Haf LuqOverall, the hotel is good, especially because of its convenient location near a shopping mall, making it easy to purchase daily necessities and other items. The breakfast café is spacious and offers a wide variety of food choices.
However, there are a few areas that could be improved. While the breakfast selection is extensive, the taste of the food was somewhat disappointing and could be enhanced. In addition, the cleanliness of the room needs more attention. The floor felt dusty, as if it had not been properly swept or vacuumed. Guests who are not comfortable wearing the hotel slippers may notice the dust more easily.
With improvements to room cleanliness and food quality, the overall guest experience would be much better.

Michelle JThis is the first time I've experienced ”wasting time” not as a derogatory term. Here, both your mind and the days slow down, not just because Tanjung Aru boasts the most beautiful sunsets, but because of every plant, every service within the hotel, and the meeting of the ocean with Shangri-La, which collectively created an unforgettable experience for us. I highly recommend the ground floor patio rooms, where the balcony leads directly to the lawn! You can witness one of the world's top three sunsets and the iconic Sunset Bar. I loved the peaceful mornings here, listening to the sea breeze on a lounge chair and watching seagulls glide over the ocean. In the evenings, there's none of the hustle and bustle of the public beach, only melodious songs, paired with a margarita, truly allowing time to slow down. I suggest staying for at least 5 nights; if you're lucky, you might even catch a unique event. The hotel's Chinese restaurant is highly recommended; it leans towards Cantonese cuisine, with prices being mid-to-high, but it definitely satisfies Chinese palates.

Guest UserThe location is super close to the ferry terminal. Downstairs, right across the street, there's a KFC, Starbucks, and 7-Eleven, which is really convenient. The front desk staff were very patient. The only drawback is that the room is a bit old-fashioned. However, the hotel's exterior looks upscale and grand.

Guest UserThe room was simple and clean, and although the decor was a bit old-fashioned, the location was excellent. However, rooms facing the street were indeed quite noisy. It's very close to the pier, directly opposite a large shopping mall, and right next to Gaya Street... super convenient for everything.

Guest UserTaking the hotel shuttle from the city to the hotel and then to the airport was super convenient and saved money. The staff didn't really speak Chinese, but their broken English was good enough. The first room they gave me on the 1st floor was really disappointing – small, dark, and the bathroom even had a shower curtain! I've never seen a hotel still using a shower curtain! I immediately went to the front desk to change rooms. The room on the 4th floor was a huge improvement, otherwise, my whole vacation would have been ruined. Other service details were great, and the staff were all very friendly. You can order set meals by the pool; 3 sets and 2 drinks for 224 MYR seemed reasonable. How much bleach did they put in the pool though? You couldn't see your hand in front of your face… Any pool in Sanya has better visibility than that! It's fine for a pure holiday, with palm trees, shadows, and gazebos for lounging.

Guest UserWe stayed here for two nights on a family trip. The location was excellent; we could walk to shopping malls and restaurants, which was very convenient. The staff were friendly, and check-in and check-out were smooth. The room, pool, and gym were kept clean, making for a comfortable stay. While we felt the breakfast could have had a bit more variety, overall, we were very satisfied and consider this hotel to offer great value for money. We would definitely like to stay here again when we visit Kota Kinabalu.

Naddyrah84Hyatt Regency Kinabalu — a stay worth having! ✨🌴
Loved the location—super convenient and easily accessible, with Gaya Street Market and the Api-Api Night Market just nearby. The hotel staff were prompt, warm and polite, making the stay even more enjoyable. 💕
And the breakfast spread? Plenty of choices and a great way to start the day! 🍳🥐☕️

Guest UserWe landed at Kota Kinabalu Airport on August 3rd morning and arrived at the hotel just before 9:30 AM. We were greeted by a front desk attendant near the office door. The standard check-in time is 3:00 PM, and she informed us we were early. When we asked if we could check in early, she actually found a room for us after checking – seriously, kudos to her! We had booked the flights at the last minute and then the hotel, so we thought, especially for peak season and at this price, the room might be subpar. But it was much better than expected.
Pros: Excellent location. The hotel is within walking distance of Kota Kinabalu Central Market, Gaya Street, and Durian Street. If you don't mind the sun, you can even walk to DBKK Jetty (we took a taxi from the hotel lobby to DBKK Jetty for about 8 RMB, which is roughly 1.70 USD). The room was also quite clean; we booked a twin room with an exterior window. The hotel has a laundry room and a pool on the 6th floor. The washing machine and dryer each cost one coin, and one coin is only 10 MYR. Washing and drying together were cheaper than getting a single item dry-cleaned in China! The laundry detergent pods provided by the hotel also did a good job. Drying only took 50 minutes, and the clothes came out fluffy – it made me want to buy an LG commercial washer and dryer when I got back home.
Cons: There was a musty smell from the elevator on our floor to the room itself, but thankfully, the room had no odor. On the first night, after hardly sleeping due to the flight from China, I slept very well at the hotel. However, on the second night, around 4 or 5 AM, I heard someone singing outside on the street – a solo male voice, and it went on for quite a while, so I didn't sleep too well.

Guest UserGreat location, with a rich breakfast spread. Downstairs there's a mall, and the subway is right outside. Our room had a direct view of the Twin Towers at night. Check-out was also smooth; originally, our booking only included breakfast for two adults, but when they saw we had a child with us, they let our little one enjoy breakfast for free without any fuss!
