Ruby Pub & Hotel

If you want a good nights sleep, find somewhere else. The bathroom was nice but the shower was filthy! See pictures attached. The bed was uncomfortable, just had a bog standard home made wooden base and the bedding didn’t even match and the Pillows were lumpy. The pub had what seemed to be a lock in with loud music playing until the early hours. The pub was dark and dirty with wires hanging around, the DJ was awful. We were checked in by a bouncer…says it all really. We were woken up at 6am by next doors alarm clock. Went on until 6:15. We then could hear them snoring and sneezing. There is mould on the wall by the window and paint peeling off on same wall. The rest of the walls are scratched and scuffed. We paid £70 for our room and thought it wasn’t worth more than £30 There is a kettle with tea, coffee and milk available in the room along with a hairdryer. The hand wash in the shower room is filled with washing up liquid, but there is plenty of toilet roll. We won’t be returning and feel that the whole place needs a complete makeover, it has a lot of potential but maybe in the hands of someone who half cares about their guests We were in room 3.

Poor. The room had damp. The towels were on the floor. There is no option of breakfast. The bar shut at 10pm we asked at 9:40pm for a drink, but we’re turned away and other people can in after us and were served!!! You’re not allowed food or drink in your room BUT they give you a fridge. I just found the whole experience very strange

This is not a place you wish to stay. We were fully aware of the size of the rooms but that's all we were aware about!! When walking in you are hit with a musty smell. The bed was so hard with 1 very flat pillow and the quilt smelt musty so much so we slept fully clothed. We tried to have a shower but the water was cold, I wish I was joking but there was no hot water at all. It was not just our room as our friend's had the same issue. The towels also smelt like they hadn't been washed in a year. Just not a nice place to stay and to add to it the TV was almost falling off the wall. Oh and don't forget the flies on the window seal. I would avoid at all costs

The Bad - This is not a hotel. It has no reception. It has no food at all. If you like or need your sleep, do not stay here over the weekend. The music, which is played is really loud in the pub and this is right below the rooms. The rooms are very, very small. You cannot unpack your bags as there was no storage apart from one bedside cabinet. The ventilation in the rooms is poor as you cannot open the windows due to the noise. There is a fan but our remote did not work but was replaced when we asked. The balcony is an outdoor space is run down and the view is of a load of rubbish. The Bins were completely full and left outside the front of the pub all weekend. Not a great vision. The good - I do have to say that the Bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the shower was good. Think I'm still grumpy over the lack of sleep. I strongly recommend you do not go here!

Small clean and well presented. Clean rooms and comfy bed. Good shower. Cannot find fault at this price over Easter. Was on the road and needed good value comfy nights sleeps. And that’s exactly what I got. Thanks . If your just needing the basics on a weekend trip this place fine.

Paid in advance for room, upon arrival was asked again to pay. I said I’m sure I had paid online yet desperate as had no where to go, paid again. After staying, I messaged to say I had been charged double and the manager Arthur said he would organise a refund after I had sent evidence of the duplicate charges. He went on to block me, so overall paid £136 for a tiny room that smells like unwashed bedding.

My friends and I booked this place based on the very misleading website photos which gives almost a boutique hotel vibe, and unfortunately were all too busy to check reviews (lesson learned). We looked at the tiny depressing rooms and decided not to stay and booked somewhere else. Rooms are very small, bedding does not look fresh and clean. Staff seemed friendly, to be fair. We knew we probably wouldn't get a refund (we didn't) but it was worth paying again to not stay here. If they were charging £30 a night or something I would understand. If you want a place to lay your head and don't care at all what it's like because you plan on being very drunk or something, then fine. Otherwise I would wholeheartedly not recommend. We stayed at the Leonardo in the end, right by the station, and it was lovely.

We arrived at 15.30 to the pub closed when we could check in from 3pm, no one to be seen. The rooms are extremely small with no room to put your case. Mattresses have springs sticking out and only one flat pillow on the bed. The decor in general is extremely poor with stains on the walls and extremely tired. Modern bathroom but brown towels are rock hard. As if it’s not bad enough, it’s now 11.40 pm and there is no chance of sleep. The music from the pub is vibrating all around the room. According to the pub website it should have shut at 11pm. Do not stay here, it’s the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
