Excellent location and really nice people. The breakfast area is on the rooftop, and you can even cook your own meals. They also offer free noodles, some vegetables, and fruits. I'd definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

Guest UserThe hotel is located in a quiet residential area. Its location is quite good. It takes about ten minutes by bus to reach the central tourist area. Just a minute's walk away is a supermarket. Shopping is very convenient there. But it should close at 8:30 p.m., if I remember correctly. The room was very large, and it was one of the few independent-bed hotels that I had stayed in. The front desk service was excellent. I don't know about the conditions of other rooms, but the door of the toilet in my room couldn't be locked properly; fortunately, it could still be closed. The bathroom had no hooks and the drainage was a bit blocked. If these two issues were improved, the overall accommodation experience would be perfect. Overall, it is worth recommending.

I had a really pleasant stay at Free Hostels Roma. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help, which made the experience even better. The service was smooth and well-organized, and everything felt comfortable and welcoming.
Overall, it was a great place to stay, especially for travelers looking for a friendly atmosphere and good service. I would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again.

Guest UserThis is the cheapest hotel with walking distance to The Colosseum. The downside is that the rooms don't have keys, so anyone can get in, albeit unlikely. The locker is outside the room and you have to bring your own padlock, so keeping your belongings would be tricky. But hey, I assume if you book this hotel you won't bring a lot of things, so all things considered, this hotel is great for it's price.

Really enjoyed my time at Borgo Ripa. The staff were so kind. The rooms were clean — everyday I would find my bed made and stuff folded. There was water, utensils, and a microwave if we needed it. The place was secure too. There were codes for everything.
The area was pretty and the location was a bit accessible. There were restaurants nearby and a few buses that passed.
I guess my only complaints are:
1) the surrounding area was dark at night (not their fault, but kinda scary for a solo female traveler)
2) the bathroom lights were powered by a sensor, which would frequently turn off.
But that’s it.

So.potato1. The elevator is quite nostalgic and unique; I didn't feel unsafe at all. It's probably one-of-a-kind globally, so the experience was fantastic.
2. I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a quadruple room, which had plenty of space and a safe. However, there were no curtains, so I used a hanger to hang clothes for added privacy! 👍🏻
3. The room had a window for ventilation, which helped prevent any unpleasant odors.
4. The hostel also has common areas and a lobby with restrooms, and one shower.
Downsides:
1. The room has a combined toilet and shower, which means if someone is using it, you can't even blow-dry your hair. It would be better if some of these facilities were separate and outside the room.

I stayed at this hostel during my solo trip to Rome, and I chose a 10-bed dorm room. From the very beginning, my experience was extremely positive, mainly thanks to the amazing staff at the front desk. Everyone was genuinely kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. No matter what I asked—directions, transportation tips, or recommendations for sightseeing—they took the time to explain everything clearly and warmly. As a solo traveler, their friendliness made me feel safe, relaxed.

I stayed in a private room with a friend. The toilet, bath, and kitchen were shared with guests from two other private rooms, so it felt more like a share house than a typical hostel. I struggled a bit with locking and unlocking the main door, but the room door lock worked perfectly, and both the room and common areas were clean. For a hostel, I think the quality is quite high. The shower pressure was a little weak, but it provided hot water reliably. The hairdryer was also pretty powerful. There was a washing machine but no dryer. Personally, I was thrilled that the kitchen always had paper towels available.

First off, the shower didn't have hot water. I was also given a different room than what was pictured when I booked. The reception staff was disorganized; I went to the bed they told me to, but someone else was already sleeping there. After that, I was assigned an upper bunk in a simple bunk bed, which meant I couldn't do much. There was no storage, and my bed was the only one without a bedside charger. Since there's nowhere to store valuables, it's hard to manage them. The area around the hotel was good, with a station, restaurants, and a supermarket nearby. I don't think I'll be staying here again.
