"Hotel 101 Manila – Guest Experience Review Date of Stay: August 3, 2025 Duration: 1 Night This was my first time staying at Hotel 101 Manila, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the kind of experience I hoped for. The night before my check-in, I sent an email politely requesting an early check-in, fully aware that it would depend on availability and front desk discretion. I arrived at the hotel around 10:00 AM and queued at the front desk. I was assisted by a male front desk officer. I provided my ID and mentioned that I had sent an early check-in request via email. He didn’t acknowledge the email and simply told me that standard check-in is at 2:00 PM, and there were no rooms available. What was disheartening was that while I was still at the counter, another guest beside me—who had just arrived—was given her room key and allowed to check in. It made me question the consistency and fairness in handling such requests. I didn’t want to make a scene, so I simply sat in the lobby, frustrated, thinking of where and how I could freshen up and iron my clothes before my 10:00 AM appointment. I approached another front desk officer (a female this time) to ask if early check-in would be possible if I were willing to pay. She checked and still said no. I also asked if I could use their iron and board, or perhaps request their housekeeping to press my clothes and will just pay .. something I know is possible in many hotels. But again, I was turned down. With no other choice, I left the hotel to attend to my day’s appointments feeling uncomfortable and unprepared. When I returned at around 4:00 PM to officially check in, things didn’t improve. After ironing and changing, we left again and only returned to our room past midnight—tired and ready to rest. However, the air-conditioning wasn’t working. No matter how I adjusted it, the room remained hot. I called for assistance and the engineering staff came. He checked the unit and said it was dirty and needed cleaning, but since we were only staying for a night, they couldn’t do anything immediately. He adjusted the temperature to 21°C and said it should be okay, assuring us that it wouldn’t shut off again in the middle of the night. Still worried, I called the operator to ask if there was any chance we could change rooms instead. She said she’d call back. While waiting, my companion and I discussed what to do—tired, hungry (our Wendy’s food was already getting cold), and dreading the hassle of packing up and transferring rooms at that hour. After not receiving a callback, I phoned again and said we would just stay in the same room and take the risk. It was a long, uncomfortable night. By 2:44 AM, we still couldn’t sleep. The room was hot, and the low temperature caused insects and mosquitoes to appear. I inspected the air-conditioning unit myself and was horrified to see visible dirt and mold buildup. We had no choice but to sleep in that environment, breathing in whatever was coming from that filthy AC. Upon checkout, I spoke with Sir Jason from customer service to raise all these concerns. He was polite and listened attentively. I appreciated that at least. But the truth is, this experience left me deeply disappointed. I didn’t feel welcomed or properly accommodated. Despite the hotel’s great location, I don’t think I would choose to stay here again. There are many other hotels nearby, and I would prefer to support a property that values fairness, cleanliness, and the comfort of their guests."

"The staffs are friendly and very accommodating. However, the facilities are a bit outdated. The airconditioning unit in our room is not working properly and they needed to set up a electric fan during our stay, which is a bit disappointing. The room is clean and good enough for 2 persons, but there's no place to place your luggage/things. There are stores outside of the hotel, which is very convenient. I also liked that they are providing pitchers in the room that you can fill with water from the dispenser in the hall way."

"Our room was on the 36th floor, so this is the view! It was small, but there was a terrace where you could have a drink while looking at the ocean (although it was hot). The hotel is located in the Malate area, and the elevated railway station is just a short walk away, so it's convenient for sightseeing. The building itself seems old, but it seems to be well-cleaned."

"Our second stay here. Checked in by Aileen Acosta and we felt very welcome. Room was a bit small but bed was comfortable with strong hot shower. Walkable from NAIA T3 which is why I chose it. Walking distance to *******. Room amenities were excellent. The swimming pool is small. Mainly for kids and we had to climb up a few stairs as the lift stopped on the 10th floor. Wifi was not really good. Need to keep on signing in. Overall an excellent hotel at a reasonable price due to its location."

"The room is spacious, and the temperature is okay. However, they need to improve the facility, especially the shower room for bathing bottles (shampoo, conditioner, and the like). I didn't know where to put them while I was in the shower, so it was pretty inconvenient to place them on the counter outside. The showerhead and water temperature should also be upgraded. Also, the front desk should always issue an official receipt, even if the booking was done online. A client like me always asks for an official receipt or service invoice after checking out because it is the right thing to do and very essential for liquidation purposes."

"We picked to stay at Seda Manila Bay because it's close to the Manila NAIA Airport and connected to Ayala Manila Bay shopping mall. The room we were given originally had a Bay View, which was goo but the sewage like smell coming from the toilet that night was unbearable! We complained in the morning and was transferred to a pool view room. Both rooms we were in was clean but for a new hotel (less than 1 & 1/2 yrs old) the grout and silicone in the bathroom tiles looked dirty. There was also a funny smell (like an old carpet )walking thru the hallway on the 10th floor. The service and the staff at Seda are very helpful, breakfast was good and the service from the breakfast staff was fabulous. I think that the price to stay at Seda Manila Bay does not match what the room offers. The room was pretty basic, 1 bottle of water supplied, instant coffee was not great and the internet was just ok. The gym was good, the mini golf looked good and they had a large pool but the paint in the pool seem to be disintegrating already. I think the hotel is too new to have the smell issues and if cleaning of the bathroom is not maintained well its going to look pretty bad in a years time. Not sure if I would come back to Seda Manila Bay, it wasn't a bad hotel but it wasn't great either."

"Location - few walks away from DLSU, St. Scholastica and Benilde. Also few walk away from LRT stations and Bus Stations so quite accessible. If your are foreign tourists, expect some noise and dirty manila surroundings when you go out of the hotel facility. Service - Staff and crew are very pleasant starting with the security guards and attendants upon the entering the hotel facility. The check in procedures are smooth and the receptionist during that time is very accommodating and nice. Facilities - The building is kinda ”old” and it is very evident with the elevators and the lobby. Upon entering the room, I noticed it was very clean and the CR is very clean and dry as well. However, you can really notice that everything is old although it can add ”charm” to the ambiance of the hotel because well, it can be like that. Other that that, everything is nice, the beds are big and the pillows and comforters were, well, seems clean naman. All rooms have their own balcony however, for security purposes, doors are locked but you have a good view pa din naman, which is sa room ko, the Manila skyline and the pool. I think the worst part lang is the smell of the room. Not stinky naman or whatever but I am not sure if because the building is old or whatever but there's really a weird smell na hindi nakaka ”clean” smell, not sure if coming from the old aircon or whatever. Yun lang ata ang downfall, the old vibe of the room is okay but the smell, hhmmm, not sure. There's a pool area as well and a jacuzzi, which I was able to try and it's really nice. Food - My stay came with a breakfast buffet. The restaurant is sooo nice, again, the old vibes kinda add with the ambiance. The staff are well trained as well so they're accommodating and pleasant. As for the food selection, I guess it's the normal food selection for a hotel. There's the usual morning breakfast, pastries, juices and all. With the price you paid, I think it's okay. In general, my stay was nice and I can really say that the biggest assets of hotels like CPH are their staff and crews because how they treat and accommodate their guests will have a great impact with the stay."
