Location is great in Gothic Quarter, and staff are very nice. But the rooms are very very small! And peculiarly designed. Even small for one person. Toilet separate area of room from sink basin and shower. No where to sit except on bed. Very clean, good TV but uncomfortable room. Breakfast excellent, restaurant very good for dinner, rooftop bar small but attractive with good tapas. Hotel arranges transport as most taxis couldn’t find the hotel on a very narrow windy street!

Where do I start we simply loved everything about our stay at the edition. We stayed here April 18th - 21st and the staff specifically the concierge, night bell man on the 18th and front desk were beyond helpful and accommodating. I unfortunately lost the card with their names but those three guys helped my mom and I tremendously - from recommendations, transportations and other tidbits which made our stay very special. Lou Lou on the rooftop was exceptional and actually would remember our morning order which added that extra touch of personalization and guest service. Lisa I believe was her name at the rooftop bar (evening) was also fabulous. The Edition hotel is one of my favorite luxury boutique hotels and the Barcelona one didn’t disappoint - the rooms were gorgeous, clean and well appointed. The rooftop had breath taking views and the bar on the 1st floor was great for a nightcap. On top of the service, great rooms the hotel was in an exceptional location which made exploring super easy! We spent three days here and then moved to the W and it was nowhere near the level of luxury service - quite frankly we regretted having not stayed at the Edition for our entire stay!

The best part of the Mercer, however, is the staff, who were very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. My wife and I went for a very short trip to Barcelona and chose this hotel at random . What a great choice and a good bit of luck! Firstly it's location was perfect for us - right on Las Ramblas. Very central. We took the Aerobus from the airport which stopped at Plaça de Catalunya a short distance away from Las Ramblas and obviously our hotel We were welcomed by friendly staff and given a welcome drink. Our room was comfortable and clean and had free drinks in the mini bar; free coffee nespresso machine, a big bed and lots of pillows! There was a very good breakfast choice and you were made to feel like royalty by Max the breakfast waiter - who was always cheerful. The desk staff were very helpful with tips about local food, travelling , booking tickets... Fully a five star service. We will definitely go again to Barcelona and hopefully be able to stay again at this lovely diamond of a hotel.

This is the second time I stayed at this hotel: I stayed here 17 years ago in my first visit to Barcelona although I could not remember much of my experience then. I decided to stay at the Hotel Royal Ramblas in my second visit to Barcelona for 5 nights in September 2022 because of its good location. I must say its location on La Rambla is excellent and exceptional. It is close to many popular tourist attractions, it's just a few minutes walk to Plaza Catalunya metro station, and bus stops at Plaza Catalunya for the hop on hop off buses. Port Veil and the beach are within walking distance. The room we got on the Planta Royal (just one floor above the breakfast restaurant) was comfortable and clean. Although the room is facing La rambla it is extremely quiet during the night. The wifi was fast, the shower was great and the aircon was so quiet and effective. The breakfast was excelent throughout our stay and the staff at the reception were very helpful and freindly. I will definitely recommend this hotel for visitors to Barcelona. One complaint I would like to make is that for a four star hotel, there isn't any tissue paper in the room. I have to buy one box of tissue papers from Carrefour nearby. But in my opinion Hotel Royal Ramblas is an excellent hotel and I would stay there agin in my next visit.

Calling it a swimming pool is a lie, feel ripped off. When you select a hotel with a swimming pool, the prices went up by £300-400 for our stay, so a hefty increase, but they didn't have one. It was 1 foot deep, that's not a pool, if you can't swim in it then it's a glorified puddle. Breakfast was vile, only edible part was the croissants, which seems pricey for £9 per day. Bed was relatively cosy, but on wheels and made so much noise any time either of us moved in the slightest. There was a buzzing sound that went off from the fan every 5 seconds, not too bad during the day, but when you're trying to sleep then it was a nightmare. The staff were friendly at reception, the bright spark that kept us from going elsewhere as we were really tempted. Wouldn't book again.

When first booking our trip to Barcelona, it was a little overwhelming the amount of properties one could choose from. After a bit of review and consideration we decided on the Hotel Olivia Balmes. We were most interested in finding a hotel that was centrally located, emphasized comfort and cleanliness, & had in room central air conditioning (given our late summer travel). The hotel hit top marks in all. We also used the pool and ate breakfast which were both excellent. I would not hesitate to book a stay here. The front desk staff were also very kind and available 24 hours a day.

This experience has been one of the best we’ve had in Barcelona. The hotel room felt spacious and all staff members were exceptionally helpful. We are particularly impressed by Front Desk employee Luis and Gema. They were extremely supportive. They greatly aided us with transport and gave us local tips (such as good restaurants, how to take public transport etc.) Gema even personally helped us to arrange our luggage delivery to another hotel in a timely and efficient way. The luggage was closely monitored the whole process until it arrived in our hand. I would highly recommended this real 5 Star Hotel to everyone.

The general hotel in general, the most commendable is the location of the hotel, the absolute golden location, to go to the sights and shopping streets to walk (within 1 km); the metro station is within 500 meters. The cathedral is right behind the hotel. But the rest of the hotel is average... Breakfast is an order, and there are not many varieties available. Breakfast is considered to be below average in similar hotels. The hotel facilities are simple, even ridiculous, no tableware. The so-called executive room I have set up is a boudoir type. I don’t think it makes sense to set a high-grade room type in Ctrip. Last year in Venice, Italy, the room type was not correct.

The location is good and the cathedral can be seen right in the middle and the scenery is the best. Even though I checked in late at night, they accommodated me without any problems. This hotel is a brilliant hotel to stay in and the staff - Alvaro in particular made it even better We visited to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday as the two of us plus our 2 yr old. We organised a taxi via the hotel and this was waiting for us at the airport and took us straight to the door. We did get aerobus back on our return journey but went with taxi for ease on a late evening arrival with a toddler! Before arriving I was in email contact with the hotel in relation to bedding and room facilities for our toddler. Always great communication and fast responses. This is also how arranged the taxi. I also explained it was a birthday trip and Alvaro recommended and booked a local restaurant / even calling them to confirm could cater for toddler. He went above and beyond. We also had the pleasure of meeting Alvaro on our arrival and he told us he was new to the hotel. He was a great asset and should be looked after. He continued to go above and beyond for us and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast here - we stayed B&B - is small area but plentiful and food is fresh and lots of it. Juices are brilliant and great variety to cater for us all. Location is great - many shops, bars and restaurants around. Walking distance to many places, including the beach! And only 5-10 min walk from Cataluyna Square where can get buses all over to go further afield. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

We stayed for 6 nights in high season. Checked in promptly on arrival. We couldn’t find anything that said what time we could check in on our paperwork or the website and unfortunately my email asking the question was never answered. We arrived at about 11am though and our room was ready so we went straight up. We had room 201, a quadruple, for myself, my husband and our two teenage boys. I was worried it was going to be a tight fit with the boys sharing a bed but essentially there were four single beds, we got one each. Two were pushed together to make up a double. The arrangement suited us fine and we all slept like logs (although after 30000 steps a day every day it is hard not to sleep well!) The room was scrupulously clean, the bathroom large with an enormous shower cubicle as well as a bath with shower. One suggestion here would be for the hotel to provide a hook or ring for a hand towel by the sink, we trapped a corner in the drawers below the sink so it could dry a bit between uses. A downside to the room was it has no proper window. There is a small opening into a vestibule type space but as a family that visited the beach a couple of times as well as the Olympic pool, it was impossible to properly dry swimsuits and beach towels. I’m not sure how this could be fixed for these rooms, without a plug in heated rail or something which in 30+ degrees is madness! The benefit of the window situation was the room was dark with no street noise. We had breakfast a few times during our stay, it wasn’t included but we decided €10 each was worthwhile to fill up so we could avoid paying for a proper lunch later and save a bit of cash some days. It was a lovely spread, constantly refreshed with a wide variety to suit all tastes. There was no kettle or facilities to make a drink which I found harder and more costly than I expected. We used the tiny mini bar fridge to keep some drinks cold and bought some snacks from a supermarket but food costs stacked up quickly. WiFi worked perfectly (faster than my rubbish home wifi) and no charge for the safe. Air con worked beautifully. Location wise I really don’t think it could have been better. On the edge of the tiny gothic streets, a ten minute stroll to Las Ramblas, a twenty minute walk to the beach (stunned at how busy the beach was, we got there 9am and left at about 11 when it was busying up and getting hot), a metro station a minute away. Staff courteous and friendly with good working English. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone needing accommodation in Barcelona.

Wonderful hotel, with friendly, helpful staff, in a central location. Would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of choice from cheeses, meats, pastries and fruit to a choice of eggs from a separate menu. Staff were very attentive offering more juice and hot drinks. Pool/bar area is a lovely spot to relax.
