Angel Hotel

From the front and on the website the hotel and rooms look amazing. To say I was slightly disappointed would be an understatement. I had a fabulous greeting and valet parking, which was lovely. I was escorted to my ”courtyard” room.... which from the outside looked like a storage cupboard, on a walkway by the road. The room was extremely small and very tired looking. One small window overlooking the smoking area. The rest of my group, 14 of us in total, were in the main hotel, huge rooms, big bright windows, copper baths, sofas. Very nice and a vast contrast to what I was put in. Quite disappointed.
Dragonfly Hotel Bury St Edmunds

Visited the hotel in a groupon deal, £99 for two nights. I've seen some bad reviews on this hotel but I can only speak as I find. Good location just off jct 44 of the A14. Staff were friendly. Room (316) was okay. Yes the bathroom needed updating but it didn't spoil our stay. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and the bar was well stocked. There was a wedding reception on the Saturday night but we heard no noise in our room. Sainsburys store two minutes drive away. The only issue, which isn't the hotel's fault. Taxis in Bury St Edmunds town centre were poor late evening. We tried to get a taxi into town on Saturday night at 9.30pm but couldn't get one for two hours. Made sure we registered our car number in reception on arrival to avoid a fine. We would definitely stay again if a groupon offer came up
The Riverside House Hotel

Well the hotel was very welcoming and although you could sense staff shortages the guy on reception soon got things sorted, we were booked into a superior garden room!! Superior it was not very tired in the decor, only one spare extra pillow, no glasses in the room(for taking medication or a glass of water bedside) not everyone likes drinking out of bottles.light didn’t work above mirror and for the aged among us a good light above the mirror is essential!! and it was not fixed during our stay. We were there for a family wedding but not at the hotel and I have to say the staff pulled out all stops for our family party to have a meal organising for us all to be together in part of the dining room while they were busy with a wedding in the hotel, the food and service were excellent.Sunday morning breakfast was very busy with only one member of staff not good but she coped admirably.. Overall a lovely hotel just need some serious attention to the rooms then all will be good
