We are really venturing into the luxury definition now - but if a trip to one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth is within your budget, you should absolutely head to the Galapagos Islands.

Located in the Ecuadorian Republic, this archipelago is famous for its fauna. Fun fact: Darwin is credited with conceptualising the theory of evolution from his studies here. Be prepared to be amazed!

You may have to dodge the social media clout-chasers here, but that doesn't mean that Santorini is anything less than an absolutely gorgeous experience. The beaches here are the definition of luxury, exemplified by all those rather splendid boats/yachts that adorn the seafront.

Top tip: Head to the beaches in Oia - but if you want to check out the Instagram-saturated Blue Domes, be sure to get there early to avoid the crowds…

Now we're talking - a classic idea. While other parts of the country are more exclusive in terms of their clientele - see Monte Carlo in neighbouring Monaco, or St Tropez - Paris is probably the number one city for luxury shopping on the continent.

Christian Dior, Chanel, Lanvin, Hermès, Louis Vuitton - they all come from here. So if luxury = shopping in your world, then the French capital is for you!

The Big Apple also boasts luxury shopping treats - you may well be aware. But with the fabulously pricey likes of Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's and Bergdorf Goodman here, we couldn't not swiftly mention New York City as a luxury shopping dream.

Not the immediate thought when it comes to luxury holidays, but we have 2 reasons for selecting Norway here - 1) you can be as bougie as you can imagine when it comes to booking Fjord trips and 2) it is really rather expensive in Scandinavia…
