing. Probably one of the best we’ve stayed in in Borneo. Aircon is very good with plenty of power and offers a quiet mode. Bathroom and shower are top of the range. It offered a bath too which was a nice touch. Very good here. No noise disturbances at night. The WiFi is very good too. Amazing service. Probably on the higher end of hotel prices but what you get is extremely worth the extra money. It’s beautiful all over and just walking through the lobby is lovely.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hotel with my wife and child for our vacation, and we had a truly enjoyable experience. Although the weather during our stay was mostly rainy and we only managed to spend one day at the water park and swimming pool, the hotel’s facilities more than made up for it. Our child especially loved the indoor kids’ playground, which kept him entertained throughout the trip. The buffet breakfast was another highlight — delicious, with a wide variety of choices to suit everyone. The hotel staff were all very friendly, attentive, and helpful, making our stay even more pleasant. Overall, despite the weather, we had a wonderful and satisfying stay. Highly recommended for families!

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

EE0251****This hotel is incredibly old, honestly the oldest resort I've ever stayed at. For this room type, the entrance is in a corridor that's pitch black even during the day. I'd suggest the hotel turn on the lights outside these rooms even in daylight. Generally, using the Shangri-La app to request services gets a response, but sometimes you have to go to the front desk. For example, when we checked out, our request for luggage assistance to the front desk went unanswered. Overall, the experience was mediocre to slightly below average. The service and 'software' aspects are still quite good, and the scenery is beautiful, but the in-room experience and facilities are just too outdated.

HHelen/LOur stay in this hotel is superb , the room is very very nice and updated to the latest (i believe) , it has a good view of the sea where you can see the boat go and come back from the island, bed is super comfy and large , toilet and vanity area is very very spacious (we looovedd it!!) for in house guest, parking is just Rm10 (once) with unlimited time (in/out) you just need to let the front desk team know ur car plate number. We add on the breakfast upon check in at a cost of Rm65/adult, it was okay, choices can be improve but we love the beef noodle and tea tarik very much! we will definitely come back again for our staycation🥰❣️

CcmoalkSerene place. Nearby beach, pretty sunset. There are still construction going on. Room is great, spacious, comfy bed, hot shower. The only downer is, very bad phone reception and zero wifi. Shame they have nice huge smart tv but cannot use. Service wise, very bad. There's an obvious double standard on local vs foreigner. Local are left to figure out where their room is - it's a sizeable resort, u will get exhausted if u have a lot of luggage, no map given too. When asked for direction, the receptionist just said ”belakang sana”, while white tourist get escorted to their front door.. And since phone connection is bad, u have to walk all the way to reception to ask for help..wifi not working, fridge not working, fan at verandah not working...pretty bad experince we're glad it's only a night stay.

GGuest UserAn entire entertainment complex that, with our corner room view, boasted an excellent sunset viewing location. The hallways are modern while the interior was more dated. The check-in counter staff should have also prioritised check-in guests over other guests that barged in line and jumped the queue to ask for other things, otherwise having only stayed one night, we did not have any other experiences of their service.

AAnonymous UserThis is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with ”hello, sir/ma'am” whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.

KKara TaiThe resort is very easy to get to from Kota Kinabalu airport. Using the Grab app makes it convenient to call a car to take you to the Jesselton Point to catch the boat to the resort. The resort is quite beautiful and clean. Reading other reviews, I wasn’t quite sure why several had complaints about the price and food. The food was all excellent - fresh and reasonably priced. We ate at both specialty restaurants as well - Fisherman’s Cove and Omakase - and both were excellent. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a lot of variety to choose from and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we loved the sea view from our terrace. The bathroom was well-equipped and spacious. The pool was very clean and there were plenty of sun chairs to choose from. The gift shop had many cute items. The spa is beautiful and the massage was amazing! What needs improvement - the bathtub in our villa was a bit dirty with some dead bugs. It’s fantastic that they offer a complimentary boat shuttle to the other bay near the marine center but it’s extremely littered with plastic. I asked the staff for a garbage bag and ended up collecting about 5 kg worth of garbage from the beach and sea. This should be the government policy or authorities responsibility - they need to clean it up and charge fines for littering. Overall, we loved this resort and wanted to stay longer. We definitely recommend staying here. I would like to specifically mention Aileen, Rozana, Nathaniel and Shadar for making our stay memorable and comfortable.
