The hotel is located in the city center. The interior of the hotel is very modern and the room is clean. The staffs are very friendly , helpful and always greet us whenever we go back to the hotel . Two convenience stores downstairs and some restaurants.

I expected a great hotel stay and they delivered. All the staff were lovely. Thank you for that. My only issue is the lack of room information regarding what is available in the hotel. Normally I would expect marketing information and menus for restarunt and bar in the room. The TV does give room service menu but was not required. Fortunately we found Ben, the Concierge in the lobby who very kindly explained what we asked, and provided a map for the area. Very welcome. Thank you very much.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic – super convenient for getting to the pier, the beach, and for shopping. The Dawn Plaza right opposite is a huge plus. The sea view room offers an expansive view, and there's a balcony, even if the view is a bit obstructed. The hotel's design is well-thought-out, and the facilities are user-friendly and comfortable. There's a QR code on the hotel phone that you can scan for a Chinese service menu. The bathroom counter is spacious enough, and the infinity pool boasts a truly stunning view. All the service staff are very professional. The breakfast seating is well-organized, and the à la carte dishes at breakfast really speak to the quality.

The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach, which is ranked as the third best sunset beach in the world. It's an older hotel with small balconies and a quiet atmosphere. The front desk was able to arrange an early check-in. They speak fluent English, but didn't understand any Chinese. There aren't many food stores nearby, and seafood is quite expensive. It's a convenient 10-kilometer taxi ride to the city center.

I booked through Trip.com and already paid the 10 MYR tourism tax, but the hotel still asked me to pay it again. They only dropped it after I showed them my booking confirmation. Everyone, please be careful not to get scammed! I've stayed in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu for two days each, and this was the first time I was asked to pay a tourism tax. The beds are a bit small at one meter, so it was a tight squeeze for a family of four. However, the hotel's location is convenient, and it shares a pool with The Magellan, which is only a ten-minute walk away. That's a great perk, considering The Magellan's rooms are about 300 MYR more expensive. The hotel's own beach and pool are pretty good and kept the kids entertained.

Stayed in a city view room at Sheraton Kota Kinabalu, but was pleasantly surprised to still catch a glimpse of the perfect blue sea and even spot speedboats from the window—such a nice bonus! My kid absolutely loved the swimming pool on the 23rd floor. The cool breeze and 360-degree view of Kota Kinabalu made it extra special. The gym also comes with a great view, which makes working out a lot more enjoyable. Buffet breakfast on the 5th floor was just nice, available from 6:30am to 10:30am—perfect timing to start the day with a relaxed morning. I also want to give a big kudos to the housekeeping team—I accidentally left some belongings behind, and they carefully packed everything for me to collect. Overall, a wonderful and memorable stay. Would definitely come back again.

Room was spacious and very clean. Very comfortable with 2 pillows each bed. Toilet also very clean and has enough towels for 3 of us. Hotel staff also was very friendly and helpful especially during check in. Breakfast buffet not many choices of food but still enough to make stomach full. Location wise very good. Near to Pasar Philippines and next to Central Point mall. Easy to get anything around there. Had a very pleasant stay and will consider coming back.

XXiamaonvFacilities: This was a highly anticipated trip, and the facilities were complete and well-equipped. The garden had lounge chairs and tables, and there was a dedicated resting area for guests with early/late flights. Cleanliness: The room was cleaned daily, and supplies were replenished promptly. The bottled water provided was large capacity, and you could ask staff for more if needed! This was a very thoughtful touch. Environment: The sunset was incredibly beautiful! There's a hotel-specific floating platform in the sea for paddleboarders to rest and enjoy the sunset, which is definitely worth it! 👍👍👍 Service: For breakfast in the restaurant, you need to ask the staff to help you find a table; you can't just seat yourself. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, and the ambiance is great in both.

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel was perfect for a completely relaxed trip. I was very satisfied with the room; the balcony was great and offered a good level of privacy. However, my initial idea of stepping right onto the beach didn't pan out. You can see the beach from afar, but that's as close as you get! You actually have to walk through a large area of greenery, so it’s quite a distance from the sand. The only upside is that on a day like this, you can sit outside all day without getting any sun, which was very comfortable. It’s absolutely ideal for just lying back and looking at your phone. Truly a perfect spot for men who just want to chill out. The Ocean Wing family room would be better for families with two children. For us, with just one child, it felt a bit wasteful as the top bunk was empty, haha. The Garden Wing pool is livelier and also a good spot for watching the sunset. If you like a more vibrant atmosphere, stay there. If you prefer quiet, choose the other side. Our family room, 1802, was actually about the same distance from the Garden Wing lobby as it was from the Ocean Wing front desk. Walking through the connecting corridor was fine, and it wasn't hot. At night, the path with the lawn lights was also very close. The so-called Ocean Wing is actually quite quiet, and the rooms have a large outdoor resting area. As for value for money, that’s up to you to decide. The ground floor of the Garden Wing only has two small outdoor stools and gets more sun. The room itself was quite cool, with strong air conditioning. I recommend wearing long sleeves when going to the restaurant for meals – definitely long sleeves! For dining, I’d suggest the Garden Wing buffet restaurant; they have more variety. Regarding booking activities, I recommend emailing the hotel in advance to confirm your booking number and the activities you want to do. Otherwise, don't expect to be able to book activities like the night animal viewing on the spot. There are only slots for 10 people per day, and usually, three families are enough to fill them. So, I couldn't book anything during my two-day stay, which was very disappointing. One friendly aspect might be for children who need childcare. Upon check-in, they give you a daily activity list in both English and Chinese, and children can be supervised. Daily drinks and food are replenished. You can actually order Grab food delivery, but there's an extra 10 RM delivery fee. It’s really far, over ten kilometers! So remote... There’s a restaurant nearby called Dongfang Tea Restaurant; you can search for it on Dazhong Dianping. Add the owner's phone number on WeChat, and he'll come pick you up! It can save you a lot; it's about 90 RMB per person. The hotel's buffet dinner isn't great, not as good as the breakfast buffet. That's what people who tried it said; I didn't, haha. Breakfast lasts from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, and I usually went around 9:30 or 10:00 AM and stayed until after 10:30 AM. The shuttle bus schedule is also very useful in my pictures. For check-out, I left around 12:30 PM, and the front desk told me to be in the lobby 15 minutes early for the bus. The drop-off time is excellent, taking you to Imago Shopping Mall. However, they can't drop you off at the airport directly; there are only two airport shuttles, one in the morning and one in the evening. Finally, here's a tip: there's a QR code in the lobby to register as a Shangri-La member. Just scan it and register your membership number to receive a complimentary four-piece travel size shower gel set. There's also Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk (see picture). You can ask for her if needed. Summary: For older children, swimming before sunset is perfect, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, watching the sunset all the way – it’s stunning. Cons: Far from the city, and activities are difficult to book. Food: They have all the usual stuff, so it's just okay. Overall, it's a hotel very suitable for a completely relaxed and laid-back stay.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

We had a great time playing! Definitely go with a tour group – my broken English made things really difficult!

LLuosifenxiaojieI usually don't write reviews, but this time I have to praise the Kota Kinabalu Marriott. Even before checking in, I received an email from Adrian who was very attentive to our flight details and special requests, offering great convenience. The room was really nice, though I forgot to take a picture of my favorite vanity mirror and the solid wood sliding door separating the spaces. The room decor felt very high-quality, clean, and comfortable. I'd seen mixed reviews on Xiaohongshu before my stay, but I ended up loving it myself – it truly exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was from 7-11 AM, so as a late riser, I practically turned it into brunch. Plus, the restaurant view was absolutely stunning, as shown in the picture. Every time we took a taxi back to the hotel, a concierge would quickly come to open the door and greet us, which was a nice touch 👍. I didn't get to use the gym or the pool 🏊‍♀️, but the rooftop bar had good prices and decent drinks 👍. #HotelAesthetic #HotelLover Any downsides are pretty objective, but no hotel in Kota Kinabalu can escape the airplane noise ✈️, given how small the city is. For those staying at the Marriott, I'd recommend eating out at Gaya Street (about 10 RMB by taxi) at Chinese restaurants, etc. I wouldn't recommend the night market to the right of the hotel entrance (it's a Malaysian gathering spot).

AAlex_CheckInGot you — I’ll keep it balanced and honest, like a real guest who had both good and not-so-good moments. ⸻ I recently stayed at Lintas Platinum Hotel for 5 days, and overall it was a decent stay with a few hiccups along the way. On the first day, check-in was smooth, but unfortunately the first room assigned to me had no air-conditioning and no power. After informing the staff, they arranged a room change. The switch was handled fairly quickly, which I appreciated, and the new room was functioning properly. For the rest of the stay, the room was generally comfortable. The bed was good, WiFi was stable, and air-conditioning worked well (very important in Kota Kinabalu’s weather). Daily housekeeping ensured that water bottles and basic amenities were replenished consistently, which I appreciated. However, there were a few issues during the stay. For the last few days, the bathroom phone kept ringing every evening around 6:29pm. I was quite busy in the mornings and only managed to report it on the last day. The staff checked but couldn’t find any issue. It was a bit strange and slightly disturbing, though thankfully it didn’t escalate beyond that. I also noticed that the towels provided were a bit old, and the housekeeping floor cleanliness could be improved. While the room was generally maintained, the floor didn’t always feel properly cleaned. That said, the staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. Despite a few inconveniences, the overall experience was still reasonably comfortable. With some improvements in maintenance and housekeeping quality control, the hotel could definitely provide a much better experience. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.

GGuest UserThe room was clean and decorated in a simple yet elegant style, with a touch of British charm. You could tell it's an older building with some history. The room facilities were a bit dated, and the air conditioning was quite noisy. There were many Korean guests, and the breakfast had some local characteristics, leaning towards a Korean style.
