Hotels With Gym in Penang, Malaysia

It was a last minute booking and we also had to extend our stay. The front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating. She deserves 5 stars. Absolutely LOVE the location. (but beware, the Grab's GPS hasn't been entirely up-to-date so the drivers have struggled to find the place)

Check in lobby was hard to locate as it was at the side of the hotel block. Upon check in, I was given third floor. When I asked if I could have higher floor as indicated in my booking request, staff said I need to top up. This was clearly upselling. I was not willing as the price for each room was not cheap in the first place. Staff knew that i was aware it was the bottom tier room & mentioned the freebis in the room was npt charged. I was not impressed as I do not come all the way to Penang for some freebies. Hptel staff obviously did not know what hospitality is all about.Entering the room, it was not too bad. When I opened the window, I almost flipped out. It was rubbish (attached a pic). I then confirmed I was given the bottom tier room. Opening the wardrobe, there was a musty oily smell which obviously was not aired for a while. Stay at room was not comfortable. Badly lit and no way to open window to rubbish view. I guess the only good thing was the shuttle to the various shopping/ eating spots. Upon check out, i was asked if stay was good. I indicated to the staff my stay at the hotel was disappointing due to the above reasons. Staff said i could email the hotel in advance in my next visit indicating the reason above. But I will like to tell the management this -- no way am i coming back to this hotel that only know to upsell & missing out on what true hospitality means. There are hotels out there that offer much better services without breaking the bank. Thanks but no thanks.

Environment: The facilities are very new, and the bedding is good too. Service: The front desk service is excellent, with staff on duty at night, which is convenient for check-in and check-out. Location: Convenient, with many dining options nearby. Transportation: It's located in George Town, a bit far from the Old Town on foot (but fine if you like walking). You can take the bus, but you have to wait 😓. Ride-sharing apps like Grab are convenient. Security: There's security, and the elevator requires a key card, so it's quite safe. Hygiene: For an apartment hotel, it's exceptionally good. Free daily cleaning is offered, but you need to inform the front desk. Swimming Pool: Very good, many families with children were playing there.

The accommodation is in a convenient location, easy to travel to, and there is a convenience store at the hotel. The hotel is near the sea, has a good atmosphere, and the receptionists are friendly and provide detailed information about the room. There is a room deposit of 100 ringgit, which will be returned on the check-out day.

M Social Resort Penang is a relatively new hotel, so all the facilities are still quite new. We arrived early, around 1:50 PM, and the hotel staff kindly allowed us to check in, which was great as we could get into our room and rest. We really appreciate that! The first day we checked in, the in-room AI assistant, Xiao Meixi, responded to voice commands, but after that, it basically stopped responding. However, one convenient feature of the AI machine is that you can directly request things from the hotel through it, without needing to call the front desk. Finally, it would be even better if there were more chairs and tables on the balcony and by the pool. Because the hotel has many guests, when you go to the pool, there aren't enough chairs, and nowhere to put your belongings, which is a real shame. Also, they should consider building a playground for children to attract more parents to bring their kids here, so it's not too boring for the little ones. Overall, it's a good hotel.

2nd time visit this year. Love the location but the best is the staff who were all friendly. Maybe because of school holidays and company trips, the hotel was full occupancy. Long queue for breakfast and things were not replenished or breaking down. The next day when they left was much better. That said, still have to give my praises to the staff who worked extra hard during peak period

The hotel's location is convenient, with a large shopping mall nearby and several other big malls for shopping, plus plenty of dining options. However, the room size is relatively small, the lighting is a bit dim, and the soundproofing is average – you can hear the flushing sounds from next door. I hope they can improve this. Also, the breakfast selection isn't very extensive.

We stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for 5 nights. The hotel is between two shopping malls - Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. Excellent location. Another hotel nearby (about 400m) is G Hotel Gurney. Both the hotels' guests are given the option to use each other's facilities and guests are given the flexibility to have their breakfast at either hotel without any advanced notice. By the way, G Hotel Gurney is the older hotel and is directly connected to Gurney Plaza, whereas G Hotel Kelawai is less crowded and quieter, which we liked. The breakfast variety is acceptable for guests who are on a short stay. Out of curiosity, we wanted to try out the breakfast at G Hotel Gurney but were prevented from doing so because of the heavy rain. Upon request, hotel guests can commute between the two by the hotels' buggy. The 25-m swimming pool and gym in Kelawai were hardly used. Clean and well-maintained rooms.

The hotel is great, staff are impeccable in their attentiveness to the guest. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was absolutely outstanding, with an abundance of choices catered to satisfy every taste. The pool and gym are also fantastic, with the added convenience of being open 24/7, to put in an early morning workout. Spacious and very well equipped and maintained. However, our stay was not without faults and there are definitely some things management needs to address: - the noise from the elevator automatic announcements is absurd! the ”doors opening/closing” alerts are constant and audible from neighboring floors as well as your own.If you stay in a room numbered xx15 or xx16, be advised you will not have a pleasant time - we asked to change rooms immediately as soon as we realized this. - elevators can be SLOW, magma slow. it can take a long time to move around if you are staying in a higher floor. We stayed for 2 nights and during that period 2 separate elevators were down for maintenance. It took us a total of 15 minutes to move from one floor to the other, after getting our room changed (for reasons stated above) and new keycards. - the level from street noise audible in the room is just inadmissible at a supposed 5-star hotel level, at least in the rooms facing the main road. These rooms have, inexplicably, a single pane of glass and very tall windows, which makes soundproofing pretty much nonexistent - mat rempit bikes racing in the dead of night, the call to prayer blasting from the loudspeakers of the mosque nearby before 6am, drilling from the construction site nearby, and other nuisances that definitely disturbed my sleep.

Staying at The Royale Chulan Penang at the end of the year, I was immediately struck by the hotel's exquisite environment. But the most memorable part of this trip was the warmth provided by a lobby staff member named Devika. Her fluent Mandarin made communication effortless. From the thoughtful guidance during check-in to her meticulous assistance when I checked out on December 13th, everything made me feel incredibly comfortable. Before I left, she proactively helped me call a taxi and confirmed the vehicle details; these thoughtful gestures alleviated the fatigue of travel. ”Malaysian Hospitality” is not just a slogan in Malaysia; it's a genuine sentiment that Devika embodied through her actions. This warm service added an invaluable memory to my trip to Penang. She speaks Chinese and provided exceptionally good and attentive service.
