The room was quite big, the breakfast was good, and the restaurant next to it was delicious. It is a good choice as a hotel that catches an early flight for one night. The surrounding shops are also complete.
The room was very clean and large. We arrived later than dinner time and communicated with the hotel staff in advance, and they still left us a sumptuous dinner. The breakfast was delicious and the front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming
Even during the busy winter holiday season, I was able to have a comfortable stay without any mistakes.
I was able to eat the most delicious breakfast in Norway, which is unique to Norway. It was well-balanced, but it was really delicious, so be careful not to eat too much 😊
In the evening, it takes time when group check-ins overlap, but it's okay, they are efficient and everything went smoothly.
The room is equipped with a kettle and refrigerator, which is convenient.
This hotel is especially good value for money for travelers from Asia and travelers from all over the world. There are really many different languages spoken here.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of October 2025, and I have to mention that I saw the Northern Lights from the hotel lobby rooftop both nights! There's a supermarket right next to the hotel that even sells sashimi-grade salmon. The room view was also beautiful, and the hotel lobby offers panoramic views, which was fantastic! We walked to and from the airport; the weather was good then, and it took about 20 minutes with our large suitcases.
I recently stayed at Thon Hotel Polar in Tromsø and it was overall a great experience! The hotel is located in the city center, very close to the airport bus station, surrounded by many restaurants and convenience stores, and within walking distance to many attractions such as the Aurora Museum and the pier. The location is quite convenient.
Although the room is not big, it is clean and tidy, fully equipped, and the bed is very comfortable, providing me with a warm resting space in the cold winter. The floor heating design in the bathroom is a big plus, and you won’t feel cold at all when taking a shower. The breakfast provided by the hotel is very rich and varied, including fresh bread, smoked salmon, eggs, cereals and a variety of hot drinks, allowing people to start their journey every day with energy.
The service staff are very friendly and are always happy to provide local tourist information. They will even help to check the aurora forecast, which is impressive. Overall, Thon Hotel Polar is an excellent accommodation choice when traveling to Tromsø, with high CP value, and is recommended to travelers who want convenient and comfortable accommodation!
Conveniently located, walking distance to Arctic cathedral. Breakfast is excellent and very good spread . The front desk staff on 4 Oct early afternoon morning is extremely helpful. The Bristol staff whom I have placed order for early breakfast has forgotten to register my order and this front desk gentleman is kindly to help and give me the breakfast in time for my departure.
Location is quite convenient, at the corner of the central street and has good view of Tromso from the rooftop (not so much my room).
Room appears spacious, there is additional chair and bench. However, I find it hard to use the space. There is no space to open my luggage fully unless it is on the bench. There are only 3 rather shallow hooks in the room. I ended up hanging both my jackets (which overlaps since the hooks are close to each other) and my towel but there is no more space to hang anything else! And no proper wardrobe as the “wardrobe” has dividers so it looks more like a shoe cabinet. I’m a solo traveller booking a double room, I cannot imagine if there was one more person in this space.
The room wasn't huge, but it was perfectly adequate for our needs. We booked a sea-view room on the highest floor, the 10th. The two large windows offered a truly stunning view, with distant snow-capped mountains and city lights clearly visible.
Downstairs, the lobby provides complimentary tea and coffee. Conveniently, there's also a Best Arctic office right next to the lobby. We booked all three of our day tours there, and the departure point was very close to the hotel. All in all, the location is excellent and incredibly convenient.
Check-in was a bit slow, so be prepared to be patient.
The hotel is outdated and is scheduled to be refurbished in 2025 or 2026.
The lobby is ”super” small with no design theme (for what that matters).
My room was small and poorly laid-out...plus, the bed was so soft it was uncomfortable and I knew my back would suffer, so I placed the thin topper on the floor and slept on that.
Once housekeeping left at the end of the day you could not obtain extra blankets or pillows...all I had was one small, rectangular pillow....I did not get a good sleep!
The gym could only be accessed by climbing a narrow, winding set of stairs...I never got there.
The front office staff was amazing...so pleasant and accommodating....despite all the demands placed on them.
I was thankful I was only staying for 1 night.
This hotel is at the waterfront right in the center of town. It offers excellent value! Afternoon tea, buffet dinner, breakfast and free tea/coffee all day are included in the price. There's a sauna on the 5th floor together with a small gym. A jacuzzi is available for a small fee. Bus 42 from the airport stops just behind the hotel so it's less than a min walk to the reception. The staff are friendly. The room is clean and quite spacious. Best value in town! I'll definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this apartment. The room was exceptionally well-equipped, offering amenities that even higher-end hotels often lack. The property is well-maintained and conveniently located near a supermarket, bus stop, and shopping street.
I was so impressed that I even looked for the same property in other cities such as Copenhagen and Oslo.
My only minor inconvenience was that the main lobby opens at 10 a.m., which made early check-out slightly difficult as we had to carry our luggage up from the basement.

AAnonymous UserTromsø isn't a large city overall, and the location is excellent. It's just a few minutes' walk to the northernmost McDonald's, Burger King, Kiwi Extra supermarket, and more. I highly recommend choosing a room with breakfast; it's really good. The room is a bit small, but that's typical for accommodations here.
