The Golden Fleece Inn

After cancelling our booking twice due to family illness, we finally got to stay in a King Suite. The team was amazing and dealt with our re-bookings excellently. Our room was large with a lounge, a beautiful bedroom which had an outdoor seating area, and 4 piece bathroom suite with jacuzzi bath. We ate in the restaurant both nights because the food was really good. Small menu but able to choose some nice dishes. Ferrero Rocher cheesecake to die for. Breakfast had lots to choose from and definitely good quality produce. No problem parking directly outside the hotel. We would definitely recommend The Golden Fleece and would stay again if in the area.

The room (No. 1) was perfectly adequate, if a little small, and had a good view over the Square. All was very clean and, despite suggesting it was unnecessary for us males, we returned to find that the very pleasant young housemaid had done a complete service. The breakfasting arrangements were unusual but not difficult, but the coffee maker could do with an upgrade: white coffee turned out to be 50:50 coffee and milk. All staff were outgoing, cheerful and helpful and it was a pleasure for the real ale lover to find a second well-kept example from the local Cwrw Llŷn brewery. After a very average curry at the allegedly better Indian in Porthmadog, "Jude's Chicken Curry" in the Fleece was an absolute pleasure. Decent beer in the slightly more traditional Union Inn straight across the square too. Parking was first-come in the sizeable square outside but, out of working hours, we found it necessary to park a couple of hundred yards down the road towards Porthmadog. After 2 nights there we were a little disappointed not to be able to book a third. Thank you; will be happy to return.

Visited here with a friend. We booked two single rooms. We thought we would be near each other but my friend had a room on the top floor and I was in room 9 underneath. The room was so small, the bed had a mattress that was so soft it sunk in the middle. The bathroom had a slanting window that was permanently open because it was so high I couldn’t reach it. The radiator was only Luke warm so the room was freezing. For two nights I was awake all night until 2am with the person above moving around. I could actually hear him walking in and out of the bathroom. I also took a photo of wood louse in my shower. I showed the manager the photo of the wood louse. She assured me she would speak to the cleaner. I got back at 5pm and the bug was still in the shower tray. I spoke to the manager on the first morning to change my room, but was told they couldn’t move me for the first two nights. I was told the room would be empty above me so quieter. It was not ! Someone else was in it. I did get moved for my last two nights and the room was lovely. It was on the top floor overlooking the square. The bed was lovely. The bathroom much better and it was warmer. It was also very quiet. While booking a single room the website did not show the single room, only the double. I feel this is deceptive. The double was not much more to pay for than the single room but the standard so much more. It was the worst single room I have ever had, not relaxing or restful and the noisiest I have ever stayed in. If you stay here ask for the top floor and avoid the awful single room.

My wife and I had a great three night stay here, in what was a very quirky and comfortable room, complete with chandelier, which we loved. The breakfast menu had a very varied choice, with the full Welsh breakfast being very tasty and highly recommended. We also enjoyed an evening meal on two of the three evenings we stayed here, and we both thought that the food served was of a very good quality. The Inn is in a good location for exploring the area, and set in Tremadog, a very nice little village, situated within walking distance of the equally nice harbour town of Portmadog. Many thanks to all the friendly staff for making us feel welcome, hope to see you again on our next visit.

We had a great short stay at the Golden Fleece Inn. The staff were friendly and polite. The room was very comfortable with the usual niceties. We had a dinner and breakfasts in the restaurant and the food was really very good! I highly recommend the Welsh breakfast - and make it a large one. The village is quaint and quiet. The Union Inn serves lovely local ales and you can while away the time listening to the deep Welsh dialect in the background. The Inn is situated within easy access to many places to visit. A taxi to Portmeirion is £15 each way and well worth a visit for Lunch and a few drinks. We would be very happy to stay at the Golden Fleece Inn again.

Fantastic, I loved everything about this hotel, from the staff,food,location, I would definitely recommend it, and definitely stay there again, ten out of ten, and there was free parking, the staff where lovely. And the food was great, I would take my own pillow next time, but that’s like all of use, but I soon got use to them.

Room was very comfortable, very clean and tastefully decorated. The restaurant offered a wide choice of food in the evening with warmth and glow from a wood burning stove and the choice at breakfast had something for every taste. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for more!

We stayed for one night in a king room and the bed was so comfy, as were the pillows. Our room was clean, tidy and in good condition in The Madoc House. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, and we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast. We would stay here again.

we recently stayed in the madoc apartments, the bed was clean and comfortable and the room was a good size. The breakfast was very good but I feel it should be in the price of the room and not separate.One thing that lets it down was you could hear the People in the room next door talking and the toilet flusher was so loud we couldn't flush at night incase we woke the neighbours..it also did it when we emptied the bath.. other than that it was a nice stay.
