Hotels Near Jim Thompson Surawong Road in Bangkok

I have been waiting so long and looking forward to stay at this newly redeveloped hotel for the last 3-4 years since my last stay back in 10+ years ago……. Still, the service was good, located at most convenient place within Bangkok city centre……and with a magnificent superb view of the Lumphini Park from the guest room…..what a brilliant and fantastic view !!!  The lobby bar as well as the signature 1970 bar at the top floor are among the best in Bangkok apart from The Bamboo Bar at Mandarin Oriental and BKK Social Club at Four Seasons is which I like the most…..highly highly recommended for all of you. Services from staff (all levels of staff) are superb and friendly.  Room for improvement: I’d suggest the management to offer some more leisure sitting facilities near the entrance/front desk for guests (like the Mandarin Oriental) as my wife and I have been standing near the entrance long story waiting for taxi…….though I saw some guests chose to sit on the sofas at the lobby bar…..without ordering drinks……:)) Will definitely revisit this hotel again in near future.

I booked this hotel for a short stay while I waited for my flight to Japan. The hostel had a café, but most of the customers seemed to be enjoying smoking ****, creating a laid-back atmosphere. Everyone appeared to be having their own peaceful time. The hostel itself was fantastic, offering all the basic facilities, and the rooms were very clean. Overall, it was a great experience at the hostel.

A good location which was walking distance to where we wanted to be but not everyone would be happy with this location. The hotel had everything we needed including a great little rooftop pool and chill area. Great staff, excellent breakfast and everything was perfect for our short two day stay. Recommended!

Enjoyed every minute of our stay. We arrived a bit earlier than expected, Mr. Sunn (or Sonn) from the front desk told us our room was not ready yet, and he was so kind to invite us to the executive lounge to have a drink and some snacks and most importantly enjoy the beautiful view of Bangkok. 酒店的早餐十分丰富，囊括了泰国本土的美食、中东食品、西式早餐丰富程度远超国内的一线酒店品牌，如果你不喜欢喧闹的街头，在这里一样可以品尝到精致美味的thai street food 酒店的环境十分幽静，周围的商圈也十分雅致，有牛排馆中餐馆日料店….酒店的礼宾部可以登记预约前往地铁站的接驳班车，每个小时一趟是免费的 无边泳池不是很大，但是很度假，在炎热的中午，可以在泳池边小憩 我订的房型包含着厨房和小客厅，理论上是一个套间，但是价格很合适，更棒的是房间内还有洗衣机和炉灶餐具，可以常驻自己做饭。 唯一的美中不足就是前台送东西会稍微慢一些，每次都要等个十几20分钟。 十分喜欢这家酒店，这也是我第一次住凯宾斯基，印象非常的好，很愿意把它推荐给朋友和家人。 再次感谢所有接待我们的staff，包括礼宾前台客房还有餐厅的工作人员，谢谢

Courtyard Bangkok is a modern hotel with a great location near the BTS station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a nice pool and fitness center. Overall, it's a good choice for a stay in Bangkok.

I stayed at Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square during a business trip, even though my meetings were in Sukhumvit. I chose this hotel based on its high rating, and I must say, the location is absolutely superb! Everything I needed was within walking distance—MBK, Siam BTS Station, and the many shopping options around Siam Square. There’s even a Café Amazon right opposite, which is my go-to coffee spot in Bangkok. The hotel lobby was spacious and well-designed, featuring bars and cafes, making it a nice spot to relax. However, the check-in counter area is quite small, so it can get crowded during peak hours. That said, the staff were all friendly and helpful, which made the experience pleasant. As for the room, it was spacious, clean, and cozy—perfect for one person. The washroom was well-equipped and included a bidet, which was a great touch. Breakfast was decent, and I appreciated that there was a Halal section, though the variety was quite limited. Overall, I had a great stay and found the hotel to be an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers. Would definitely consider staying here again!

I booked the Oriental Residence Bangkok on Trip.com for a business conference stay and stayed in the one bedroom suite with park view with my partner. I chose the hotel because it appeared less ostentatious than most hotels in that stretch. The Oriental Residence Bangkok is discreet. If you appreciate quiet, solitude and discretion, then this is what you will get during your stay. For travellers who are looking for an adventure or close proximity to a shopping mall, this might not be the place for you. The overall experience at this hotel was fine. It was what was to be expected in a 5-star hotel. The hotel room that we had was spacious and had most of the amenities needed (especially if you are a remote worker who needs to be on your laptop 24/7). The internet is fast and the workspace station comfortable enough to get things done without distraction. The kitchen is fully furnished in the event you need bowls, plates or cups for an inside meal. There is also a decent washer-dryer that can be used if you would like to wash dirty laundry. The hotel also provides twice a day cleaning - one in the mid-afternoon and a turn down service in the evening. Because of this meticulous approach to cleanliness, my allergies were not triggered at all which was definitely a huge thumbs up. I had no issue whatsoever with their bedding and linen. In fact, it was so sleep-friendly that I had a good rest for the entire trip. This is quite something for someone with irregular sleep patterns. The only gripe I had with the hotel was that they were not able to accept a payment deposit without an actual credit card. I had a virtual credit card and barely any cash on hand. However, this is a minor issue and not something that I am particularly miffed about. I have read some of the 1-star reviews with regards to this hotel, and not experienced any of them. If you are a business traveller looking for a quiet and decent 5-star place to stay, this hotel does the job.

The hotel stay experience is great. We were lucky to have our room upgraded when checking in and the suite room was exciting and spacious. Nearby restaurants included a few Thai, Japanese, Italian and Indian food, also Starbucks and some chain stores/supermarkets, all in walking distance. The hotel's own breakfast buffet is also great at affordable price. Gym is nice too. I definitely recommend Holiday Inn Silom to travellers who would like to enjoy cleaniness, concenience and quiet stay.

Positive things: Great room views. Hotel is clean. The variety and quality of toilet ametities are very good. Negative things: Awful staff attitude. I inserted in the reservation, made sure to the lady at the check-in, that I would like a quiet room. However, I was put into a room next to the elevator, and that elevator there is VERY NOISY. Everytime the elevarot worked up or down, I could hear it working in side my room. I inquired the reception, informing my room number, to be told immediately the hotel was fully booked, I did insisted that the noise was not pleasant at all. The answer given, in a very rude tone, was that I should try to change for the other night. I then told them that I am staying for one night only. To no avail or change of attitude. After much insistence and even the interference of a local friend who works for the brand, I was changed to another room. In this oher room, to my surprise, there was CONTINUOUS LOUD NOISE FROM RENOVATIONS. Note that it was already 21h00 (9pm). I was even told that in this brand the have a ”golden rule” of not making noise after 17h (5pm). Which again, more unpleasant exchanges with reception with another interference of my friend (who was also shocked) almost one hour after I was ”upgraded” the room. At this new room, which by my view wasn't that different from my original ones, it was finally quiet. Seems that was a room rarely used and with various stains in carpet and bed sheets. However with the stress that I went by, really didn't cover it. It was now five hours of annoying unnecessary stresses with the hotel staff. It is not really a cheap hotel and it has an image of a prestigious brand. The staff attitude was less than acceptable throughout the whole experience. Fortunately I was lucky for my friend to intervene in my favour. Glad that I had to stay only one night. At check-out, I was faced with even unprepared individual who did not know how to use a card machine. I know it's a Hilton, but I can say it was one, if not the most irksome experiences that I have ever dealt with.

I recommended Siam Kempinski based on its reputation, while check-in process and room were satisfactory, I must note that the hotel is not particularly new. That said, lobby and general areas are well-maintained, showcasing the property’s commitment to upkeep 👍🏻  However, during the stay, there were some service lapses that required attention. While the management team eventually offered service recovery after multiple escalations from the Manager to the Director, the handling of the issue could have been smoother. For a 5-star hotel, I would have expected quicker and more proactive CS without needing the guest to follow up repeatedly. Overall, the experience was acceptable, but there is room for improvement in delivering the seamless, elevated service that aligns with the high standards associated with the Kempinski brand!
