Very nice welcome from receptionist. Room and hotel tired, but clean and welcoming. Hotel restaurant not open so went to Spuntino Italian Restaurant a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast very good. Public parking just across the road - just over £6 for 24 hours.

Damp very noticeable, small cramped room with two small beds. Needs updating and in need of modernisation. Bath was coming apart from the floor, too powerful tap so water just shot out. Loud droning sound kept us awake at night. Very disappointed and won’t be recommending or staying here again.

I can't believe I'm having to write such a terrible review about somewhere which looks like it could be so amazing! Greeted with a credit card machine and a disagreement about who should be taking my payment was not the nicest way to arrive. Everything was about the cost... would i like breakfast at £8.99 each day? "Do you offer continental breakfast?" "We do toast!" And then when I said OK no thank you, (I just have a pain au choc or a croissant) was then told the entire list of what is in their Full English. Very strange. I was physically struggling with my big case after they finished bickering about why was taking payment and even told the lady on the desk it was going to be hard - but no offer of anyone available to help me go up the huge staircase. From there it went to Stained duvets 1 Feather-thin sheet with holes laid over a twin bed.( I booked a superior double/ queen) Dripping tap in the bathroom with a piece missing. Luke warm shower, it did not turn any higher in temperature. No back on theTV remote. No instructions for turning the heater on when I was shivering coming out of a like warm shower. The worst part of my 2-night stay was that my room was next door to a family room with a poor child screaming intermittently late at night and again very early in the morning. I have 3 young children and would be mortified if i had been aware of the lack of any soundproofing for the guest next door when your child is unsettled. My room was also directly opposite a church bell, along a main road. WHY? There must have been just 3 bookings that night. Why put any of us there at all?? The bell chimes every single half hour throughout the whole night!!!... and when you reach midnight you are just praying for the single loud chime of 1 am!! When you reach approx 6am. It chimes every 15 mins!! You also get to hear everything outside through the old drafty sash windows with late night revelers to buses etc. I was exhausted and had just 30 mins sleep on night 1. Went to collect my car in the morning without breakfast (car park opposite at £7 a day) and drove straight to the supermarket to buy ear plugs! Night 2 the bells were muffled as i put my newly purchased ear plugs in, I had figured out how to turn the heater on and I *****ped the bed and placed the blanket under the micro-thin sheet so I wouldn't feel the button covers on the mattress and I'd be warmer by placing the spare stained duvet over the actual thin duvet. I never saw any menber of staff at the desk after i checked in and it wasn't until I was leaving on day 3 that I checked my billing and went to hand the key in to see that my breakfast has been charged in my check in bill!! They actually owe me £18 and a great deal of time and sleep! If you want to stay in Amesbury, please do not attempt to stay here unless you are a very heavy sleeper, enjoy no help or any courtesy.... and enjoy a luke warm shower and a very very tired room, bed and feeling in the morning!

Very disappointed that having booked and checked several times that a stay for a relative including breakfast, nothing was on offer. There was no replacement tea ,coffe, milk etc or loo rolls or room service. One night there did not seem to be anyone else in the building, which is ofconcern for security and safety. If a hotel is open over Christmas, it should be made very clear was is or is not on offer. In my view the website and verbal promises breached Trading Standards

I attended this hotel with some trepidation given the precious reviews but need not have worried. We were greeted by a lovely friendly receptionist - Hannah who couldn’t have been more helpful. The rooms are refurbished and large. There a large walk in shower. Nice coffee and tea with biscuits in the room and a large TV. It also has free Wi-Fi which had a very strong signal. The hotel is an old building so lovely exposed wooden beams. It is not a run of the mill bland hotel but bespoke. The bar had a lovely open fire. Service was quick and efficient and again with a lovely atmosphere. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel. It is fairly priced, provides a unique oldy wordy experience in a lovely part of the country. Hannah was very professional throughout and wonderfully smiley.

This hotel is in dire need of a refurb, my experience was a weekend stay. My room was ok clean bedding etc and a new mattress. I was disappointed that the light in the bathroom was not working I reported it twice during my stay. Made shaving interesting by the light on my phone. The toilet holder was not in situ. My main complaint was the strong smell of drains emanating not only in my room but throughout the hotel🫢 candles have been used in reception to mask this no doubt. There was no staff available to provide a drink for residents after midnight as they closed the bar and we were told to follow the staff next door to the Kings Arms!! Breakfast was ok even though once the cooked items were out they stayed in un heated serving though covered containers. Sunday morning in the breakfast room and following a function the previous day it was not nice to see the left over buffet still in situ! I would. It stay here again unless there has been a massive refurb.

Dirty, unkempt, unstaffed, bed was awful, tv remote didn't work. The curtains didn't close, the room smelt funny. The bed had no protection on it just the mattress and I sheet, it was so uncomfortable. When we came back from dinner there was no staff to tell us anything, I looked everywhere for a member staff, I looked everywhere for some batteries. The hotel is dirty and run down. We paid for a breakfast which we didn't get, no staff anywhere, no milk for our tea, no juice, no hot breakfast. We have left and are now eating in a cafe around the corner. We will not return. Disgusting.
