Very good motels in the town. Everything was completed and very comfortable. The owner was quite friendly . We got the ground floor room, and the car was Juz parked infront of the room. Super convenient.
This is the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in on a trip, though I guess I haven't really stayed in many fancy places, haha. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and gave excellent tips. The bellboy delivered our luggage right to the door, which was a nice touch. You have to take a boat to get to town; it costs $10 per trip with a card, which is a bit pricey, but it was a unique way to travel. Because it's a bit far from the town center, it's very quiet at night with minimal light pollution. You can step outside and see the stars, and the pool is great. The room itself was fantastic, though the lighting was a little dim. The bathroom was spacious.
The room was very clean. The parking lot has a limited number of spaces, only 14 in total, so it's best to reserve one in advance. Parking in the surrounding area isn't convenient, but you can park on the street overnight.
Thus hotels most appealing benefit is its location. It’s a short walk to the octagon, historical railway station and the excellent (and free admission) Pioneer Museum. It’s a short is also only a couple of streets from George Street which has lots of shopping and restaurants. A block away is a large supermarket for groceries. The room size is adequate with a fridge and kettle. The carpet could use a good cleaning. The main issue was with the shower. It has no enclosure and although the floor is sloped towards the drain we had to put towels around the floor to stop water from running everywhere. The towels and bath mat naturally got soaked. For the price and location I would recommend this hotel if you are. It looking for anything upscale.
Walking distance to the remarkable market ( every Saturday only ). The room very clean n bed very comfortable with two pillows - one soft n firm. Short drive to the town Centre with good food n shopping. Will here again..
Over all the room was clean and the bed comfy
Short on tea bags and outside light stays on all night that needs a sensor light or a black out curtain on the door
Toilet seat is loose but everything was clean the service staff do a fantastic job thanks
Over all we gave it a 8 /10
Our stay was absolutely perfect. The stunning scenery speaks for itself, truly like living inside a postcard. But what really elevated the experience was the hotel's service: the staff were always smiling, greeted us proactively, and the room cleaning was meticulous. Any issues we had were resolved quickly. This attention to detail and thoughtful service, combined with the enchanting environment, significantly enhanced our overall happiness during the stay. Highly recommended.
It's about a 10-minute walk to the town center, but the big advantage here is the convenient parking – parking is usually the biggest hassle in Queenstown. Most hotels in New Zealand have a check-out time around 10:00 AM, but if you talk to them, you can usually extend it to 11:00 AM.
This hotel truly makes you want to stay for a long time. I absolutely love the room's decor – it's simple, cozy, yet luxurious. My favorite part was the fireplace in the room; its heating function was really powerful, and the flames looked so real. After turning it on, the room became wonderfully warm and comfortable. All the other amenities in the room were also complete, like a washing machine, dryer, and in the kitchen, a dishwasher and oven, even though I didn't get to use them. Most importantly, the view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. The balcony itself is very spacious, extending from the living room to the bedroom. I later found out that directly opposite us was Rokuen Kogen, with snow-capped mountains, a lake view, and charming little houses – a perfect picturesque scene. The room was also very clean. Parking is free and convenient; after checking in at the front desk, they'll tell you which floor of the parking garage to use. A staff member will even be waiting in the parking lot to help with luggage and show you to your room, explaining the facilities. As for breakfast, the offerings were pretty standard, nothing particularly special, though you could order additional fried eggs. The restaurant also boasts a beautiful lake view.
This hotel is very close to the city center, making it convenient to go anywhere. There's also parking right outside the hotel entrance, which is great for travelers with cars. The rooms have a lovely artistic feel, and the outdoor spaces are also filled with an artistic atmosphere. I loved it!
The hotel is on the slope at the end of George Street, overlooking Dunedin. The appearance is small and fresh, and the inside is exquisite. It is so clean. Kitchenware, tableware, washing machine and dryer are all available. The superior one-bedroom room has a large bed + a single bed, especially suitable for a family of three.

Very Good
GGuest UserNice location, near Queenstown Airport. Parking is available FOC on 1st come 1st served basis. Washing machine and dryer makes it easy to wash clothes after long day traveling
HHuobatuThe hotel environment is particularly good, the proprietress is a Chinese sister, especially good, give me milk, it is very quiet, and very close to the scenic spot, there is a McDonald's and gas station ten meters away, there is a fish and chips 100 meters away, and the Chinese are also delicious but not friendly. In short, the hotel is very clean, the location is good, convenient and fast, parking is very convenient
MMonica MartesanoThe view from our room was amazing. However, there was a beam in the room that obstructed the perfect shot, which made the pictures look annoying. The bed was quite dusty, with dust particles visible on the white linens. Additionally, the room was very small, and the online photos were misleading. The toilet was not clean, the room service only replaced the bath towels on the second day and did not perform basic dusting or vacuuming, which is expected in a hotel setting, not an Airbnb. Overall, the view was the only aspect that made our stay enjoyable.

::))We were thrilled to be the very first guests to leave a review for this stunning new resort! The location is fantastic, just a quick 10-minute drive to town, and our room offered breathtaking views of the Shot River, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere.
We arrived around 10 PM, and the hotel reception was impeccably prepared, warmly welcoming us and even upgrading our room! It looked exactly like the photos, with a design and interior that perfectly captured the vibe we were seeking. They had welcome drinks waiting for us, and we appreciated that milk was available on request at any time.
The breakfast was a delightful a la carte experience, featuring an array of delicious options. The serving staff was not only attentive and kind but also provided excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants!
We also indulged in room service, which exceeded our expectations in both taste and punctuality. Although the fitness room and movie room were still under construction, the small maintenance issue we encountered in the bathroom was addressed swiftly by the staff.
Our stay has left us eager to return and see the final results of this new gem. I highly recommend this resort to everyone!
GGuest UserThe hotel boasts an excellent location, just a two-minute walk from the lake. The service was attentive; they helped store our luggage and even brought it up to our room. While the room facilities aren't brand new, they are well-maintained and complete. It's perfect for guests who want to step right out and enjoy the scenic views.
__WeChat38293****The hotel is not far from the intercity bus station, but you have to climb two hills, one of which is quite steep and long. The cleanliness was acceptable; I didn't experience the issues mentioned in other reviews. I stayed for three nights. For two nights, I was at the end of the 2nd-floor hallway, and the soundproofing was very poor; I could hear traffic passing by all night. For one night, I stayed on the 3rd floor in a room a bit further from the end, and it was very quiet at night. The kitchen is well-equipped with pots, bowls, and cutlery, and there's a microwave, oven, kettle, dish soap, and dishcloths.
GGuest UserThe person at reception was an Indian wearing a turban. I'm not sure if it was discrimination against Chinese people, but they gave us a room in the furthest, most secluded corner. The signal was also very poor; streaming videos was constantly buffering. All the pillows were incredibly high, making it feel like you'd get a stiff neck from sleeping on them. It was a very bad experience. Plus, it seems the hotel doesn't have a shuttle bus to town, so getting around is very inconvenient if you don't have a car. It's a 40-minute walk to town, and it's uphill and downhill.

PPang Cheng HianI recently stayed at Scenic Hotel Southern Cross and had a very pleasant experience. One of the biggest highlights of this hotel is its excellent location – it's within walking distance to many of Dunedin's main attractions, including the Railway Station, Baldwin Street (the world’s steepest street), and Queen’s Gardens. Whether you're in town for sightseeing or just want convenient access to key places, this hotel is ideally situated.
The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making the entire stay hassle-free. The room was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring the city.
Another plus is the on-site hotel parking, which is a great convenience, especially in a central location like this.
Overall, I’d recommend Scenic Hotel Southern Cross for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel in Dunedin with friendly service and all the essentials covered.
