Greenwood Beach Resort

Greenwood Beach Resort is a star on Cat Island. Why? Antoine and Pauline provide a welcome respite from the mad-dash world. We dined here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and found the food enormously tasty and satisfying. The two gracious hosts transmitted their magic through music, magic tricks, and lovely European hospitality. On the shelves of the common room, you will find books and games to while away the time. We love Greenwood!

We just came back from Cat Island and we stayed at Greenwood beach resort. Where should I start? The location is great! quintessential Carribean Beach. The place is very quiet and restful. Pauline and Antoine are excellent hosts. they set up a welcoming place where you can interact with the other guests in the common area or be alone in different locations of the resort. Walks on the beach are amazing, miles of untouched sands. Rooms are clean and comfortable. WIFI in common area wokrs well if you need to stay in touch with the world, My family took kiteboard lesson and did snorkeling with Antoine, a very patient and charming person (he is also a magician!). Pauline will fulfil all your needs. I can't forget to mention the food at the restaurant is really good as well and the staff very caring. A place to go back! Andrea

We just got back from a week at Greenwood Beach Resort, had a wonderful time. This was just what we needed, a quintessential Out Island experience, very far off the beaten path. The hotel has 16 rooms, only three or four were occupied while we were there; it's a basic, comfortable, homey, very clean hotel, typical of the Out Islands; don't expect a Hyatt. Power and water were reliable, a/c was good. The owners/managers, Pauline and Antoine, were absolutely wonderful, genuine, accommodating; it was like staying with family. Food was good (remember that provisioning is difficult in a place so remote; the kitchen staff was plenty flexible). The beach is spectacular, powdery sand, completely deserted, about 8 or 10 miles long; we never saw another person nor a footprint. The skies are so dark at night, too, I've never seen so many stars, the Milky Way is very prominent and the Andromeda galaxy is easy to spot with the naked eye (can't do that back home). We had stayed here about 28 years ago; there are numerous patch reefs starting only 20 or 30 feet from shore and very easy to access; the only minor disappoin**ent is that the reefs are pretty beaten up from hurricanes over the past few decades, but they're gradually coming back with some coral and abundant gorgonians, lots of juvenile reef fish; Pauline and Antoine are also working on re-seeding the reefs. They have a highly-rated scuba operation, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for us and I never did any diving. Overall, this was exactly the vacation that we wanted. If you want to be in Paradise, far from the crowds, and if you're not expecting a corporate resort, this is your place. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

If you are looking for a name brand hotel, then this experience may not be for you. If you are looking for a beautiful beach, delicious and healthy food, clean rooms and the most wonderful of hosts, then look no further than Greenwood. We just got back from nine days here and enjoyed every second of our stay. Everyone, including those who served us, was so kind and accommodating to us. BTW, add one more star if you are into kite surfing, snorkel trips or getting your certification to dive. Antoine and Pauline have a passion for these activities and it shows in their expertise Dinners were made even more entertaining by Antoine and his card tricks. There was actually live music on the Friday night from Antoine and a guest as well. There is some snorkeling on the beach a little off to the right. Some parrot fish, yellow fin tuna and red snappers were seen. Being that the both of us lead very busy lives, we were content with just relaxing on the beach and doing our snorkeling on site. It was a plus for us not to have a tv in the room. Internet was only available within proximity to the restaurant. What was particularly striking about Greenwood was the number of repeat guests that we encountered. A few were making their fifth or sixth trip here. The outstanding features of Greenwood surely make a return trip quite understandable!!

We have returned to Greenwood 6 times! It’s like going home! Antoine, Pauline and the hard working dedicated staff do crazy stuff to make it a one of a kind experience. Tableside magic tricks, diving instructions, boat/ snorkeling trips, kitesurfing instructions, great and healthy food, honor bar, biking, music and more. We love being with them and they attract an international crowd who always become friends over the classy dining experience. They are so warm and accommodating! It’s on the beach that tops them all. It’s remote but that’s what makes it a beach wilderness for people who love the great outdoors.

We visited Greenwood Resort numerous times during our Cat Island trip. Beach is beautiful and would highly recommend booking a snorkeling trip with them. The owners Pauline and Antwon were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful with information about the island. Relaxing place for lunch but dinner there is special with Antwon doing card and magic tricks. We did a special request for lobster one night and were pleasantly surprised they were able to get it for us. Definitely our favorite place to visit on the island!

As an older couple, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Greenwood. Younger people and families have submitted positive reviews, but we want others to know that Greenwood Beach Resort is perfect for older couples looking for a relaxing, safe, and energizing vacation on Cat Island. Maybe you don't dive or kitesail (we don't either), but the beaches are perfect for long walks, the snorkeling right off the beach in front of the resort has some beautiful coral and an array of fish to view, the rooms are comfortable, and the meals are delicious. Plus as far as we are concerned, there is no more perfect place in the world than Greenwood to just relax. This was our third visit in twenty-one years and Greenwood was at its best on this visit. Pauline and Antoine were outstanding hosts and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. They are the best hosts we've experienced at any of the resorts we've visited in our many years. Greenwood is a truly magical place!! We had such a brilliant stay over Chris**as with family. Antoine and Pauline are fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended!! Loved the snorkelling and kite surfing. The children loved playing on the beach. Can’t wait to come again!
