Hefengjingli Courtyard Hotel (Houhai Jishuitan Branch)

Disappointed with this hotel, room is ok, quite simple, but I expected they will provide a nice breakfast for the room price I paid. The stand with a very few choices near their reception desk doesn’t even count as a breakfast bar for me, veeery few options given(just small coffee machine, toasted bread, steamed corn, yogurt, milk and two small bowls with fruits… and it is on that breakfast table. besides that, they give fried egg, a slice of bacon and Chinese sausage… when you pay 1811cny a night, you expect much more than that. Especially if there are other choices in the city like Hyatt, Hilton etc with similar price but with better location and better options with food and rooms. Both days in Beijing we had to take taxi and go to city center to have nice breakfast at our own cost. Location is not good as well, a bit far from all the sightseeing places and no good restaurants nearby(or any?). The room is quite small, but new. Though it’s not very convenient that the bathroom sink faces the bed without a wall between them(they used just some decoration) , so when one person uses the sink, another person has problem sleeping with the light on right in front of his face. The sound isolation needs improvement, could hear everything what was going on in corridors. The present they give (Chinese hanfu and summer palace puzzle) when we check out is nice, but doesn’t worth all the problems we had. I’d give this hotel 3 stars out of 5. Would not recommend.

The design of the hotel is stylish, with a beautiful courtyard. However, the only window of the room is facing the corridor, which means you either need to keep the curtain closed or people outside can see everything in your room. Otherwise, the room itself is and clean, with a spacious bathroom. The bed is very comfy. The location is very close with the Shishahai park, which is beautiful, but it takes some walk from subway station.
