I've been staying at this hotel for a decade, and its location has always been superb. However, the facilities have really gone downhill and are now almost at a hostel standard, especially the bedding. On this most recent stay, upon entering the ground floor lobby, I was immediately hit by a strong sewage smell, which also permeated my room. The carpet in the room felt visibly dirty. It feels like the hotel is in desperate need of a major renovation and upgrade. On a positive note, the staff's service attitude was excellent.

On a quick weekend trip to Seoul, I booked this place after seeing many online recommendations, staying just one night. My overall impression was that it's all style and no substance. While the exterior design is fantastic, the guest rooms were disappointing across the board—from soundproofing and cleanliness to in-room facilities and decor. It felt more like an upscale hostel, and perhaps a longer stay would be slightly better.
**Cleanliness:** The hygiene was subpar. There was a foul smell from the drain, and waking up to that stench in the morning was incredibly annoying. We also encountered many small flying insects, and I even spotted dead bugs upon check-in, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning.
**Room Environment:** The room was cramped. There was barely enough space for a 20-inch suitcase and no room to spare. The sink occupied a large area, directly opposite the bathroom, making the pathway extremely narrow. The bed creaked loudly with every turn, and the power outlets were inconveniently placed.
**Location:** Decent. It's about a 10-minute walk, and there's a 7-Eleven conveniently located downstairs.
**Service:** I didn't experience much in the way of service. I arrived quite late, and the self-check-in process was convenient. However, when issues arose, there was no one available to assist immediately.
**Facilities:** Very well-equipped. B1 (basement level 1) offers a gym, a self-service kitchen, and a shared common area.

The serviced apartment is very conveniently located right at Myeongdong Exit 3. The airport shuttle bus runs right outside the hotel, making it easy to get to and from the airport without having to push your luggage. Myeongdong is bustling with activity, with numerous restaurants both morning and evening. This is the hotel's biggest advantage. However, the cleanliness and service at the apartment were average. You have to buy your own shampoo, shower gel, laundry detergent, and other items, which is a bit of a concern.

The location is fantastic, right above the subway station, making most attractions reachable within 20 minutes. Directly opposite is the Korean-themed Park. The front desk staff were very helpful with luggage storage and were warm and friendly. They also provided free umbrellas.
The room was fully equipped with everything you might need, including a washing machine and an induction cooktop. However, the space was quite compact.
The only real downside was the incredibly slow elevators. With so many guests, it was often difficult to get on, sometimes requiring multiple attempts.

Just beside the night market at Myeongdong & subway station. Opposite there are Lotte shopping malls. Convenient location for shopping. However toilet a bit small but okay for one pax. Cleanliness is good.

From the Incheon airport, you can take AREX and change to line 1 at Seoul Station. You can change to line 4 from Seoul station and get off at the next station, Hoehyeon station. You can go to exit 3. Unfortunately, there is no escalator, so if you have heavy luggage and things, you must go up the stairs yourself. Except for this drawback, the location was good, near Myeondong, and I also went to the Namsan cable car on foot. The welcoming and check-in process was easy. The breakfast selection was varied and a little bit crowded. Room cleaning is not satisfactory, cause the inside door area of my room was sticky and it remained for three consecutive days. The gym and pool were small. To sum up, I would love to stay again next time.

Amongst Koreans The Shilla Seoul is the Undisputed Quintessential Luxury Hotel. This is due to many factors that can't be found elsewhere, starting with the Beautiful Location that can't be matched you just have to go there to find out, 2nd the engraved legacy in the Korean collective consciousness, the years following 1979 birthday of the Hotel are Korean GDP expansion years, leaving a healthy mix of nostalgia and legacy amongst long-lifespan last big generation of Koreans and their offpsring. Because the stakes are high so the Staff are exceptionally trained, which leads to the 3rd factor Exceptional Cleaningness and Courteous Classy staff, this required lots of hand-picking in the increasingly difficult Korea.

The stay was ok, except that the ice bucket and cup was left uncleared.
Location was great, connected to Yongsan station via a sheltered walkway. Take exit 3 towards Seoul Dragon City and take the lift to level 1 to the lobby.
Nice cafes and restaurants in the Sin Yongsan area by bus..
Back to the hotel - the concierge tagged my bags to another name. I had to unlock my tablet with my fingerprint to prove it's my bag.. (my fault for losing the ticket and yay for security). 🤣

The hotel is very convenient located at across Yongsan station walk distance with elevator access directly to bridge walkway. I stayed in the normal novotel ambassador deluxe room as well as the suit both are clean and have everything you need. Suit gives you free access to the spa area.
Would recommend booking this hotel also due to friendliness and helping staff. They managed to get me early checking after switching rooms. Also the view is amazing as attached picture show.

MMomo on the roadSolaria Hotel Review
Cleanliness:
The hotel is absolutely clean. Rooms are cleaned every two days, but fresh towels are provided daily in a basket left at your door, which I found very convenient.
Staff & Services:
The staff are very friendly and cheerful. I requested an extra blanket, and housekeeping delivered it within just five minutes—very responsive and efficient service.
Location:
Excellent location right in the heart of Myeongdong shopping street. It’s only a 5-minute walk to the airport bus station (6001/6015), making it very convenient for travelers.
Room Layout:
I really liked that the toilet and shower are in separate rooms. This made it much more convenient for me and my partner to get ready at the same time.
Added Value:
As a coffee lover, I really appreciated that Nespresso capsules were refilled and restocked every day—a great added touch!
Summary:
Overall, I had a great experience at Solaria Hotel and would highly recommend it.
XXiaopanggou1982The location is excellent, and it's rare to find such spacious rooms in Seoul. The facilities are new, and the front desk staff provided excellent service, with some even speaking basic Chinese. There's a CU convenience store right downstairs, and Myeongdong Walking Street is just outside, offering plenty of convenient dining options.
GGuest UserStayed with my child. I've previously stayed at hotels of this brand many years ago and always found the overall environment pleasant and the breakfast quite good. This location is convenient for dining and shopping local brands (especially cosmetics), with fried chicken and BBQ places easily accessible on foot. However, this time, the hotel felt quite out of the way for our itinerary, resulting in a less satisfying overall experience and poor value for money.
HHuanhuanHyphenExcellent location with easy transport access. The rooms are spacious and offer great views. There's a mall conveniently located right downstairs.
Our suite was incredibly spacious and provided fantastic views of the temple directly across the street. Having two bathrooms was a significant convenience, and the microwave was an added bonus!
The small mall below the hotel offers numerous dining choices, including a popular madeleine shop, a CU convenience store, and a coffee shop.
The hotel is close to the subway station, making Myeongdong easily accessible by taxi or bus.
Just a heads-up: the hotel's front desk isn't on the ground floor; you'll need to take the elevator up to the lobby.
GGuest UserThe location is fantastic, just a 5-minute walk from Exit 14 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park subway station (though my navigation suggested 10 minutes via main roads, there's a convenient shortcut). The lobby on the 14th floor is very spacious. The room was impressively large, bigger than other properties of the same brand I've stayed at, including one nearby and another in Jeju Island (this is my third time staying with this chain). The bed was nothing special, about 1 meter wide, but perfectly adequate for a solo traveler. If I return to the area, this would absolutely be my top choice! The attached photo is of Hongdae – I completely forgot to take pictures of the hotel itself!
SSy 66Hotel service is nice and sweet, all the staffs are pleasant, English fluent, suitable for foreigners to stay. Room is nice and comfortable. Slept very very well. Prime location next to Hyundai mall. Will definitely come back again
CCarol LinHotel Anteroom offers an exceptionally comfortable stay with stylish Korean-inspired décor that exudes modern elegance. The thoughtful details, such as the high-quality shampoo, enhance the experience, while the rooftop bar with stunning night views adds a touch of sophistication to the evenings. It’s a perfect choice for travelers seeking a relaxing and tasteful getaway.
MMsBeh94A modern and stylish hotel located about 10 minutes on foot from Seoul Station or Heohyeon Station (slightly closer to hotel), making it an ideal base for travelers using the AREX to Incheon Airport or the KTX to other cities like Busan. The concierge is on Level 1, accessible via the pedestrian-only Seoullo overpass or elevator from the ground floor. Do note that the route from Seoul Station involves gentle slopes, pedestrian crossings, and minor stairs, which might be slightly inconvenient if you're hauling luggage (not bad, might just need more time to arrive hotel).
The hotel has a trendy on-site restaurant, Seoulista, that can get busy at night, which adds to the city vibe and offers room service options like Korean fried chicken (though slightly on the pricey side). A 7-Eleven is nearby, and Namdaemun Market is about a 7-minute walk away, great for morning eats or exploring during the day.
Room matched the photos – ours came with 3 single beds, though space is a bit tight, especially if trying to open multiple suitcases. Amenities were sufficient, except for no microwave, toothbrush and toothpaste, in line with South Korea’s sustainability policy (banned one-time use amenities). The TV supports Netflix, and cleanliness was well-maintained with daily housekeeping visits. One downside was the warm, dim lighting, which could make makeup application a little difficult.
Complimentary luggage storage at hotel is available, which is convenient for early check-in or late departures.
The Seoul Station area can feel a little rough at night, with a visible homeless presence, especially in underpasses. While they’re generally harmless elderly individuals, it’s best to remain aware of your surroundings and use the overpass when possible, where there seems to be a 24/7 security guard presence.
If you have time to spare, the Lotte Outlets and Mart at Seoul Station is a great stop for last-minute souvenir shopping or snacks – it gets quite busy on weekends with travelers making final purchases before flights.
Overall, a comfortable and well-connected hotel, especially for those prioritizing easy access to major rail or bus lines, though the room size and price point may be worth considering for longer stays.
GGuest UserReally clean and quiet! I love the view of my room!!
For 3 nhours gets was excellent!
Have a variety of places to go walking and have 2 bus stops nearby!
Ssolshineokay. no elevators, be ready. the hotel is on the 3rd and 4th floor of a building (korean floor system) and thankfully the front desk person helped us, along with another traveller. they kept our luggage while we strolled outside waiting for check in. the process was fast, and they gave us one key. i wish we had more keys or at least a passcode bc we were three but it wasn’t the end of the world. the room has two bunk beds and a bathroom, not very spacious but we stayed only one night and it did the job. it was clean and neat, not much to say. the staff was friendly and the place was quiet, although since the building is right in front of a street, it can get loud inside the room when the window is open. good experience overall
