Recently we stayed at Mercure Penang Beach and had an enjoyable experience overall.
The cleanliness of the room was satisfactory, and the general tidiness was acceptable. However, the hotel could improve the condition and maintenance of the carpets and flooring to enhance the overall guest experience.
The amenities provided were adequate and met basic expectations. One aspect that stood out was the room service team, who delivered excellent service throughout my stay. Kudos to the staff for their professionalism and responsiveness.
The room TV setup could be improved. Many modern hotels now offer Google TV or Android TV, which provide a better entertainment experience and more viewing options for guests.
The swimming pool is great for children and families. However, I would suggest relocating the shower area closer to the pool entrance. Currently, it is located quite far away, which may discourage guests from showering before entering the pool.
One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its location. Guests have direct access to the beach, making it an excellent choice for beach activities and seaside relaxation.
The breakfast selection was impressive, offering a wide variety of choices. The food was also tasty and enjoyable, making breakfast one of the highlights of the stay.
The main area that requires improvement is the parking facility, which could be better organized and more convenient for guests.
Overall, Mercure Penang Beach offers a pleasant stay with excellent room service, a good family-friendly pool, direct beach access, and a great breakfast spread. With improvements to the TV system, pool shower location, flooring condition, and parking facilities, the guest experience could be even better.
The hotel was near to eateries and some malls but the malls are not the ‘high end’ type. Almost all the food options in the mall are Muslim friendly.
Hotel service was good but we didn’t make use of their facilities such as the swimming pool and gym.
The breakfast buffet was not really fantastic as the food is almost the same daily and not very tasty.. quite disappointing for a 4-star hotel under Shangri-La group.
The room is quite spacious but toilet is a bit small.
Water pressure from toilet bowl flushing was strong and noisy and water will start splashing around if we don’t close the toilet seat.
The journey to hotel from airport is about 25-30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Overall I would suggest staying at Gurney area instead of this area as the food options are better at Gurney.
We stayed in Ansgana wing one bedroom suite. It's born with a magnificent Seaview but unfortunately obscured by the hotel layout like the balcony concrete egde at living room and the missing of curtain binder to gain 5-10% of Seaview. The sofa and TV are setup by the window side both at the living room and bed room but during day time the sunshine is so strong that you have to draw the curtain if you want to watch TV but at the same time your completely lose the view. The breakfast buffet offered were standard and I have no comment but the only obervation is the crows are the only diehard fans of the hotel food as they tried their best effort to grab the food from the table even in front of the guests! The only element that made our stay a good one is the hotel staff. Starting from Cika who handled our check in, our room attendant Masum, the big and tall guy at the buffet restaurant and also the lady who took care of our check out. All of them were efficient and effectively attending and responding to guests needs and tried their best effort to help us during our stay and kindly send my compliment to them especially Masum. Thank you Masum you deserves to be praised. Well done! Ansgana management in reading it's your team that saved your position that still got a 5 points except the food! In conclusion Ansgana tried to pack herself as a resort but quite unsuccessful as after check out we headed to Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and you will experience the layback and relax feel in a resort!
Excellent, excellent, excellent! The facilities are complete and well-equipped, the environment is elegant, and the service is attentive. The surrounding amenities are also comprehensive. The front desk service was thoughtful and meticulous, and the breakfast was clean, hygienic, and plentiful. Uh.
Easy to check in, very very clean, location is the best in town and host is also very responsive. View is amazing and this unit provide very complete amenities unless for the washing machine. Me and my mom had a very spectacular experience staying here and this is our first staying in macalister 22. Hope the price wont rise and we still can go back in our next visit. Definitely will recommend this unit to my friends and family. #32-16
Although we only needed a one bedroom apartment, we booked a two bedroom as that was all that was available at the time. We were really looking forward to having some space after spending the last couple of weeks in hotel rooms, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were offered a 3 bedroom apartment as none of the two bedrooms were ready. It was fabulous, lots of space and way up on the 32nd floor which makes for quite the view. Great place, the pool was fantastic and it's in a great location with a small beach out front (note this is not walkable at high tide).
Thing that could be better is a few more supplies/furnishings. Although we had a balcony, there were no tables or chairs for outside (we did ask but nothing was available) and although we had dishes and cutlery for 6 people there was only one medium sized frying pan and one medium sized saucepan, which made for some creative cooking. But we would go back again especially for a longer stay.
The Amari SPICE Penang is a standout choice for travelers seeking a sleek, contemporary stay directly connected to the island's premier convention center and near the airport. Its rooms are impressively bright and spacious, offering high-end comfort and modern tech amenities that cater perfectly to both business guests and families. While the location in Bayan Lepas is a bit far from the historic charm of George Town, the hotel compensates with a spectacular rooftop pool and a diverse, high-quality breakfast spread. Ultimately, it is the best-in-class option for those prioritizing convenience and modern luxury over proximity to the heritage district.
The room is spacious! It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a laundry room! There's a supermarket in the B1 lobby, and a night market nearby, making it convenient for both food and accommodation. The security staff are very friendly! The hotel also has a free swimming pool and gym facilities.
The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (also known as The Blue Mansion) boasts an excellent location in George Town's historic district. Right across the street are the Clan Jetties, and there are countless historical buildings nearby, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. What truly stands out is the hotel staff; they are exceptionally polite and attentive. The hotel itself is an old heritage building, so the facilities are a little dated, but they are very well-maintained. The rooms are cleaned immaculately every day, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of choices to suit most tastes. For this area, it offers fantastic value for money.
There is no sufficient space for guests drop off and pick up and for if there are two to three cars the area before hotel will be messed up and stuck together! The enclosed captured screen from goggle map is self explanatory !
Every morning commencing 8:00 am to 09:00am there will be large trolleys outside the rooms and on upper floors transferring towels and other amenities around and the sound like you are sitting by the railway while the trains are crossing which was rather annoying. You will hear staff talking or chatting together and the metallic service door slamming during that period.
Most interesting is every day the housekeeping has left souvenirs to us. The first day was a toilet brush and the second day was a cigarette lighter.
Last but not the least when we approached the concierge to get the luggages while the car was waiting just outside the hotel main door the bell boy asked my wife to move the luggages by herself and the distance was only 3 meters away!

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult
GGuest UserThe check-in process took an excessively long time, with waiting times exceeding one hour due to the large crowd. The hotel management should consider improving the check-in procedure to ensure guests do not have to wait for such an extended period.
In addition, the check-out time of 11:00 a.m. is quite early, and the hotel was unable to provide any flexibility for a slightly later check-out, despite guests having to endure a lengthy wait during check-in.
Furthermore, we found a rove beetle (commonly known as “Charlie ant”) in our hotel room, which raised concerns regarding room cleanliness and guest comfort.
Overall, we hope the hotel will take these matters into consideration and make improvements to enhance the guest experience.
GGuest UserI was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area .
The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this .
Now , I wait for my toe to heal .

SStevenvaFacilities: The facilities and equipment are quite old-fashioned, like the door handles, faucets, and switches, but they all work perfectly and have a great sense of history.
Cleanliness: The hygiene was excellent. Housekeeping even came in the mornings to offer fresh towels and drinking water.
Environment: The environment is beyond words. I think it's the best and quietest area in George Town, right by the sea. The sunrises and sunsets were incredibly relaxing.
Service: As soon as the taxi pulled up to the hotel, a doorman was there to greet us, help with luggage, and check us in. The front desk staff spoke multiple languages, making check-in very smooth. Our luggage was quickly brought to our room by a doorman. The F&B staff were all very warm and attentive.
This time, I stayed in the Deluxe Heritage Wing Suite, which was incredibly comfortable. Highly recommend!

AAnonymous UserFrom check-in on day one to my final departure, my entire experience was absolutely fantastic! First off, the location is super convenient, whether you're walking or taking a taxi, to reach popular attractions and trendy restaurants. The front desk had staff who spoke Mandarin, which was a huge plus, and the view from the hotel window was simply incredible. The facilities are great! What really stood out was how quick the elevators were – no waiting at all, which made things so convenient. Plus, every time I returned to the hotel, someone was there to open the door for me; they were very polite and friendly. Ordering food delivery was also really easy.
GGuest UserTHE MOST AMAZING HOTE I HAVE EVER STAYED IN 10/10
1. Hotel Locaiton: Perfect as its not in the city and by the beach, amazing for relaxation. Hotel is surrounded by souvenir shops and street food. 10miute walk from Ferringhi Walk where there is a nice selection of street food but my favourite of all is that its just a 2 minute walk from my favorite restaurant in Malaysia, Ferringhi Garden. Penang trip isnt complete without going to Ferringhi Garden. Its an amazing restaurant with the most beautiful collection of plants, there is no other place like it in Malaysia.
2. The Hotel: Nothing bad to say about it. The design, the decor, everything about this hotel makes me want to stay there even longer. Its such a nice feeling being there. Facilities are clean and complete.
3. The Room: CLEAN. NICE. SPACIOUS. BEAUTIFUL. Every inch of the room is to my liking, i could not have asked for more. Mattress is thick and oh so comfortable. Aircond was cold. Room was very spacious.
4.The Buffet: The room came with breakfast for 2 and it was the perfect buffet to start each day with. Selection was incredible even better than a lot of buffet Ramadan Ive been to. They had everything from selections of breads, to nasi lemak with 12 different sambals, 5 different meat dishes to eat it with, assorted fruits, assorted cheeses, 2 types of porridge with the FULL suites of condiments, salads, pastries, roti canai with all the curries you will ever need, to your above average selection of continental breakfast menus like, beef bacon, beef and chicken sausages, hash browns, deli meats, smoked fish. And there is more! there is a made-to-order menu which many patrons are not aware of. I tried the minute steak and it was good!(pictured below)
PS: Hakimi from breakfast service was spectacular, I requested strawberries for my picky 2 year old and he delivered. On the other hand, ANIS FROM THE OMELETTE STATION WAS RUDE TO MY WIFE, SHE NEEDS TO IMPROVE HER SOCIAL SKILLS(this is my one and only complain)
Overall my stay was 10/10 and this will be the ONLY hotel i will be staying at if when im at Batu Ferringhi. I plan to go to Park Royal Batu Ferringhi Annually, its just that good!
AAnonymous UserThe check-in process was smooth and efficient. The room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable, making for a pleasant stay. The only area for improvement would be the shower drainage, which appeared to have some issues during my stay. Overall, my first stay experience was satisfactory, and I enjoyed the comfort and hospitality provided.
