Stayed for three nights, and it was the most unforgettable apartment of our trip – a truly delightful surprise! I'll always remember my room number, 18-1, with its incredible oceanfront view. There's a private beach right downstairs, and delicious nasi lemak across the street. I definitely have to go back and stay again!
The hotel's location is excellent. There's a mall right downstairs, making shopping and dining super convenient. It's also close to other tourist attractions, and getting a taxi is quick and easy! We even ran into Chinese celebrity Huang Xiaoming and others promoting a movie at Gurney Plaza during our stay.
I am very pleased with the service given by the receptionist. They are welcoming and very friendly. They had been going an extra mile for my birthday during the stay and it made my day. 🥰 Thank you so much again for the hospitality and for the upgrade. The room is spacious and have all the basic amenities. The only thing that I think the hotel can improve is adding more variation to their channels on the TV and all the lift need to be available during peak season since it is a hassle to wait for the lift and missed out a few times just because of the lift is full. However I would definitely stay here again the next time I go to Penang for all the other reasons ☺️
I just stayed for one night. Which was enough for me.
Be aware this is not part of the official Rainbow Resort Hotel. Upon seeing my confirmation, the receptionist told me my room was an Airbnb. The building is a hotel as well private rooms that are rented out.
The room itself was very spacious, 70 sqm with one bedroom and a living space. It had obviously been repainted recently (it smelt a fresh paint) so the walls were clean. Air conditioning and basic amenities were provided.
The building itself, has seen a lot of wear and tear. If you’re on a budget and want a spacious room it will meet your needs.
For the price I think it’s quite reasonable if you’re there for a short stay.
The hotel is next to a beach, and a swimming pool downstairs. There a few restaurants across the road.
This hotel is considered an older, established 4-star property in the old town, and some of the facilities are a bit dated; I hope they can be updated. The hotel breakfast is excellent, with a good variety and local specialties, though I wish they'd improve the drink quality. My room was old, the AC was leaking, and the ceiling was visibly peeling. Lin at the front desk, who speaks Chinese, provided exceptional service, while others were just average. We arrived on New Year's Eve without a reservation for the buffet dinner, but Lin communicated with the restaurant and managed to get us an extra table so we could enjoy our New Year's Eve meal. However, the 188 MYR price didn't match the quality; if this were in China, it probably wouldn't last a month. The salmon was cut into small strips, and the plate was empty quickly—looks like it's the same everywhere, haha. Ninety percent of the diners were local Chinese. The hotel is located in the old town, about a 15-minute walk to the mural street, and not far from Little India and the Peranakan Museum. There's a hawker center downstairs, but it was closed for the New Year. Overall, the hotel is good, and the location is quiet yet central.
Five stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!
Overall, my stay at this hotel was really great, perfect for those who want comfort and convenience for exploring and dining.
What impressed me most was the sense of space. Both the room and the public areas were very spacious, completely free of any cramped feeling. The room itself was large enough to spread out luggage and move around freely. The bedding and furniture layout were well-arranged, not feeling crowded at all, making for a very relaxing stay. The bathroom area was also quite roomy, with a clean and efficient wet/dry separation, making showering and washing up very comfortable and convenient for daily use.
Next up is the pool, which scored high marks for both aesthetics and practicality. The pool's design is beautiful, the water quality is clean, and the environment is meticulously maintained. It's fantastic for photos during the day when the light is good, and a swim in the evening or at night with the breeze is incredibly pleasant. It's suitable for both relaxing and for kids to play in the water. Even just sitting by the pool and daydreaming felt very therapeutic.
The location is another big plus. It's super close to the night market, within walking distance, making it incredibly convenient for evening strolls and eating. No need for taxis or long walks; if you want to grab some snacks, buy small items, or soak in the local atmosphere, it’s just a few steps away. Returning late also felt very safe. It’s ideal for anyone who loves the night market vibe and doesn't want to hassle with transportation.
The building is very new. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment on the 27th floor, and the balcony view was fantastic. The room was extremely clean with fresh and comfortable decor. The bedding and towels were new and spotless.
The hot and cold water dispenser was super convenient, with clear instructions posted right next to it. It was very quiet at night, without the usual rumble of Southeast Asian motorcycles. The location is convenient, within walking distance to many teahouses where you can enjoy a local breakfast. The only thing to note is that the smaller bedroom has no window, but there was no strange odor in the room, so it wasn't an issue at all.
“I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a very pleasant experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, professional, and always ready to assist with any requests. Check-in was smooth and efficient, which made a great first impression after a long journey.
The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The bed was especially cozy, allowing for a good night’s sleep, and the amenities provided were more than adequate for a relaxing stay. I also appreciated the little details, such as complimentary toiletries and the overall quiet atmosphere, which made it easy to unwind.
The hotel’s location is definitely one of its strong points. It was conveniently situated near key attractions, restaurants, and public transport, making it easy to get around without much hassle. This added a lot of value to my stay.
That said, there are a few areas where improvement could be made. Some parts of the room felt slightly dated, and occasional delays in service were noticeable during peak hours. However, these were relatively minor issues and did not significantly affect the overall experience.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and friendly service. With a few small improvements, it has the potential to be an even better place to stay. I would certainly consider returning in the future.”
Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult
耳耳東氵罒幸一止Bayview Hotel Penang is excellently located near to good food and sights. The hotel staff are helpful and kind, and the hotel premises itself is grand though it has seen more gloried days in the past. The rooms are spacious and beds comfy, the pillows a little thin but one can request for extra foam pillows if required. i like that they have a QR code guest cam scan and ask for services online, which supercedes calling on the phone. Me and my friend enjoyed our stay though the view was a tat disappointing cuz we didn't get the full bay view. 🙂
GGuest UserThis hotel was truly the most comfortable stay of our entire trip. First off, the overall comfort of the room was excellent. The bedding was soft, the layout was well-designed, and just being in the room felt incredibly relaxing, not at all cramped. What impressed me most was the soundproofing – once you closed the door, it was completely quiet. Whether it was sleeping at night or napping during the day, I could always get a peaceful, sound sleep, which is fantastic for light sleepers.
The view was also incredible; I could see the ocean right from my bed. The sea views in the morning and evening were particularly therapeutic, and just watching the ocean made my mood so much better. The breakfast also lived up to expectations, with a rich variety and great taste. The ingredients were fresh, and I felt completely satisfied, ready to start the day in a good mood.
Overall, it was quiet, comfortable, the sea view was a huge bonus, and the breakfast was thoughtfully prepared. Whether you're looking to relax on vacation or just get some good rest, I highly recommend it. I honestly didn't want to leave after my stay. The value for money and the overall experience were absolutely top-notch.
GGuest UserOverall it is clean and tidy. Location is quite good. 5mins away from night hawker/food street. Appx. less than 15 mins car ride away from shopping mall. The only minus point is face towel only provided on last day of trip and no comb provided.
GGuest UserThe Eastern & Oriental Hotel in Penang is a five-star hotel brimming with history, located in the George Town heritage area, and it's the only five-star hotel by the sea in the city center. The hotel is divided into the Victory Annexe and the Heritage Wing. Although the Heritage Wing is currently closed for renovations, the Victory Annexe still offers a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious with vintage decor, and the infinity pool with sea views is impressive. Breakfast is varied and delicious. The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance of Penang's main attractions, such as Mural Street and the Kimberley Street Night Market. In terms of service, the hotel provides private airport transfers and luggage assistance, demonstrating a high standard of service. Despite some facility limitations due to renovations, the overall value for money is still very high, making it suitable for travelers who appreciate a blend of history and modernity.
YYanne DjieWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious with a beautiful view, and the private beach made the experience even more special. The hotel facilities were great, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. Breakfast was also very varied and enjoyable.
When one of our rooms had an issue, the hotel responded quickly and handled it very well. They provided us with a new room, upgraded it, and even gave us a complimentary gesture.
Thank you, Angsana 🙏

AAnonymous UserFantastic! Exceeded my expectations.
The swimming pool is great for families (two adults, one child), and the water is quite clean. Plus, there's a slide!
Inside the hotel, there's a huge swing set that's perfect for photos.
Breakfast offers a wide variety, including both Southeast Asian and Western options. The fruits are incredibly fresh, and the jackfruit was especially delicious.
All the hotel staff are very nice and have excellent attitudes.
They also provide complimentary bicycles for guests, including both single and tandem bikes.
Our room had a partial sea view, and all the amenities were very clean. The outlets are international, so I didn't need a travel adapter at all.
I highly recommend watching a fire show. You can find many options just a 10-minute walk down the beach.
When walking along the beach, you can really notice that the sand at the hotel's section is much finer than elsewhere.
SSylvia Wan 2908I booked a king-size bed for me and my daughter. The room was very big (huge huge size) and had two large air conditioners. There was also a big sofa, a table, and chairs in the room, which made it very comfortable.
The bathroom was very clean, and I really liked the shower because it had different water settings you could change.
Every day they give two welcome drinks, and you can choose alcohol, tea, coffee, or juice.
The hotel also has a kids’ play area, a gym, and a yoga room. They provide filtered water, so you can refill your bottle anytime.
We ordered the smoked duck pasta and nasi lemak. The nasi lemak was really delicious.
This hotel is so closed to the airport.
I really loved this hotel and will definitely stay there again.
AAnonymous User2nd time stayed in this hotel! Perfect location, walkable distance to famous breakfast Toh Soon cafe (old shop).
Highly recommended! Room was clean and quite spacious!
There are swimming pool and gym room but too bad we have no time to use these facilities 😂
overall very good 👍🏻👍🏻
