The hotel is located not far from the airport and is even within walking distance. A taxi ride costs no more than $5–$10. However, if you take the direct route on foot via the main road, you have to pass through a small slum area; while this might seem a bit off-putting at first, it does not feel unsafe or intrusive. First of all, there is nothing fun in East Timor. It is relatively scarce in terms of tourism resources, transportation is not convenient, and prices are relatively high. Then as for the hotel, it is just so-so, a bit like the guesthouses in China. The facilities are relatively old and the business is relatively small. There are no slippers in the room, and you don’t have to bring your own toothbrush or other toiletries. There is no free mineral water, only bottled water service, which can only be said to be make do. The free breakfast is relatively small. It may be because it is closer to the airport and the transportation is more convenient. The infrastructure of the whole East Timor is really poor.
