We are currently staying at the Alcester Inn as a party of 5 ladies for 1 night whilst visiting Stratford upon Avon. There is plenty of free parking outside. Check in was smooth and fast. The lady was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. With everything you'd want including complementary toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities in all our rooms. As it had been a long day we decided to eat in. The menu offered plenty of choice and was great value for money. All the meals came out piping hot. Everything was beautifully cooked and portions were very generous. I chose the omelette and salad. A simple meal that was absolutely delicious. I can honestly say it was easily the best omelette I've ever eaten. Thank you chef Jo. Several of us asked for tweaks to the menu which were readily accommodated. The lady who served us was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Would I recommend the Alcester? Absolutely! Clean, comfortable, well cooked food and importantly the most welcoming team of staff. All for a very reasonable price. We will be back next time we're in the area. Many thanks for a really good stay.

We chose this accommodation based on previous reviews and the website’s photos. It was a very misleading impression and very disappointing. The first impression was of a working men’s club. The bar area looked more modern and we had high hopes for our room, at £100 for the night. However, on opening the bedroom door, we were hit by a smell which we couldn’t place. The room and bathroom were clean (apart from the bedroom carpet, which I refused to walk on in bare feet). But there were wall marks from nails and poor plastering. The bed was like lying on lumpy springs and there was no tea and coffee-making facilities (expected for the price). We would have expected this room to be marketed at £50 per night. The car park at night filled with the area’s youth, who drank and swore and talked in raised voices right outside our window (which HAD to have the blind down as there were some cars parked directly outside and there was zero privacy. Wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed here for one night at the start of the Jubilee weekend as we were attending the air show at Ragley Hall. I had tried to book the Premier Inn where we stayed last year but it was full. This place was actually much more convenient and we had the bonus of driving through the town and seeing their beautiful Jubilee decorations. The building is rather odd looking it has to be said. It looks like it was converted from either office or light industrial use. Check in was at the bar and was quick and easy. Our room was a reasonable size and had tea and coffee making supplies. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the lack of a shelf or something to put toiletries down on when showering was a bit awkward. We had breakfast the next morning which had to be ordered at the bar. They had run out of Quorn sausages so offered us mushrooms and tomatoes with the meal instead. As others have said, there is no dedicated dining area. We did not find that a problem for breakfast. I am not sure it would necessarily bother us in the evening but I think it would depend on what else was going on. The staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Our room and bathroom were both very clean. We found this place to be more than satisfactory for what we needed. We actually do not live that far away but far enough not to want to travel to and fro both days, especially as the first day ends late and the second starts early. If the event takes place next year we shall return to the Alcester Inn as its proximity to Ragley Hall is very convenient.

Offered good value for money. Yes it is cheap but room small but adequate, clean, good shower, very friendly staff, great bar, music and disco, great food. It is an odd looking place and perhaps a bit strange when you arrive as the reception is at the bar. Was a bit noisy around 2am.

Arrived in the evening and was at first a little intimidated by walking into the busy bar on a Friday night with two children and bags in tow. Arrived around 8pm and food was no longer available, not a problem though as we found a chip shop and a Tesco express literally just around the corner to the Inn - good ole Google. Bedroom was very clean and up to date. I know someone else has put there was no tea and coffee in the room, but ours did. There was complimentary shower gel and shampoo etc and the bathroom was very clean. I think the only downside was that it smelt of damp in there and it would be useful to have a shelf by the sink and in the shower cubicle. With two children it was a nightmare keeping the door shut so the mould/damp smell didn't go into the bedroom. After we got settled, we had dinner from the chip shop and a drink in the bar. The was was brilliant, didn't stay long as we had to get up early and with a 10 yr old it wasn't appropriate. They had a dj playing good 90's, music. Was a fantastic atmosphere and the locals were lovely. Reminded me of just how good pubs used to be back in the day. If I had been on my own with hubby I would have stayed. Highly recommend this place as a stop over if visiting Stratford.

Good value. Room clean and comfortable. Food OK but you do have to eat in the public bar which is pretty noisy. Infinitely better than the nearby Premier Inn (and a bit cheaper) where I stayed last week. **********************************

I hate giving bad reviews, but you have to be honest. I hope the owners read this review and take on board some of the feedback. I booked a double room, for one night, costing £45. By today's standards, that is quite cheap. At this price point, I was not expecting much, but some of the reviews on Trip Advisor were quite postive. First impressions of the building, are not good. It gave off a working man's club, rather than an Inn. Not that matters much as it's the inside that counts—plenty of parking spaces which is good. The first thing I noticed when I entered the building was a strange smell, almost like too much cleaning had been done and they were trying to mask something, more on this later. Check-in is at the bar. Talking of the bar, it was quite soulless and the lighting was too bright, not at all welcoming. Check-in was easy and the staff came across as nice. My room was on the ground floor. Upon entering the room, again there was a strange smell, this time it was a musty smell, that you could taste, this was very strong in the bathroom. The room was worn, but clean, with a double bed, open wardrobe, desk, tea and coffee, telly, and bedside cabinets. More than enough for a one-night stopover. I decided to have dinner at the bar. Ordered a pint of Madri (£4.50) and Hunters Chicken and chips (£8.95). The table I sat at was a little sticky and the bench cushions looked a bit dirty. The Madri had a weird aftertaste. The food was quite good for this price point, the chicken was not dry and not swamped with sauce, and the salad was well presented with a nice oil on it. The only negative was the chips, they tasted like the oil needed changing. I went for a walk into the town centre, only 10 minutes away, so the Alcester Inn is well located, in this respect. Back to the room. the mattress was just about showing its age, I could just feel the springs and they did make a lot of noise, There is a heater in the room, and I did use this as it was quite cold. Also, I could hear a snorer in the next room, bet he could hear me later lol. I had a decent night's sleep, but when I awoke the first thing that hit me was the smell. Musty, damp and very unpleasant. The shower was hot and had good pressure, but the tiles had quite a lot of mould on them and the shower taps needed cleaning, as did the cubicle. Back to smell. it lingered with me all day, even though I had, had a shower. I had a bad throat all day and all the clothes I had in the room had to be washed, it was that bad! I wanted to like this place, but the smell meant I would not be back. For about £30 more you can book into a Travelodge or £40 a Premier Inn, both offering much better quality rooms without waking up smelling like a hobo. If there was no smell, then this would be 3 - 4 basing it on how much I paid, but in reality this is a 0
