We loved our stay at this hotel. It was amazingly clean, and developed to look like new. It made our stay feel extraordinary. The staff and service was great. Full of smiles and always willing to help. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!! Thank you!

What can I say. Entrance to hotel is nice as you walk and goes down there. Place is clean yes, but shows age. Lifts work and large. But, going down press button. But, blanked out or no indicator or level. Room and whole level 4 I was on had heating on middle of heat wave. Got to Room and found vents for air con, but busted control. Light fitting in bathroom blinked, Room. Felt aged and had open light bulb in closet. Was clean yes, but didn't feel 100 level. No way to turn heating off when I came back from gig. Ended up running Bath on. Min temp to cool down and sleep and off. By 4 am room with basic fan was just about cool enough to sleep. On entry back to hotel from gig had heavy handed security list checking even though guests had cards. Got my room no mixed up. But, gave name and ended to being marched to the desk to confirm my room and that I'd paid. Security guard told me that there is no way I had booked in when I had. No apology when it's confirmed I was a guest. Wouldn't stay again as hotel needs clear investment and feels like it would be a 40 quid a night level normally, but gig pricing raised costs. Now have a bad back and aching from sleeping in a bath for 90 quid and generally sore and tired. First time using Britainia should of gone with Travel lodge, IBis Brands or Premier Inn as nice front, but very dated and poor brand and rooms.

This is a castle hotel with a history of 800 years. The hotel service is warm and thoughtful, the sanitary conditions are good, the breakfast is rich and delicious. What's more worth mentioning is the environment of the hotel. In addition to the beautiful castle, the surrounding natural environment is even more pleasant.

If you can get over the odd lay out and outside aesthetic, the OX Manchester is great. The staff are nice and approachable, the room is nice and the bathrooms are clean and new. Breakfast is great and the dining area is set up well. OX Manchester is also close to Metro link which makes it ideal if you don’t want to drive further into the city.

I stayed the day before and booked an extra night but had to move room which was very smooth move. Firstly the was a poo stain on the toilet lid when I checked in and then later when I took a bath it was that hot that I burnt the bottom layer of my foot from the water. There is no way it should be running that hot. Then once I managed to cool my foot down and the bath. I burnt 2 of my toes just from touch the side of the taps. Hotel as expected. Clean and convenient. Room had everything we needed. We visited the wellness gym but our card didn’t work so not sure if this is an extra? Only downside was breakfast was very busy, had to wait for a table and they had run out of food items. I ordered a poached egg and waited so long I went for my breakfast and finished it before my egg arrived! Good selection of food if everything had been topped up! Not enough staff on though to cater for numbers waiting for breakfast….however this wouldn’t stop me staying again! Overall a pleasant stay :)

We checked in before 3 p.m. and got the room key immediately! The location is just by the train station, the room is clean and comfortable, and the staff are quite friendly :) The only minor flaw is that the room has no kettle or bottles of water, so you can only get tap water at the bar beside the reception. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel!

Very beautiful downstairs/reception area. You are expected to check in using a machine. There was a tea and coffee station on the same floor as my room which was good (no tea/coffee in the room) The rooms are good (mine only cost a few pounds more than the Travelodge, for the same night). But the downside for me is that the rooms seem very over-engineered. A bit like it was someone's vanity project to create a hotel like this, rather than considering what makes guests lives easier. Overall I'm glad I stayed and experienced it and I do recommend it as a good hotel.

Stayed here a few times now, quiet hotel but near to all local shops and transport links to Manchester city centre and the airport. Rooms are warm, with a fan in the cupboard if needed, plenty of tea and coffee provided, mini fridge and microwave too 👍 my shower wasn't the best on this stay but not the end of the world tbh.

Hotel Pool has now beeb decommissioned and no longer operational. Gym was available but not much equipment available. During my stay there was a maintenance malfunction resulting in two whole floors of the building having to endure loud drilling noise throughout the night as no onsite maintenance team to fix. Had to move rooms at 11pm and entire floor one stank of ******** - concierge advised the hotel have this problem frequently but they are unable to police guests who are smoking **** in their rooms. Not the best five days business trip overall although menu was great and staff were very friendly. Daily car parking charge of £5 per night for guests should be abolished in my opinion.
