Wow, this place is really great and offers excellent value for money. The facilities are top-notch, and the other guests are very polite and respectful of personal space. The staff here are some of the best English speakers I've encountered in Egypt. They were incredibly caring and thoughtful when I asked them to help me communicate with locals. One lady even helped me loosely plan my itinerary for the next few days. I'd definitely love to come back and stay in one of their private rooms if I get the chance.
Our experience was GREAT. It is ranked as a hostel but it felt like a hotel. Private room was spacious with bed, sofa, wardrobe and private bathroom. Very clean. And the staff was beyond kind, a young team running the place both profesional and close. A special thanks to Wafaa, Asmaa and Ala - they made our trip to Cairo very special and if we return, it will be to the same place
Location: Right next to the Egyptian Museum. The exterior looks a bit rundown, but the room was quite spacious. Service & Facilities: The front desk staff were very welcoming. If you pre-order breakfast, they'll deliver it to your room.
I stayed in the dorm which comes with an en-suite bathroom, A/C, comfy beds, bedside light & power socket. The hostel is very clean and I absolutely loved their roof top terrace. Huge shout out to their staff, super friendly, helpful and professional
Originally a three-bed room, the result said that there was no room type, so it was arranged, one large and one small twin room. The bathroom facilities are very broken, the lights are not bright, the rain shower is bad, but fortunately, I will stay for one night. But the waiter is good and the attitude is OK.
A stay at Swisstay Downtown Cairo places you in the heart of Cairo, within a 10-minute walk of Tahrir Square and Egyptian Museum. This hostel is 10.5 mi (16.9 km) from Giza Pyramid Complex and 10.6 mi (17.1 km) from Grand Egyptian Museum.
Make use of convenient amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access, shopping on site, and a television in a common area.
Enjoy a meal at the restaurant or snacks in the hostel's coffee shop/cafe. Mingle with other guests at the complimentary reception, held daily. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. A complimentary local cuisine breakfast is served daily from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
Make yourself at home in one of the 12 guestrooms, featuring kitchens with ovens and stovetops. Rooms have private furnished balconies or patios. 65-inch Smart televisions with satellite programming provide entertainment, while complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected. Conveniences include microwaves, housekeeping is provided daily, and irons/ironing boards can be requested.
At the reception, the man explained to us that if we book a more expensive room, there would be a shower in the room. We booked it right in front of him, but he gave us a room without a shower. We argued for a long time and then gave in. He misinformed us. The floor in the room was dirty, which we didn't like either.
The Wi-Fi wasn't super fast, but the hot water worked, and for just sleeping there, it was perfectly fine. However, there was some kind of construction noise starting around 9 AM which was a bit bothersome.
The hostel is a welcome respite from the chaos of Cairo. Note that there are two floors, 1 and 4, but are connected by a vintage elevator as well as a stairwell. Breakfast provided each day was sincerely appreciated and delicious, made fresh for each person. The beds are comfortable and equipped with a small light and a power outlet to charge your devices. There is a common area to hang out with others and meet people. Some of the fittings are broken in the bathrooms but you will get by fine.
The hotel is conveniently located. The room itself is neat and quite spacious: there is a refrigerator (it doesn't make noise), a kettle, mugs, tea itself, a table and two chairs, a wardrobe, and a spacious but empty balcony. The bed is comfortable, the bed linen is clean. Compact bathroom, good towels. The only downside: Egyptians love to honk and do it constantly, you can't fall asleep with the window closed, and even with it closed it's not easy. The hotel is located in a solid, old building with a small elevator.

AAnonymous UserIn general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights.
Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building.
* Location & Transportation
Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum.
And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price.
In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes
Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones.
Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it.
* Building and room conditions
Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room.
It is quite convenient a washstand in each room.
However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler.
It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel.
* Cleanness & Safety
Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this.
* Services
There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water.
Wifi is too weak to use the internet.
Other services like laundry are satisfied.
* Others
During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally.
In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better.
And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable.
Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.

GGuest UserWhen we arrived, it was a little difficult to find the building, because there was no sign of Lucky Hostel in the lobby. However a very persistent man outside, insisted that the building with sign “El otel”, is the correct building. We trust him and we entered. Another problem, it looked like to use the elevator to 4th floor, we must have access card. We wait for about 5 minutes and fortunately there was a man came down, and we asked his help to tap on the elevator using his card. Other than that, my husband & I were happy to stay in this hostel. Our room was so big and with sofa too!! Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Hot shower was very pleasant in cold morning. And we were very happy that the staff allow us to put our luggage while we were away to Luxor. We stay for total of 4 nights and we were allowed again to put our luggage while we went shopping, because our flight was in the middle of the night.

IImpulsive TravellerThe location is at city center nearby to Egyptian Museum. Plenty of amenities within 10 minutes walk. The famed Koshary Abu Tarek is within 6 minutes walk. The rooms are well maintained. There is a staff at the reception 24/7. Guests of all ages and nationalities can be accomodated.
Suggestion for improvement:
1. The towels to be issued upon check-in and not upon request.
2. The lift need to be upgraded as I was ever caught inside when there is a power trip. And often the lift did not operate because the lift door was not closed properly. Understand that the lift is not manage by your hostel. Please request for it from the building owner as it is not acceptable.
3. Consider centralized air condition system. Anyone can turn off the air conditioner affecting others.
GGuest UserThe hotel is quite close to the Egyptian museum,
The facility is okay - The place is quite old but clean.
The hotel staff here are very nice especially Mr Anas he was quite energetic and really looking forward to service + friendly
I didn't expect that he was invites me to the lunch together with them
** note** for someone who cannot sleep with the noise - the hotel is quite close to the Egyptian Street which is always honking the horn.
Solution ** ust bring an earplug ( The one that you would receive on in airplane ) and everything's gonna be fine
In conclusion this hotel is reasonably priced for this quality. if you don't expect for something luxury but friendly , This hotel could be your choice
GGuest UserIn the old city of Cairo, the 12th floor is a hotel with a rooftop garden. It is very tasteful to see the whole city of Cairo. It is very quiet, the light is well blocked, and it is very good to rest! It is about a 10-minute walk from the Egyptian Museum, which is very convenient! The boss is very good. You can store your suitcase after checking out. Go and pick it up after you have fun!

CCengleiStayed for three days, and the scenery in Greece is truly breathtaking. Just a short walk brings you to the famous cliff attractions, it's incredibly dreamy and therapeutic! If I ever need to, I'll definitely come back. The staff were very enthusiastic, and laundry service was free.
