Noisiest room I’ve ever stayed in .. walls were thumping with music until 1pm .. if the staff had had the curtesy to tell us a function was on we would have stayed somewhere else . Do not stay in rooms 5,6 or7 in the Coach House. I booked the room over the telephone at 4pm and arrived checked in and paid by 5pm and at no point did staff tell us it would be very noisy despite us now seeing numerous reviews on Trip Adivsor to that effect . At 10.30pm we called the manager up to our room and on being told the blaring noise would continue until 1pm we demanded a full refund , which was immediately granted .. but of course we did not get a good nights sleep .. why they let anyone knowingly book this room in the first place is beyond me .

Lunch at the Royal Oak was great. Generous portions and reasonably priced good quality pub food. The extensive menu gave more than enough choice. Drinks choices were good too. Staff were very attentive and friendly and the hotel was very characterful. Definitely recommended.

Visited last night & had a table booked for 12. The place was busy & buzzing, The food was delicious & the portion sizes huge , brilliant service & great value for money. We were a party of 12 & all the food arrived at the same time....which is no mean feat when all are ordering different dishes !! Will we be going again?.....absolutely !!!

We had a lovely two nights stay. Comfy bed, hot shower and a tasty, generous breakfast that will get you through the whole day. Great central location to see the area. Friendly staff and lovely little pub for a drink at the end of a busy day

We stayed one night here in August. It didn’t start well as the room we were allocated was not the room we had booked as it didn’t have a bath. We were quickly shown to another room with a bath. The room was clean, but a bit tatty especially the carpet. It was also overly warm. However there were plenty of plus points. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We also had dinner in the pub and thought that was great too. Overall good value and would probably stay again for a night if passing.

We had a very strangely shaped room in the annexe. I can’t help feeling it could have been partitioned better. That said, it was very comfortable and the velux window above the bed allowed a nice flow of fresh air ion a very muggy night. An extractor fan from the kitchen or laundry below was rather noisy in the evening, as was the traffic on the road outside, but I think g is reasonable to expect a bit of noise in a pub B&b so I’m not complaining. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is good, with a compact but well varied menu, in which almost all items could be made gluten free. However I did feel that it is marketed toward the more horizontally and gravitationally challenged sector of the populace as the portions were about twice the size that I would normally expect, but everything we had was nicely prepared and presented. Breakfast in the morning included the novelty of Staffordshire oatcakes, which are very similar to fried parathas. The pub is in a beautiful situation by the river Dove, with some nice public footpath walks leading from it. The garden is surrounded by some beautiful mature trees - weeping willow, ash, sycamore - but no oak! We really enjoyed our stay.

Me and my little boy booked to stay here for a night inveterate a family caravan trip. We had a busy few day and wanted to get a good night's sleep ( a break from all been together in the caravan) arrived at about 7.30 p.m. lights off for 9 but the noise !!!! Wow the noise! How you can they charge for people to sleep in this room when there's no chance of sleep!! It's beyond me. The music the shouting the room was shaking!! Went on till after 1.00 a.m !!! What a waste of money, I actually feel robbed. I've sent an email and not had any response 🤦‍♀️ spoilt the next day too as we were both so tired
